Steve, Great singing! May I say...The leading verses refer to the waisted life of a cowboy. Last verse refers to waisted lives of all others not experiencing the "calling" of being a Puncher. I feel Mr. Burton wrote it to be sang" why do THEY ride for THEIR money" , in wonder of why any other course in life would be condidered as a lifestyle!. WE know why WE ride for our money. the first time I heard this song was at Philmont Scout Ranch, sung by a wrangler at a horse camp, it might have been beaubien.. I remember watching the fire as I listened to the words of this song--resonating soooo with where I was then...and where I am now...over 20 years later

This is not actually a traditional song. It was written by Michael Burton (a real rancher who based this on a true story), sometime in the 80s. But damn, it sure sounds like it should be tradtional! Especially sung around the campfire like this!

That was great Steve, and sung in the original spirit. The only thing missing was one of those old porcelainware coffee kettles sitting in the edge of the fire.
