GREAT WORK! I think this is one of the hardest pieces, not just playing but decoding the notes, especially for beginners. It's good that you slow each step down & play it for everyone. Visual Learning helps. Thank you
@FoiledFailure often the key is adjusted to fit to a singer's voice range, but not in this case. this is originally a symphonic piece. for learning purposes, famous tunes are arranged for solo piano in various difficulty levels, and some key signatures are easier to play than others (those with many sharps or flats).
Would you consider playing the tutorial with a bit more legato? It's hard to see which notes you've hit when your expert fingers are in motion for only a frame or two of the video. Minor nitpick. Great video!
@bbdhrggl sorry, but i love it ,you have the sheets or you just use your abilitys, because i learn with more easily using the sheets, if u have can u give me please ?
I enjoy classical pieces and was just listening to this while my 3-yr-old was watching 'Angelina Ballerina.' Now that I'm listening to this, I gave my left earphone to her and she started nodding happily.
i love how skinny and elegant your fingers are, i do ballet and it reminds me of the girls that are extreamly skinny but very elegant and beautiful :)
I took Piano this year [6th grade] And this is my current recital piece. It's a bit altered since it's for kids or whatever. But I'm playing it on Monday, wish me luck. :3
There's something I don't get. If I am able to play this, that means I play on an advanced level, so I also should be able to read a sheet, what's the point in this kind of tutorial? With Mary Had A Little Lamb I would understand, of course.
its incredibly different to follow your hands on this. I give, I dont read music but I can usually follow a peice just by looking at one play it from this perspective. Your hands seem to hit either too many or no keys at all while I try and follow. perhaps its just your style, either way, after a few weeks ive nearly got the entire left hand. Then the fun comes ;)
@pacino4242 first you learn to read music. second, you watch my fingers, not the keys UNDER them. can you touch your nose if i touch mine? of course. same principle.
our hands look alike... i'm sure you get the "gain weight" advice as much as I do.. but I choose not to! :D small hands and lean fingers are sexy for pianist! XD
@chihuahuasarecute123 yes, i did use the pedal when appropriate. using pedal at the staccato parts it would mar the intended effect. i don't recall whether the score had pedal markings.
hi! Good day.. im totally a big fan of your tutorials especially the Love theme from romeo and juliet.. still im looking at the keys while i play.. do you have any suggestions about that? im looking forward to your new songs and tutorials .. thanks a lot! XD
@MrBobcox i almost never look at the keys as I play, that is the only way to get good at sightreading. familiarize yourself with the keyboard via the black key groups. use very easy pieces to learn this technique. your fingers should always be "feeling" for the NEXT notes. hitting octaves should be automatic. fight the urge to look down. only look when you make a mistake. then redo the section w/o looking. good luck.
oh, and THANKS for taking the time to make a tutorial like this. It must take a long time to break it down the way you do...being a newbie playing lead sheet style this is very nice for me to learn some extras that i can't get from a lead sheet.
wow, you're just 100 percent awesome ! being a former calculus teacher, i guess your're able to tell the difference between 99.9 % awesome & 100 % awesome...i rate you 100 percent awesome :) i have a friend that is a calculus genius, i'm just a little slow when it comes to calculus.
You can play the piano very well, that's for sure, but I find it hard to follow wich keys you use because you play it staccato. It is to fast for my eyes to track =_=
@NyoronChibiChan hi there, try a different approach, focus on finger movement, not the keys underneath. use your ears too, and pause a lot. nice fun piece to learn. good luck.
@nightmusics Do you have perfect pitch? This piano was recently tuned, and our piano technician is one of the world's best. He tunes for concert halls. :)
@bbdhrggl oh im sorry i just thought and i had a problem yesterday that I thought its like grand piano and i realized its just a honky tonk piano! sorry for that I'm hoping for your pardon!
What do you play from 02:24 til 02:30 with the left hand? I can't see it so well because the notes are different than the ones you showed at the beginning of the slow motion? Thanks

A question from a beginner: my song book has this piece written in b flat, but yours is in d minor, why is that so? Thanks
