Before the gags start, the video starts with one of the show's official promos. It has that great melodic music as part of it, a theme that in the years since seeing Sliders, I always associated with the show. It wasn't until recently that I discovered the music was not written for Sliders, but was in fact Jerry Goldsmith's music for the more "Explorers." I so love the romanticism and adventure implicit in that theme, that I wish the official theme from Sliders had been more like it.

Okay, I was wondering if any Sliders experts could help me out. I remember seeing the first couple seasons of Slideres when they first debuted. And I remember a much more epic/melodic theme song than the percussive/forgettable one that seems to now be slapped onto the official DVD release of easons 1 and 2. Am I going crazy? Was there in fact originally a different theme song for the show when it aired?

You may be talking about the Pilot episode? Because it is entirely different. Dennis McCarthy created the theme in the Pilot.

Thanks for the response. But you know the music that plays for the first 22 seconds of this video? That's the music I remember from the opening credits that played before *all* the season 1 episodes when they originally aired. I supposed I could be remembering wrong, but I'm like 95% sure of this. If I could only find my original videotape I made when Sliders was first on, then I find out definitively what the "real" original opening music was.
