  • Opiates don't suck but too many do! One of my fave Dead tunes didn't they do some brilliant ballads,'something the unconverted should learn... A ripper song'play it Jerry!

  • Hard to watch, Garcia is so sick! Opiates suck!

  • What a DAY THIS WAS, Bless this BAND GOD, With All Your Might.

  • Bobby and his shorts and pig-tail....ha!

  • Stay inspired WetSpirit. Despair sucks ...hope is there.

  • I was there. Which sure was a much better place than the one i am in right this minute... Thanks for this song. Been looking all day for a song that suited my feelings, and this is it! Thanks for this supreme load, Warrior.

This is the medicine i need.

  • This song sums up the state of greedhead politicians & others of their ilk within the increasingly loopy USA so perfectly. I continue to hope people who listen closely will wake up from the trance they're in & take this message Jerry Garcia strongly felt *very* personally.

The Persuasions superb album "Might As Well" is highly recommended. Google "Persuasions Ships of Fools" & read the interview with David Gans. You who loved JG really need to buy the album, listen to & LIVE it.

  • This was thee last show the band was strong start to end. They just fell into a groove and stayed in it until they walked off the stage. Jerry loved playing with clarence and it showed. I remember 12/31/88 when clarence came out , by this point the visine bottle was dry and the rest of the night was well you know how the story goes.

  • LOVE that pony in the back of Jerry!

  • unfuckingbelievable...sooo much heart and soul! <3 Jerry u are and always will be my hero..... :)

  • @benswagina I meant punctuate!

  • @benswagina Get a life, man. Why don't you volunteer at a literacy project?

  • @peggy986 Of, course, that would be after you yourself learn to puntuate.

  • @slmshdy4208 Settle down beavis 22,000 shows, throw some of that peyote my way. You need to count your zero"s and learn how to spell.

  • ughh i cant handle unbroken chain... ship on the other hand, love it... any jerry ballad, china doll, brokedown, ship, wharf, black peter... those are the best dead tunes for sure... any jerry ballad, especially the 74-78 era of them, im a big fan of keith and donna with the band, so im very partial to 72-early 79...

  • "Though I could not caution all

I might have warn a few

Don't lend your hand to raise no flag

    Atop no ship of fools"

  • Your face is the best Dead tune bitches!

  • Best dead tune? How in the world do you pick one.

If someone held a gun to my head I guess I would go with Eyes of the World w/ the 6/17/91 version w/ Hornsby as the best version.

But that's only with a gun to my head!

  • Love the song, but the sax is pretty pointless.

  • he was there the whole show

  • i know im really not a fan of clarence clemons- not impressed, in fact i really dont care for his playing on any Jerry shows - im sure hes a nice guy but yeah really uninspiring i never was impressed with his playing

  • But I would slave to learn the way to sink your ship of fools. The most brilliant song ever writen IMHO.

  • Great song, but the BEST, c'mon now....

THis isn't even the best Dead tune.

  • well now that's subjective, my cuurent favorite is UNBROKEN CHAIN

  • word. the lyrics for ripple and the other classics have the most beautiful lyrics

  • alright motherfuckers, no arguing. Yeah, I can't argue with ripple.

  • Ok, mabye not the best. I just get carried away sometime. There are so many to choose from. A good peggy-o is always a good thing.

  • 1989 the best year in the history of the universe

  • hehehe, that's funny... I really liked 1992. That's when I first met the Dead and followed them on a 2 week carefree tour.

  • Smoothest SOF ever. Never got this song before this.

    Superb Keys from Brent.

  • is that branford marsalis? i saw him sit in a couple times in LA but never up at shoreline.

  • It's Clarence Clemmons (Bruce Springsteen/E-street band)

I rember he was really low in the mix---don't think Healy liked it....

  • Spectacular - Jerry was in such good form at this time period.
