THE BEST SONG EVER,i heard this song couple of times when i was about 14 or 15 and never new the title or the artist who sang it as it was in a mixed tape given to my brother , i was absolutely gutted when i lost the tape ,because as soon as i heard this song it touched my heart my soul my everything as the melody it's so sentimental and the instruments fit so perfectly together, since that time i always sang it in my head trying to remember perhaps should have listened to David Bowie earlier.

Yeah - anyone who remembers Ziggy can see Lady Gaga's influences quite clearly. She's a breath of fresh air - rock and pop has been drab for so long (as Bowie himself sang - These blackest of years, that have no sound, no shape, no depth, no underground...) it's nice to see someone colourful and a bit subversive at long last.

yes, completely! i think that the "woman's" role of nuturing and caring and taking care of children is much more rewardinmg spiritually, and America at least was realled screwed over by the way it took the feminist movement. The new feminist ideal should invite men who lean towards the delights of childrearing and caring for children (and wearing makeup) to embrace these qualities.

it also allows for the needed ballance in society. gender roles used to be so cut and dry and now it seems that women can act/dress/be whatever they like and men are still expected to be exactly how they always were. this almost makes feminism into chauvinism, saying "we want to be more like men" is like admitting men are superior and are the goal that's to be strived for. i think men should have a movement where they try to be more "feminine". stay at home, cook, be fashionable...

Its something missing from modern music that was incredible. this idea that you have to be angry to appeal to youth doesn't help anybody, it causes violence and is anti-art and anti-progress. Bowie looked to the future in an optimistic way, and asked questions about gender sterotypes and sexual politics, etc, etc. Wheras Marylin Manson or Rob Zombie are just incredibly negative and dwell on death, etc, etc. It's quite depressing.

i agree that bowie was the mastermind behind the music, but he was around since the mid 60s having attained very little until oddly enough, he met mick ronson. Why was this?.my personal belief is that david wasn't rocky enough, but mick put payed to that. Just listen to 'hang on to yourself' from arnold corns, and even moonage daydream. They were quirky little ditties until ronno got hold of 'em. I can imagine mick saying to david, look this is how these need to be played,full on rock nroll!!
