your freestyle is great. the only thing I have to say is that your left hand seems to enter the water earlier than your right hand. also, your left hand seems to go to the left as it enters the water instead of forward. but other than that, great freestyle =)
Liza I really like the relaxation and symmetry in your compact recovery. Another great feature of your stroke is the patient catch. I have only one suggestion: Soften your entry a bit - as if to let your hand fall into the water of its own weight, rather than force it in. Keep up the good practice.
Too much head turn. Try to have only one goggle leave the water at breath. And keep the chin in alignment with the torso. Also, there is too much "glide" in your stroke which means there is desceleration. And lastly, work for a wider entry line (Y line). Imagine the letter "Y" at entry.
Good luck. And remember if you "glide" you will descelerate.
hey coach, just a question about your post, the Y at entry, what degree should your arms be splayed out? ie, what angle on the Y arms. And also wouldn't the Y be less efficient than a pretty much straight arm outreach? Dunno, just seems intuitively that way but could very well be mistaken. Thnx.
I like 20 to 45 degrees...depends on the flexibility of the swimmer. The Y line is a stronger position and permits setting the high elbow catch sooner.
