In other words take the scale of E major and build a chord on the 1st ,4th and 5th note. i.e E, A and B. In blues playing you can often put a 7 chord on each. Which gives E7 A7 and B7. in this tune the E7 is has an added #9. The chord E7 sharp 9 is known as the Hendrix chord. Google it and learn more
