Don Cherry! The GREATEST Coach in Boston Bruins History. He saved the franchise after Robert Gordon Orr left for Chicago with people(including Orr) thinking he was run out of town when in reality Jabobs offered hin a nice percentage of the team but Eagleson never told him. So with all that Ill will Cherry put together a Great team and if not for the Juggernaut that was Montreal(and the refs in 79. Phney Penalties on Redmond & Ratelle) they would have won a Cup or two. thank You Don Cherry.
I love the idiots that come on here and have nothing or no nothing about hockey, Lucic showed up and fought which is more than you ignorant morons would do, he broke his nose in the fight and that was it!!!
@44sox44 he still bitched out hard and quit, don is 100% right. Look at lucic vs neil, neil is bloodied up 10 secs in and keep going until the end. lucic is better then that i thought
Lucic may have hurt his hand.. You never know.. Lucic dont seem like type of guy to quit a fight no matter who it is.. I think he may have injured his hand..and 'i am a habs fan sticking up for a Boston player..
@silentghost23 I think John Wensick, Stan Jonathan, Terry O'Reilly, Jay Miller and Cam Neely should beat Lucic senseless in practice, just to toughen him up.
Cherry owes Looch an apology. He took on one of the toughest guys in the league. Got hurt bad in the fight but hung in there. You don't put a guy down for that. And stopping when Orr had the sweater over his head is a point of honor.
Lucic was owned by Colton Orr and I am shocked that Cherry would call Lucic a coward! Lucic is good against non-fighters but was given a lesson here. What about the honour of taking off your helmet Lucic. Mr linesman get here and save me! Too funny!
@marsbar007 No, not wrong with guys like this. Even Avery will drop his helmet, geez, and he doesn't wear a visor. You're arguing with people who have played hockey longer than you've been alive.
@cetnickiponos Like that's a reason. This guy is a disgrace to hockey. DON'T act tough, if you're not. Cherry, like usual, calls it like he sees it. Lucic wouldn't have survived in the big bad Bruins hay days.
what was he suppose to do... he lost.. and he knows it.. but i think Don Cherry over did it.. when i see lucic i'll ask him.. but that's what his uncle told me that he broke his nose..
@cetnickiponos There is no shame in backing off because you broke your nose. That's not the problem. But to hide behind the refs, and then try to fight again after, sorry, that doesn't fly. A good example to share was an Andrew Peters and Brian McGrattan fight under similar circumstances. But I can't find it and think its been removed from Youtube, or I'd share it to illustrate what I mean. I like Lucic overall buddy, but he's young and needs to listen to Grapes. He knows the code.
@cetnickiponos Two years ago Komisarek was fighting Lucic with one dead shoulder and all the Bruins fans and announcers were calling Komisarek a puss when he lost. Not only did Lucic lose handily to Orr, he cowered and quit. You live by the sword, you die by the sword. Lucic definitely got what he deserved.
@hofifut , I missed this but I'd be Tappin Kathryn if it weren't for Jay Leach, who's Tappin Kathryn every night! I want Jay Leach's autogaph, I want to shake his hand, because he is the man that gets to pound that beautiful piece of NJ-poon-stayles
anyone know that commercial in which don cherry said; "what do women know about sports?"

Cherry was right. The Bruins still don't play as physical as they should.

What do you mean taking off your helmet? Colton Orr's helmet came off because Lucic punched it off.
dafoomie 1 year ago
@dafoomie Anyone who has played past peewee knows to take their helmet off before a fight like that.
van1980 1 year ago
Neither guy took it off, you can't single out one or the other. You don't see it that often unless one of them has a visor on.

wrong...only if its got a visor or cage on it
