Nice effort to tackle the Chechen problem in Russia.

But the problem is that it was done by Mikhalkov, who is the real disaster for the Russian movie industry. The reason why he was making this movie is because it was predominantely filmed on the governmental funds, and these money were sucessfully wasted by "his majesty". Could only watch the first 45 min, the rest is rubbish. Everybody in Russia hates him.

@evdokiyushka Mikhalkov may have some hits under his belt, but he's also put out a barrage of shit (Sibirski Tsirulnik, 12, Utomlennie Solntsem-2), plus he's a known nationalist, religious freak, and runs Russian cinema like Stalin. So fuck him, he's a fucked-up human being who mostly puts out banal and no-brain movies!

It's not a remake, technically. 12 Angry Men was a stage play before they made it into a film in 1957. Is the entire movie uploaded to You Tube? I have to watch it for my Russian class.

Good movie and well done. Good actors.

But, I did not like some scenes that carry a political message. For example, at the end of dance scene what the father says and how the village people gather after the soldiers leave. Also, how the two old men shake their sticks. It is so fake...
