Wow, very cool collection man, I absolutely can respect that. Longtime PC Gamer (and console), but I go way back and you have a vast & colorful array of games. Pleasure to watch this vid, thanks!
Hey can anyone help me im looking for an old game i played when i was young,it was a farming and baking game and somethings when you make stuff a wolf would come and eat it.If anyone knows it can you tell cause i want to bring back the memories.
As a collector of PC games, with over 600 in my collection, going back to 1990,.along with over 400 Commodore 64 games from the 80's, and given the number of classic PC games that could never go on a console as they need a keyboard, I am not sure I like you saying your PC gaming was your "dark period"! :)
As much as console gamers don't like it, their console shooters, strategy games and RPG's all were copied from previous comouter games that started all those genres!
@HardWarUK Strategy and point-n-click adventures aside, consoles either stand on their own or surpass computer offerings.
A keyboard isn't even designed to be a game controller, it's hardly ideal. I know a mouse and keyboard are more precise in FPS games, but a pad with it's dual analogs simply feel better and more natural. It's not "twitch" precise, but neither is real life, you know.
But don't be fooled, I do have many fond memories of PC (and C64) gaming!
@HardWarUK Just because something has taken inspiration from something else, doesn't mean it is not as good. Console gaming is much more popular and is a much bigger industry than PC gaming now and simply saying PC gaming is better because it was first is stupid. Console gaming has improved and fixed what was wrong with PC gaming and kept what was great about it and now we have a much more accessible experience on a console than you can ever have on a PC.
good collection i got my first pc game (spider-man web of shadows) and it's reallly laggy and slow how can i fix that I also got a laptop so i think that might have an affect on the gaming on the computer i might buy some more pc games when i get a better computer unfortunatley that's not guna happen soon and i'm more into my dsi xl then ps3 at the moment :)
Which one of the Heroes of Might and Magic Games is your favorite ? I didn't start playing them before the foruth one came out, and I've heard many fanboys say nothing compares to number three, do you agree ?
@TheKrautGames Yes, number three is the best. Four just added way too much redundant stuff and lost some of the charm because of it. Not to mention the pretty unneeded rehaul of the battle screen.
Noticed you have the Starcraft Battlechest. Did you also get Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty for PC, or are you gonna wait for part 2 and 3 to come out to get the battlechest version?
You know when someone is a collector/retro gamer when he says Baldur's Gate II is a "newer game" when it's actually over a decade old!!! When Baldur's Gate II came out there was no 360 or PS3 and no "multiformat" market!
I have 500 PC games in my collection, about 350 of them the biog box games from the 90's! I also have 500 Commodore 64 games along with my C64 and around 100 for my Commodore Amiga! But that doesn't mean you don't have a classic collection there!
Oh, and I have 99% of the games you have! So good taste!
What was the pc game that was released in the 1990's. It was a first person but you were a robot or machine and you fought other machines. The levels were dark and the music was creepy.
Nothing beats the old, sweet and beautiful retail boxes! You have a very nice and impressive collection! I have more of 80 original PC games in its retail box, some of them are Fallout 2, Grim Fandango, Quake 2, Starcraft Battlechest and Half Life too! But that Heroes of might and magic compilation is without doubt one hug he big diamond! Keep going with your collection dude
those sierra adventure collections once came in huge collector's boxes like most compilation or collector's edition pc games, which was pretty silly considering that all that was inside of the 2 foot wide king's quest collection box were 6 or 7 cds.
@finngamer thats probably the easiest thing to do. a collectors edition box will probably cost you about 200 bucks. i can do it for less than 3 bucks. first, downloading the games, write them on the CD's with nero. than, put my disk in my sticky DVD, and apply a cover on it , the same as the original cd. than, get a normal DVD box for disks, print out the game cover (the back, rear, front) and just apply it on. glanced paper costs like nothing...same as the cd's... i guess pirates own'd you?
I'm pretty much like you, I don't play PC, DOS, Commodore games alot, but it's still something magic with them that makes you want to own them in their big boxes.
Lucas Art is a masterpiece, their games makes my life much happier to be honest, the characters, the story, the jokes and the memories.
You said you don't have much but those games you have are a set of excellent collections finngamer. Man I wish I had some older collector's edition games still. I had to sell most my hobby stuff one day to pay college tuition... sheesh~
Finnbro, I am going to share some important information with you.
I don't know if you have played it, heard of it, whatever, but I have to say the following-
You have to buy and play Deus Ex. Like right this weekend. Seriously. It may very well change your life and appreciate gaming more. Serious Finnbrosef. You have to. The quicker the better.
You have to get it for the PC though. It's an amazing game. I was obviously exaggerating for comedy's sake, but I think that everyone should experience Deus Ex on PC.
The PC has it's classics, but so do the consoles, even more so. But nowadays PC gaming is a shadow of it's former self, with more and more people turning to consoles. Also shame about the piracy, and the DRMs and other anti-piracy vehicles thatmake it more difficult to play the games. PC owners are destroying their own future by pirating.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
newer PC games, yes (except for indie devs) but i am talking about the old games, like the Might and Magics, Ultimas, Doom, Duke Nukem, System Shock, Eye of the Beholders, Daggerfall, Arena,The Void, Fallout 1-2 etc etc.
and piracy is catching up on consoles too.
but either way, if you dont like PC gaming then sell those games so someone who really wants them get the chance to obtain them.
Consoles are superior in many ways. But still I only I jokingly said my PC times was dark times: Of course I still play the games, just not the newer stuff.
Over the last few months I've played through Maniac Mansion II, The Dig and Eye of the Beholder II, when have you played through these?
ah, you meant it that way, okay, the Dig was...last year, Maniac Mansion 2 about 2004 and Eye of the Beholder 1-3 was done in a Lets Play about 2007.
but then im on my like 123rd reinstall of Might and Magic III, 99th reinstall of Daggerfall (first game i always install on a new computer).
plus i got a folder full of old games like Rise of the Triads, Betrayal at Kondor, Master of Magic, Wolfenstien 3D, World of Xeen and the SSI Golden box games and more.
Each to his own, but no matter how much I love a specific game or a console, just playing those same games over and over again seriously limits your enjoyment of this whole great hobby. I'd recommend you to play all sorts of games, like I do, instead of accusing people for the opposite. You'd live a more stress-free life.
well, I, pretty sure that its possible to get some stuff on your pc that lets you run those rly old games, got some myself that would be fun to play, but i have never rly looked after it.
Jaja, all of the Command and conquer games (Yuri's Revenge and below) are simply a must in my opinion! C&C Renegade is also a well played classic, theres usually still about 300 people on at any given time!
Haha, you've pretty much got everything for the Nintendo 64, though.
Nice collection anyway; I myself was never a big pc gamer (as I usually found myself with outdated technology) but, I've come to realize that most games provide a more worthwile experience than their console counterparts. One could argue that all PC games would be superior to a consoles, because of how a system can't really be upgraded or run at equal levels, but I love using a good old piece of history to play the classics.
