One of the saddest I've ever seen is Cecil's room in Final Fantasy IV DS version.

The voice acting really brings out how disgusted Cecil is with himself and it's completely heartwrenching to see Rosa trying to encourage him.

I cried on that scene in the DS version.

The old SNES and GBA version it was almost unimportant, but the voice acting really humanizes it.

Agro's sacrifice was definitely a classic tearjerker. But I just got to Isara's death in Valkyria Chronicles and I agree 100% her death is THE saddest thing I have ever experienced in a game. All of the characters are so well written and you form true connections to them. Then poor little Isara is cut down when you're not expecting it at all and just as she's made friends with Rosie who finally lets go of her prejudices and accepts Isara. It is simply an amazing story about sacrifice in war.

As such, if the game has not been released before the making of a video, it is quite difficult for me to reference that game on the video. In short, Red Dead Redemption was released over a year after I made this video.

FF VII it is. This one hit me straight on back in 97. I never ever thought they would let die somebody from the main-cast. After this game I never again was sure that everyone from my party is going to survive the plot :)

I do not know if there were games before, where something like that happened - for me it was the first.

It´s strange, 15 years passed, but when I see this scene it gives me grief.

PS: There are so many JP games, because the lads there know how to write sad scenes...

For some reason, the scene in Bioshock where you get to the submersible pod, and as soon as you're about to go up and get in, it explodes, makes me sad. Like... Everything you worked for, was in vain... Pointless.

But this was a very good list, although the scene at the end of FFX where Yuna gave her speech made me cry more than Tidus' death. When she pauses and it gives the flashback of the game, the characters, the environments, it was like a huge ass wave of nostalgia and happiness.

CT music, mega classic. I really appreciate you using Chrono Trigger music even though it didn't feature on your top ten saddest scenes. It is for me one of the more moving games I have played, but the sadness there was more based on the overall melancholic atmosphere and themes of time/loss than definable scenes.
