However, the Abraham Brothers' 1913 footage of two climbers (possibly Herford & Sansom) on Napes Needle (as featured in Alan Hankinson's 1986 documentary 'A Century on the Crags') is surely strongest contender for the title of 'first British rock-climbing film'?

Fair comment, but the difference is one is purely and simply a short clip, whist the other is a short film.
