Lets see. Gerald Ford and Richard Nixon? Well that recession was because dumbass JFK got us into Vietnam and LBJ escalated the war, both democrats. Ronald Reagan actually saved the economy and that's why Clinton enjoyed such a great term, he was one of the luckiest bastards ever. Reagan helped stabilize the economy and also he had the lucky boom of home computers and the internet.
Again, do the research. Reagan was horrible for the economy. Even with adjusting for inflation, he increased the national debt more than all previous presidents combined. He had the highest unemployment since the Depression, the highest mortgage rates in history. Bush won the election running on the mantra "No New Taxes" but once in office, had to raise taxes across the board to compensate for the black hole that Reagan had left him.
I will admit that I don't know everything. But I also have no doubt that some of that unsupported statistics (no debt numbers or unemployment rates) were left over by Carter, who was one of the WORST Presidental leaders in our countries history. He was elected just because Americans were sour from the Nixon administration. They just wanted change, they didn't care good or bad. It's exactly what's happening here with Obama. I am willing to bet he'll be as horrible a mistake as Carter.

First off, I agree: Carter was a horrible President. He was lousy in office, ran a horribly unfocused re-election campaign and had no chance of winning as long as the hostages were held in Tehran. If anyone was elected because voters wanted change, it was Reagan. Yet despite his horrible handling of the economy, right-wingers still treat him as if he walked on water. GHW Bush tried to turn things around but was still floundering when he came up for reelection.
That was why Ross Perot was so successful with his self-funded campaign; he was able to point out how horrible the economy was under Reagan/Bush and offer suggestions as to go about fixing things. I'm sure Clinton and his staff were taking notes every time Perot pulled out his charts and graphs. The last time the economy was as bad as it is today was under Reagan, which should prove once and for all that Trickle Down Economics do not work. It's time for a change and McCain is definitely not it.

Reagan helped stabilize the economy and also he had the lucky boom of home computers and the internet.

Again, do the research. Reagan was horrible for the economy. Even with adjusting for inflation, he increased the national debt more than all previous presidents combined. He had the highest unemployment since the Depression, the highest mortgage rates in history. Bush won the election running on the mantra "No New Taxes" but once in office, had to raise taxes across the board to compensate for the black hole that Reagan had left him.

I will admit that I don't know everything. But I also have no doubt that some of that unsupported statistics (no debt numbers or unemployment rates) were left over by Carter, who was one of the WORST Presidental leaders in our countries history. He was elected just because Americans were sour from the Nixon administration. They just wanted change, they didn't care good or bad. It's exactly what's happening here with Obama. I am willing to bet he'll be as horrible a mistake as Carter.

First off, I agree: Carter was a horrible President. He was lousy in office, ran a horribly unfocused re-election campaign and had no chance of winning as long as the hostages were held in Tehran. If anyone was elected because voters wanted change, it was Reagan. Yet despite his horrible handling of the economy, right-wingers still treat him as if he walked on water. GHW Bush tried to turn things around but was still floundering when he came up for reelection.

That was why Ross Perot was so successful with his self-funded campaign; he was able to point out how horrible the economy was under Reagan/Bush and offer suggestions as to go about fixing things. I'm sure Clinton and his staff were taking notes every time Perot pulled out his charts and graphs. The last time the economy was as bad as it is today was under Reagan, which should prove once and for all that Trickle Down Economics do not work. It's time for a change and McCain is definitely not it.

He came to office with the economy still reeling from Reaganomics and a war debt from the first Gulf War (which caused GHW Bush to slash the military to save costs and which Sec. of Defense Cheney offered up a plan to slice $8 Billion from the Defense Budget) and managed to turn things around so that when he left office, there was a budget surplus.

They of course live in the Fayetteville,area,and we live in Kentucky where our national guard is going back for their 3rd time.There are plenty of people here in our position and ou local VFW and American Legion of which I belong are very helpful.I've pratically had to raise my 5 grand children because of these deployments,but thats maybe the only good thing thats come out of this.I get to spoil them like I didn't get to do to my own 4.

Thanks Nin 1963.I'm a Vietnam Vet,and both my son in laws are members of the 82nd Airborne,My youngest daughter was injured in Iraq by an IED her 2nd tour and had to leave the military with a 65% disability.People who hawk this stupid war don't seem to realize the toll it takes on military families.Thanks again for your kind words.

13 years time in service and 3 tours in the mideast. I just wanted to say God Bless you and your family. The last friend I buried 2 yrs ago was 34 yrs old and had a wife and 4 young sons. He was in Iraq for only 10 days before he was killed. If you could see the looks on his family's faces at his funeral or see his dad collapse in grief on his casket you would want to know WHY he died. I am opposed to this war now and you're right, neocons don't understand the toll it takes on the families.

That does not justify attacking our embassy and holding the staff hostage for 444 days. That was an act of war. Had we had anyone but Carter for President, we would have retaliated immediately. We are just a little late is all.

Mossadegh was not overthrown b/c he was a thug. He nationalized the British Oil Company, cutting the UK off from Iran's Oil. The Brits were pissed and gave false info to the US that he was leaning towards siding with the USSR. The CIA and the British started Operation Ajax to get him out of office and put the Shah back in power. That was why we back a thug like Shah Reza Palavi, so that we could get oil. Overthrowing a Mid-East country for oil..sound familiar.

Similar to what I have learned. Mossadegh nationalized the oil infrastructure there which belonged to England. He made agreements with Russia for protection, thinking they would protect him from the West. Ajax was organized by the West to overthrow Mossadegh, but needed the people of Iran to do it. Seems the people of Iran were in favor of overthrowing Mossadegh.

There are alot of concerns about McCain's mental stability. He could be suffering from Post Tramatic Syndrome from being captive in Vietnam. The sad thing is that many who are young and did not vote McCain would be fighting his crazy wars.
