It was clean other then the fact that he did leave his feet. He's got awesome timing, but sometimes he can be, like the announcer said "violent". Thats the part I don't like to see, he isnt just trying to take the guy out of the play, he's trying to take him out of the game. Bad situation with the funny bounce, probably the main cause of the injury. If he didn't jump, I would be 100% in support of Kronwall, but he jumps and that to me just means he is trying to hurt the guy. But oh well
Detroit fans are retarded monkeys. At least Chicagos fans arent a bunch of poor niggers who cry about being a bandwagoner when they are the same fucking thing. I would be angry if i was forced to live in Detroit too
@jamersonsecurity yea Its just to bad that nobody is forced to live in Detroit and I'm sure those who are prolly aren't concerned with hockey or pussy chicago fans who are internet tough guys who hide behind there computer and talk shit like you. Detroit fans are just as die hard about their sports as chicago fans ......BTW nice job embarrassing yourself and Chicago fans because its garbage fans like you who make the good decent human race and chicago fans look bad you jackass.
@Maddawg313 Please show me where i stated that i live in Chicago. Please, go ahead and try. You are the one getting all riled up about nothing and doing exactly what you just ripped on me for doing (being an internet tough guy), are all Detroit fans hypocrites or are they just very stupid? Also, try to watch your grammar, i know Detroit fans are poor and stupid, but at least put some effort into your rants. So go ahead and try again.
@jwb864 My city does not have a hockey team, Please re read the posts and try again. I know it takes a detroit fan two times to do something correctly anyways
Honestly I dont like the guy too much, especially being a flyers fan and what he just did to Voracek but he does deliver mostly clean hits, and having played hockey when i was younger, the one thing coaches always tell you is KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!
The best part of this video is that nobody on the wings bench congratulates Kronwall for knocking another player out of the game. They don't care about the hit, they just keep on playing. Even Kronwall doesn't look pleased with himself. Class team.
he never touched the puck guys come on i usually love kronwall's hits and i hate when people call him dirty but havlat never touched the fucking puck this is one case where it really was dirty
@MrDumbass916 Puck was in Havlat's feet therefore Havlat has the puck what do you what Kronwall to do in this situation clean hit end of story....Fuckin Moron
@MrDumbass916 The puck was directly under Havlat therefore he has the puck. The NHL came out and even said Kronwall should'nt of been kicked out of the game stop bitching this is hockey it's a contact sport if you dont like it watch soccer you fuckin pussy
I am a huge Wings fan, but i gotta give some love to Marty Havlat. The dude was on the bench before the 5 minute major was over. Can we all agree Crosby is a huge pussy? The hit(s) that did him in were no where near as violent as this one.
This is a good hit but the kind of hit that scares the shit out of me, i play right wing and when the d-men send the puck up the boards its hard to get it of/out of the boards cuz that moment when u turn to head up ice a big hiting d-man like kronwall good be waiting to punce and youll be sent into next week
Perfectly Clean Hit! Ref's on a general rule say that if the puck is in the general area of the player (about 2ft.) and the player is fully aware where the puck is OR THE PUCK IS COMING TO THEM, then its legal to hit said player. If he had kept his head up instead of looking for the puck this wouldn't have happened. In my opinion, the only reason this was a call was because it was on home ice. Im a Detroit fan, but the same call probably would have happened if say Zetterburg was hit by Chara.
Beautiful clean hit. Blackhawks should not have piled on him, but they did not think about it. On the other hand, you have to respect the Blackhawks for standing up for their player that got hit, unlike the Sabers who did nothing when Lucic nailed Miller. They just stood there in awe.
Kronwall is a great player and makes beautiful clean hits, a sign of that is when he's just trying to skate away from the incident, a dirty player whose intention is to hurt the other player, would start/accept a fight after the hit
The most dangerous part of this incident was when 33 of Chicago hit Kronwall on top of Havlat who was unconscious. That, plus all of the skates around his head during the scrum. He could have been seriously injured while he was just laying there.
@packers256 As a die hard wings fan, he did leave his feet which (as far as I'm aware) is against regulation. Other than that, he got fucking kronwalled.
@cod7strats Totes, this hit was awesome and perfectly legal. The only reason it got called was because of how huge the hit was, and the reaction it drew from the crowd.
What's up with other player trying to fight after Kronwall's clean hits? Chicago is doing it, St. Louis is doing it, and I've seen Edmonton do it lately.
I love how Quinville jumps up on the bench waving his arms around like a foolish bitch. That fool complains so much about everything its a wonder he even likes the game. Proper clean hit.
The other players/refs are fucking stupid, skating in hard right next to Havlat's head and neck, fucking dumb, this happens a lot when a player gets knocked down for awhile, dangerous and a total lack of regard/safety for the injured player. It happened when Steve Moore got "Bertuzzied", it happened when dickhead Steve Downie boarded Dean Mcammond (preseason-Flyers/Senators), pay attention to the hurt player you idiots. Love hockey to death though!
It blows my mind how retarded hawks fans are. That was a perfectly clean hit. We are taught since day one playing hockey KEEP YOUR HEAD UP. Kronwall went for the body not the head. It was the Blackhawk players that piled on that made it worse. You can see clearly that his elbow went into the chest. This was even before the harsher punishments for headshots. Kronwall is a clean player. He doesn't want to hurt anyone. He makes clean hard checks.
@topgun966 you can obviously tell he was trying to hit high, his elbow followed through and went straight at his head and havlat didnt even possession of the puck
@jeremy43544 Sigh. Listen to ANY player in the league talk about Kronwell. ANYONE. NO one will say he is a dirty player. When he hits, he tries to make sure its a hard hit, but not to hurt anyone. NO one will EVER call him a dirty player. I am sorry that you are jealous and envious of the Wing's because whatever team you follow cannot match their skill nor class, but if attacking me makes you feel better...by all means. I for one am Canadian there for I skated before I walked. So I know hockey.
@topgun966 Yes it was a COMPLETELY clean hit. I'm a Hawks fan and i completely agree with you. The only part that may have been bad was that Havlat missed the puck
@kuzy7 Actually at that time you can clearly see Kronwalls left skate is on the ice, and actually digging to get more momentum to get through Havlat and drive through him. Kronwall only leaves his feet after the hit was made at which point he had no control because the momentum carried him forward. Nice try though. The puck was between the feet of Havlat which is his own fault for keeping his head down with the puck so close.
@vtecrkp1 The rule says that if you jump or lunge into you're opponent when hitting them its illegal and a charge, and if you look through the hit slowly you can see his right skate leave the ice right before he hits him. And Im not talking about after the hit where he's a foot off the ground. You can see this if you pause right around 1:50 or 1:51. It also looked like he got him in the head with the forearm. With that said though, I did not agree with the game misconduct call.
@kuzy7 His right skate did leave the ice. It could also be argued that it left the ice on normal skating stride. Lunging= charging which is why everyone was so confused with the interference call and misconduct. I would've been more ok seeing a charging call. All of this is up to interpretation of the hit and of the rule book, much like every other interference and penalty call.
@topgun966 I hate both teams, but that was a typical super man kronwall hit. guy leaves his feet every time.because NHL blows the Detroit Red Wings, nothing ever happens. guy is a waste.
I'm a Wings fan and the thing that pissed me off more than Kronwall getting the major was that dumbass Byfuglien checking Kronwall and starting shit over Havlat's body while he's unconscious. Just look at all of the skates next to his head and body!
@bravoromeojohn It's really more of a judgement call. Like, if you take a few strides to hit a guy, you're fine. But if you go like max velocity, then there's a problem.
Kronwall didnt leave the ice till after the hit, let's see you keep your feet on the ground after hitting someone with that kinda force...he does the same thing in every hit, Go Kronwall!
@bravoromeojohn you can leave your skates the moment you hit a guy. It would make sense that someone who is driving their force in a vauge upward motion would come off their skates.
@TheErcinator No worries man. I'm a huge Wings fan, and enjoy watching Kronwall destroy Blackhawks in particular, but I always understood the rule of "Charging" as this....Taking more than three strides or jumping before hitting an opponent?!?
@MANDELAZZA It does. That was a horrible penalty call. Obviously a clean hit. There should have been a call on Byfuglien for the hit on Kronwall after the intital hit.
@Valorisblack It definitely wasn't interference which is what was called. In terms of him leaving the ice I don't think he did. The impact caused his feet to leave the ice that's all. Just my opnion.
@rossbay Nope. Definitely not in 2009...and not even now. You can make shoulder contact with the head straight on...just not from the blindside. Open ice head-on checks are perfectly legal as long as an elbow does not make contact with the head, and at least one skate is on the ice at time of contact.
Hawks fans were pissed because Havlat got smoked by a legal check. Pictures have long been posted showing Kronwall's feet on the ice at the time his shoulder made contact with Havlat's face.
@rossbay If you watch from the side replay nothing actually touches his head. The shoulder to shoulder impact causing his head to fly back which would be enough to knock him out.

@rossbay If you watch from the side replay nothing actually touches his head. The shoulder to shoulder impact causing his head to fly back which would be enough to knock him out.

They say don't mess with texas, but you never fuck with Detroit.

the only reason this pisses me off is cause kronwall pussied out of fighting after. come on nik nut up and go someone
nikepumps123 2 months ago
@nikepumps123 Don't you think NOT fighting pisses the other team off more? He shouldn't have to defend himself after destroying someones CLEANLY.
kiker0909 2 months ago
@nikepumps123 Yeah I agree. That's why I don't like Kronwall either.
grunge10111 2 months ago
@nikepumps123 Why would he fight? He already knocked out one guy, what would he stand to gain by fighting?
