Hey, just wanted to let everyone know I've left Open Labs and started a new company called Music Computing. Check out the new gear at Music Computing or click the link below for videos. - Thanks, Victor Wong
hey bro, this was awsome, next time though, hit that button in the bottom right to record it all, then bounce the file, and sync it with the video in windows moviemaker or what ever video editing software your using :)
Wait! So you have to match the beat yourself? ooh i thought when u the click orange buttons it automatically matches the beat for you, but i guess not..can u tell me
@ozzyt9 This is a controller for Ableton Live. You have to "warp" all of your tracks/clips in advance (AKA tell the software where the beats are) so that when you wanna lay down the tunes, the beats line right up and you can focus on other things instead! So you have to do a tiny bit of advance prep, but it ultimately allows for more creativity than some other setups...
This was a great video and remix, thanks for showing how you do! Any particular Audio Effects you like in ableton to really take advantage of the knobs on the abc40?
@Modestas I think StephenCGregory needs to invest in an audio interface. Sounds like this was played thru speakers, then recorded with a crappy computer mic, then compressed EVEN MORE via Youtube uploading.
@drummerguy711 you're exactly right, in fact it was worse. It was recorded through a video camera mic! Now that I realised people actually watch these videos Ive upped the production quality a bit :)
hate pop music in general, write techno, just got Ableton=joy
Anyway.. was expecting not to like this..but its wicked. the whole ambiance of the track, everything fits well, the drums are sweet..where are they from? u got skills and great ideas man..also u are makin me want that beloved APC even more..saving bit by bit for it. think my ideas/productionworkflow is gonna pretty much explode..as i can make my tracks with that live, on the fly feel..build the tension..no more crappy mouse fiddlin!
Hey man I loved this alot, it got me to buy the APC 40 in fact. I posted a video response to your Love Story remix with my own. Hopefully you get to listen to it.
hey buddy great mix. I understand what you meant in the description but it still turned out nice. Im purchasing the apc 40 in a couple days just wondering if there you have any suggestions for mods, and if I decide to mod will I need to upgrade to 8?
@banol9 Look up "sample inversion" techniques. Using an instrumental and the original track played together, you can extract the vocals. It will change your life.
@stephencgregory is this easily done? I'm looking into buying an APC40 [note: I have never used any type of music equipment like it and have no idea how abelton live works] in your opinion is this something that i can pick up and master in my spare time?
Nice track...and a friend of mine who plays live in big clubs like watergate or berghain, tresor in berlin said, the APC40 would only worth it, if you play live with it...i think its a real huge tool for producing too, what can you say? is it also heavy useful for studiowork?? please answer, dont know if it will worth the price
I think you have to think of it as an instrument more than a studio tool. It's a bit like having a pair of turn tables and only using them in the studio. You could still get great results, but it's more fun live.
The point is, that i want to have a nice controller, to controll ableton. i dont want to route my clips on any knobs or buttons on a m-audio-like controller, with push buttons...i want this button matrix, because thats what im searching for, the ability to controll live intuitive...i think launchpad could be enough for me, but all those faders and controllers are useful too,...do you think the lauchnapd will be enough for me, to produce and play live a few times?
I guess it's personal preference, but I found the launchpad's lack of volume sliders really annoying. I use all the other stuff besides the button matrix a lot - every time you do a filter sweep, volume change, effect change etc. I would really recommend getting a hardware controller of some sort though. I have had Live for a long time, but it only really became my preferred sequencer once I got the APC40 - just makes everything so easy now.
thats exactly what im thinkin about controllers like this too...live is only really great with controllers of this sort. i think i will get me a APC40... it saves some place on the desk because of the integrated faders and controllers, its full controll over live...just one time again, finally: do you think it will make sense, to buy the APC40, to primary do producing with it? or is it more to play live, and to produce its better to use for example launchpad and some other controllers? greetz..
I think it works great in the studio as well, in reality most of my work is in the studio, and I don't feel it's wasted at all even if I never play live with it. Personally I wouldn't go for a launchpad over an APC40, but that's just because it doesn't do all the things the APC already does.
Thank you! that really helped me a lot for my decision. Its important for me, to hear reports like yours, straight from the users they work with it, and they mean it honestly...all the resellers can say everything to sell theyr product, but a user says what he thinks about it. and most videos are about playing live and jamming with the APC...thanks! ...greetz
Sure. The percussion shakers and congos are from the Liquid Grooves sample library, and the main beat itself is called DL_HipHop_90bpm3 and it's off the loopmasters samples that ship with Ableton Live.
really cool man, i am doing similar stuff with my apc40 (sometimes a little more detailed). But still really digged the tune (dont know the original).
Im inlove with it
