  • Great job....I don't care waht anybody says when it comes to rock and roll "THE STONES" are still the king!

  • This is the funniest thing I've seen in a while. What a hoot!

  • Great Post. One of my favorites.

  • Kudos to The Stones! They always show respect to the music that came before. This performance gives me chillbumps--the vintage Gibson and all. Mick does have Texas creds. He bought a ranch near Dallas and lived there for parts of the nearly 20 years that he and Jerry Hall were together.

  • Ronnie Wood plays pedal steel here and on other Stones country songs. You can see him on Far Away Eyes in the Martin Scorcese movie Shine a Light. He's been part of the Stones since 1975 when he replaced Mick Taylor.

  • God Bless the Stones for paying tribute.

    --MRRockJock13

  • Los Stones podrían ser un grupo de Country perfectamente. Dominan este estilo y le dan un toque personal que a mí me gusta mucho. Buen trabajo Ronnie con el slide.

  • Who is playing steel guitar on this song? Is he someone they hired just for this concert or part of the Stones? He is really great.

  • @earth2res2 He's just for the concert, his name is Wang Dang Doodle. Really good isn't he!

  • Who's that on the gorgeous Universal Emmons?

  • Hell, Mick might not have been born in Texas, but I guess he got there as fast as he could. Never too late!

  • Great performance. Wish the Stones would do a country album, Mick and Keith taking turns with lead vocals. Wouldn't that be awesome?

  • Hate that guy at :54 who looks like he's yelling "NO !!"

  • Now I have reason to love the Stones!

  • F`n fab, just brill..

  • Man it was just such a trip when he started jammin out on this. Freaked everybody out. KUDOS to The Stones for showing much love for Texas! This was just such a damn good concert. God Bless 'Ol Waylon & God Bless Bob Wills!

  • good job govenor

  • The Stones have always been my favorite rock band, and this just makes it official. Best band EVER!

  • THE BEST BAND EVER OF THE FUCKING UNIVERSE.

  • Yikes! Not sure what to say... Well, I love the Stones, so it's a good enough try for some English dudes and a mark of respect for Waylon and Bob Wills. Nobody will ever do this song like Waylon though.

  • great job that is how country is supposed to sound

  • This is why the Stones are the best rock band ever.

  • two wankers in the bunch that just don't get it.

The Stones tipping their hats is pretty damn awesome.

  • Bob Wills, Waylon Jennings and the Rolling Stones are still the Kings.

  • Love the Stones. Love country. This was great. Ronnie is amazing with the steel!

  • NICE--------end of chat.. long live the stones.

  • Oh now this is an unbelievable great surprise!!!

  • this is truly great,

to those sissy punks bad-mouthing the great state of Texas, you are the worst form of coward, come on down to Texas and start flappin' your gums and see what happens to you ;-)

  • I'd like to hear The Who or Zeppelin try this...only the Stones could pull it off...hats off to them!

  • Steers & Queers.

  • this is apsolutle horibel im sorry i like the rolling stones but this is fucking bad they should leve it to waylon

  • @cowboyfromky Look, they never claimed to be a country band...But damn, they're British and sound a lot better than most country bands sound today, and hats off to them for giving it a wink and a nod. I'd like to have heard Waylon try Brown Sugar and see how that would have turned out.

  • @cowboyfromky Waylon is dead, did you not get the memo and The Stones did a great job of this song seeing as how they had never played it and only rehearsed it one time at soundcheck. Fuckn idiot

  • Yeah! This may not be the best version, but the Stones are showing some much deserved respect to Mr. Wills and Texas music! I'm still finding new reasons to love the Stones, this being the most recent!

  • @tiranchula Not to mention all the respect the Stones and the crowd have for the BEST outlaw country singer ever, Waylon Jennings. Gone way too soon.

  • Now - that's respect - music is music no matter what you sing- just as long as you do it well - good one lads - changed my mind about you altogther.

  • @pyrofella Hello. Admittedly I'm a huge, commited Stones fan so I love whatever they do. But you're right . . . this shows respect not only for the region but for Waylon also. I read once that no matter what country the Stones perform in Mick learns at least one phrase in the native language so he can greet the audience in words they understand. Respect and good will. The music speaks for itself.

  • who is that playing the steel guitar? he looks like Keith, but Keith's on the Lead guitar

  • @rockin1953 That's Ronnie Wood!

  • @rockin1953 It's Ronnie Wood. Member of the stones since the early/mid 70s.

  • Waymore pinned enternal greatness when he dropped this motherfucker!!!!

  • Keith is lovin' it...he is said to have always liked country music.

  • I was at the show and the Stones "shrunk" the stage with that song. It was as if they were playing a small club. They nailed it.The Austin show was the second of two shows that weekend. They played in El Paso two nights earlier. That night they wowed the crowd by playing the opening chorus of the Marty Robbins classic, "El Paso". Very cool.

  • How many of the people in the audience actually know who Bob Wills is?

  • Ronnie Wood? Ronnie did! Ronnie shouldn't have.

  • The Stones know Waylon

  • This is where America / the USA, Comes together. We fight, and we hold hands. United we stand!, and Bob wills is still the king!

  • Bob Wills is still the king

  • Wow !! Stones doing Countrry , Not bad for a Rocker LOL

Sure Enjoyed hearing This , I never heard this one before

    Excellent video

  • WoW I love this!!!!!!!

First time I heard this one and so nice!!

Thanks to SuperJumpback who shared with me:)

  • stones have a great respect for country and credit it for much of their influence. rock on!

  • Certainly a great way to please a Texas audience: an unexpected treat for us all!

  • This is why the Stones are a great band.

  • mick would ya mind dropping the phony ass accen t its insulting sorry bro........sing it like you mean it with english blues its ok to do that lol

  • yeah.

  • This is amazing.

  • i have heard it all now,the stones singing country music.but i love it.Bob Wills would be pleased, and if he were alive maybe he could sing jumping jack flash.

  • @skyangel1100 They did alot of country, well not alot, but check out far away eyes, you may like that as well

  • @spikedawg1970 you were right spikedawg 1970,i just heard far away eyes by the stones, and i loved it,in fact i remember back in the summer of 1980 hearing far away eyes by the stones, but i only heard it 1 time and had no clue it was them, so when you told me about it,i checked it out,and was well pleased so thanx 4 telling me about it.

  • @spikedawg1970 I checked out "Far Away Eyes," and I LOVE it.

  • Mick Jagger is one hell of a lot better country singer than he is a rock singer. Also, he didn't choreograph every move he made singing this song. How about a country album, Mick?

  • First time I had seen this clip! It is outstanding! For a Brit like Mick Jagger to tackle this country classic is very impressive, and I salute him (and the Stones) for trying it.

Jagger is maybe the hardest working entertainer I have ever seen.

  • den76-52

    Great . I'm impressed

  • What really makes this is that the Stones GET IT.

They GET country music. Especially Keef of course, but they all have a feel for it.

  • @Rabadamtimtimt I agree Rab 100% I saw the Stones Live in Nashville and they were very respectful of being in country music's capital. The fact is MOST truly gifted musicians have a lot of respect for other performers and other types of music. The Stone will tell you that they grew up listening to a variety of music.

  • Awesome that The Rolling Stones did this Waylon Jennings song, besides rock their country style induced songs (like Dead Flowers) sound great.

  • nice!!! they did really well with this and the accent is definetly different from what i'm used to down here in south tx

  • I sure as hell hope he said Waylon Jennings..not Jenning.

  • @patman4980 he was moving away from the mike so you missed the s

  • Well the honkytonks in Texas are my natural second home...where you tip your hat to the ladies and the Rose of San Antone'...

  • Great tribute from the Stones to the TEXAS KING.

  • ronnie can play a shoestring and make is sound great

  • I was at this concert. So good! I can't say I'm a huge fan of this song, or most country music in general. But the stones rocked it nonetheless.

  • deniapavao THIS IS FUCKIN GREAT WAYLON WOULD BE PROUD THE STONES WERE DOING COUNTRY BEFORE YOU WERE BORN OPEN YOUR EARS ITS THE FUCKIN ROLLING STONES

  • I grew up on music called western swing....no matters who's in Austin Mick Jagger is definatly not the king.

  • @deniapavao i bet he can spell definitely correctly though,......

  • @goonchistaw

    see what i mean???morons!!!

    lol

  • @goonchistaw Give me a break man. Im not the greatest speller but I do know good music when I hear it. Now, I love Waylon Jennings and I like the Rolling Stones but I still think they butcher this song.

  • @deniapavao sorry man, no offence was intended , take it easy ....

  • @deniapavao they simply pay tribute to the greatest country artist that ever lived, not bad for a rock and roll band

  • @hermanmunster61

Right i`m from Texas and i`m a huge stones fan!! My favorite band! But Texas has morons too i`m glad i`m not one of them!! I know waylon would be proud!!

  • Ha, whatever.

  • @deniapavao

Well just leave if u don`t like it!

  • @imaRoLLingStonzFan see what you mean stonezfan ;)

  • @goonchistaw

yes Stones fan for sure Tha`s for life

  • @imaRoLLingStonzFan i know, i see , for sure ,.,.,.,.....

    defineitly ;)

  • @goonchistaw Look at his name "Hillbilly" OMG I Hope people dont think just cause u from Texas u a "HillBilly"!! Texas is not hillbilly maybe some parts of texas is a lot of hills but it`s nothing like what u call hillbilly!!

  • @imaRoLLingStonzFan ha ha i know , i saw walker texas ranger ;)

jaggers learnt his texas accent from jerry hall ,....

  • @goonchistaw

yeah Jerry hall is from Mesquite Texas close to Dallas!

and yes she sure has a texas drawl!

he learnt it well being with her all those years

  • @imaRoLLingStonzFan yeah the same one he "married" her with !!!

  • @imaRoLLingStonzFan

Texans and cowboys are not hill billies and many of them are very wealthy compared to the average population despite wearing cowboy hats. That is like calling John Wayne, Johnny Cash, Waylon and Willie hill billies. Hill Billies don't wear cowboy hats and keep guns in their boots and trucks. Anyone who says they are hill billies are culturally ignorant and don't know anything about American anthopology.

  • @Buzzz46 Yes so true!!I

  • @imaRoLLingStonzFan Greetings! I am a native Texan and I have to agree with you that most of Texas is not made up of hills. However, to me, and I think to many others, the term 'hillbilly' is more a frame of mind than something to determine the type of people who are raised in any mountainous area. I consider myself hillbilly due to the way that I was raised in a rural setting. I realize that I and others like me are a dying breed. I have new admiration for Mick Jaeger

  • @dwilli48 Yes That`s so true :-) Happy Holidays!!

  • @imaRoLLingStonzFan Correct....Texas is Cowboy country.....The stones have had stretches of a country taste

  • @deniapavao totally agree

  • kudos for the steel guitar

  • Bob Wills is really still The King for sure

  • Great steel from Woodie...does it justice as the Stones do great country music!

  • I think this is sooooo cool....not so much the actual performance (which was a little rough) but the very fact they did it! It's great that they crossed musical and cultural lines to pay homage to two American legends. What a classy group of guys the Stones must be. Since hearing only the Jennings version for so many years, Jaeger's english-accented voice singing this song makes me chuckle every single time I listen to this. :-)

  • i was there it was quite a site too see such great rock legends perform a waylon song.

  • Mick coulda sang this much better.

  • lol well done keith...stick to rock n roll tho, WAYLON 4evr

  • They should do a country album. Props to them for trying country.

  • Over the years they've done enough country to fill a cd.

  • Yeah Well done by the stones...but it does not sound Great

  • LOL Yeah it does suit Waylon's voice better but as u can see im a stones fan I also love old country music (out law music)but mick didn`t do to bad

  • I give em props for doing a great country song......mediocer performance
