  • Ouch, you shouldn't read so many ukrainian manuals like "History for the 5th class". And never - you here me, N-E-V-E-R - look at the Globe of Ukraine. It's not good even for your brains.

  • I'm astonished that somobody tries to teach us (Russians) our own history... it's very very funny, but it also tells me on you as about very impudent person. Sorry...

  • The Carpatho-Rusyns are the direct descendants of one of these Slavic tribes that has lived along the Uz River called the White Croats (Bilyj Horvaty). By the 900s, waves of Slavic settlers calling themselves Rus' came from the East and began settling into the Carpathians, intermarrying and assimulated with the White Croats. From the Kievan Rus' kingdom they adopted their national name of "Rusiny," meaning -- the inhabitant or descendant of Rus'.

  • In time it became the common name of all southeastern Slavic tribes from the Poprad River in Prijasevska Rus' all the way to the Caspian Sea and the River Don. The Anti consisted of several East Slavic tribes, such as:

    Polans

    Drevlyans

    Severians

Dulebes (that later likely became Volhynians and Buzhans)

White Croats (Ukrainian mountaineers - Lemkos are direct offshoot descendants of White Croats)

    Tivertsi

    Ulichs

  • which lived on the territory of today's Ukraine. Undoubtedly these 7 tribes merged to form ethnic group known today as Ukrainians. The Ukrainian language is an East Slavic language and Ukrainian people belong to the same subdivision of Slavs as Rusyn (Ukrainian offshoot, as all Ukrainians were referred as Rusyns or Ruthenians before, from Kievan Rus' state of proto-Ukraine), Russian (which emerged as vernacular from Church-Slavic) and Belarusian.

  • my friend you should learn that we do not have the talk about Russian history, but on our (Slavic) history!give this Біла Хорватія in google and read everything carefully.

  • my dear sherrmat... it's better to read real sources like "Povest vremyannyh let" (and other chronicles) than propagandistic brochures and pamphlets sponsored by modern Ukrainian security service.

This makes it possible for you to understand "Rus" and "Rusyn" etymology and origins

  • give this in google Біла Хорватія!!!!and read everything carefully!!!!

  • Greetings from Russia!!! Word "Rusyn"(Русин) you can see in "Povest vremyannyh let" ancient chronicle and there it designates Russian people. In "Russka Pravda"(Руська Правда) it's the same!!!

  • In main Russia this selfdefinition (Rusyn) became obsolete. But part people were isolated due to repeating occupations: AustroVengria, Poland(RechPospolita)... and because of it they saved old selfdefinition and precinctive traditions!

  • Is the English-speaking guy "Rusyn"? He cannot pronounce correctly even a couple of Slavic words.

  • net to byli Slawanie katory zyli na polanch, to zwano ih Polanami a oni zwali sjebja Wendy a nie Ljaxy...Polaki nazwa powstala w 1300-1400 wieku...

  • mocny01, ты сам з видкиль?
