@ Everyone! Mestre Acordeon told me personally one day... "There was no such thing as Benguela at Mestre Bimba classes! The name of the Berimbau rhythm created by Mestre Bimba is BANGUELA! The Mestre Bimba Record says clearly Banguela. I do not doubt that there is a NEW Berimbau rhythm and game named BENGUELA but not with Mestre Bimba's Capoeira Regional! Now do you doubt Mestre Acordeon?

Many people write here that Banguela is the correct one and that Benguela is a city in Africa, but I have never heard of this before. Where ever I have visited and to whom I've talked to, we've always said benguela. It is a city in Africa yes, but so is Angola as well and so it shouldn't be any problem because of this. I say benguela, as my Mestre.

@elroyski - If you google "Curso de Capoeira Regional", the CD made by Mestre Bimba, you will see it's spelled Banguela. At least according to Mestre Bimba, who to my knowledge, created the rhythm. :-)

@elroyski the original name is benguela, but the name of banguela, like a bunch of ppl like to say, come form the words of mestre Bimba who had one particular form of pronnuciation for some words, for exemple to say "turista" in portuguese, he sais "torista", and for "benguela", he sais "banguela" and that is the hole history. Another point is that the word banguela means one person wihtout theets , and benguela it´s the region of Africa were was extracted the higher number of persons

Porque burrice? Acho que vc que que esta dando uma de burro,o toque criado na epoca do mestre Bimba se chamava Banguela mesmo,até hoje alguns mestres mais velhos a chamam assim.Esse toque foi criado por um aluno de Bimba que era Banguelo, e Bimba sempre falava:
