  • Why wasn't Bruce Willis' hair given it's own credit on the show?

  • the 80's was the best time ever. Nice people dressed smart. Watched this and midnight caller brilliant shows wish i could go back to them times.

  • I like this! This has been up-pitched a lil bit, and sounds better, to me, then the original version. A big hi-five to whoever did this! But, regarding the show, I didn't start watching it til I got older. Guess this came at the same time some other show, that I liked, came on. Even so, I have always like this theme song:)

  • I used to watch Moonlighting all the time. I loved the banter between David and Maddie! I wish I could go back to the 80's again.

  • Holy Shit, I can't believe how much hair Bruce Willis had back then. O_O

  • ahhhhh..... los 80´s

  • @keith4291 me toooo

  • i luv this even thow i was so young i still remember the bronx back in the 80s

  • lov the 80s

  • Wow... Bruce Willis before he was John McClain or Butch Coolidge... It's hard to remember such a thing.

  • Back in the day when TV and music still ruled. I miss the days of TV theme songs. Blame greed by the networks to axe TV intro's so they can squeeze in more commercial space.

  • In my 20's in the 80's. Could hardly get through this show without my girlfriend cuddling up and wanting a snog!

  • Such a gorgeous, classy, smooth groove by Mr Jarreau.

Loved this decade sooooooo much, miss it a lot!!! XXXXX

  • Awesome show bruce is nr 1

  • great....but also sad and depressing for some reason..........i wonder why , is it the still photos?

  • @pulle88888888 Maybe you miss the 80's, as I do? I feel like you. Crying, smiling and remembering, sadness and happiness at the same time. If you didn't live those days, then are very remarkably sensitive.

Well, neons in the night have a powerful effect. Music and Jarreau's voice increase it.

  • allright mad dog huntley we got ya now

  • IM A GROWN ASS HETOROSEXUAL BLACK MAN. BORN IN 1979 JUST IN TIME FOR THIS TO MAKE ME CRY WATCHING IT IN 20 FUCKING 11. WHERE THE FUCK DID THE EIGHTIES GO MAN............... WHERE.????

  • Classy and smooth.

  • i feel 20 years younger

  • Why does bruce willis have hair?

  • Este intro captura la escencia de mediados de los 80 (85,86,87) a la perfección y claro, me recuerda mi infancia. Saludos.

  • I can't take Bruce Willis seriously when I watch Pulp Fiction now.

  • WHAT bruce willis was in that show??? I heard that show in conversation for 5 years now and didnt know ahahah

  • I absolutely disliked the '80's, had a crap childhood, that's why i watched so much TV, And I really like this show, funny how I just saw Cybill Shepard on a new show called "No Ordinary Family", man she looks good but "older", I'm definitely feeling older myself.

  • Classic television opening. ABC had a special way about their opening sequence production values. I don't think another network could have touched them at the time. Beautifully shot and imagined opening. Chills!

  • @kalamaty No doubt. i was born in 82 and i think it sucks i was too young to appreciate the time. everything sucks now.

  • I have such a warm sensation in my heart right now.great memories.I loved them both.great show.

  • this was a big hit in Eastern Europe, evan now it is still aired on AXN

  • I miss my high school days. Sigh

  • Gosh I loved them together. such amazing chemistry......and Willis was so hot!

  • @italoluder Well I'am glad you feel that way because they didn't get along off the set.

  • @dal4018 Yes I know. They hated each other....unbelieveable! I think I will enjoy the dvd this evening ;-)

  • @italoluder I always wondered why that was maybe it was a case of huge egos.

  • I love the melancholic style of this show. This is my definition of a funny and romantic show, not the Jennifer Aniston’s trashy movies. After the end of every episode, you feel a mix of little sadness and happiness.

  • If ever a song captures the 80s for me, it's this one. A grown up yet mad tv show which, as a teenager, I thought was the cleverest thing going. This theme takes me back to being at school and feeling so good because the latest episode was on that night, on my black and white portable! The album is available at Amazon, I had to order it after seeing this posting! And I've ordered the first 3 seasons on dvd as well. The last season or two became disappointing, as I recall. Thanks for posting!

  • @NameCC8687 You could not have put it better, this was one of my favourite shows on tv.

  • I watch this on ABS CBN 2 in the Philippines

  • Does anyone know the title song???

  • @Adominarch "moonlighting" by Al Jarreau

  • ah, the 80s...

  • I miss the 80's too. I get this strange longing feeling in my stomach when I visit the old tv tunes. Just missing my childhood I guess...

  • Memories of my childhood

  • Is this from a syndicated version? It's missing the "charming and bright, laughing and gay" part about 0:21 - maybe a specific episode?

  • @tejaswoman

Yeah, I'd like to know too. I was watching the dvd version last night, and the credits here are more akin to what I remember, with the lettering gradually flowing into focus (though I can't remember the item about the lyrics).

  • i

miss being young wth did my life go lmao

  • Great show, a favorite of all time.

  • excellent and well-written show! One of the very best!

  • the memories this brings back is unbelievable!!....just another kid growing up in the eighties!

james brown once said that he never outlived the sixties.......I will never outlive the eighties......

  • I drive a BMW because of this show!

  • i like very much this tv serie, i remember my childhood now i dont see tv series anymore because all are a big shit and boring.

esta serie es la mas chingona!!!.

  • the best tv show ever. i always watch it and always fascinated by main actors...spontaniosly repet inside of me: beautifull cybill shepherd, ingenious bruce willis...

  • I was born in 1980s, I saw this serial in the 1990s but still it crushes me inside:)

  • Moonlighting was brilliant TV series from old good 80's. Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd were stunning.I hated only one thing - when Bruce started talking to camera and cameramen. I never appreciated such kind of humour.

Anyway I miss this beautiful show. While epoch of the 80's had Kim Basinger, Madonna, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathleen Turner as sex symbols, TV screen had Cybill. She was stunning woman.

  • I remember liking this show back in the day but I don't think I'd like it today. It got old fast and the ratings plummeted as soon as they "did it" together, rolling around on the floor, which was absurd. Then the pregnancy part of the show was a total disaster. People stopped tuning in and it was cancelled. They should never have let the characters "do it" before marriage. That's what killed the show.

  • Shows like this aren't really made anymore and they weren't entirely made during its era either.

Essentially this is a synthesis between a detective drama, a screwball comedy and romantic comedy.

MOONLIGHTING was a hard show to produce and a bit of a groundbreaker in terms of its referential, fourth wall breaking plots crammed with rhyming dialogue.

Forget the sex. This show might have lasted a season or more but not much more.

  • Plenty of characters in numerous tv shows "do it" and much more and those shows aren't canceled.

Your conservative views notwithstanding, MOONLIGHTING was partly about the heat between David and Maddie but at some point their relationship had to be consummated.

Had David and Maddie not had sex at some point, the audience would also have gotten tired.

MOONLIGHTING was several shows in one and unlikely to repeated in today's realistic era.

  • @daughterrevolution What killed "Moonlighting" was Cybill Shepherd's real life pregnancy with twin daughters. It forced the writers into storylines that just weren't as hip and sexy as the previous seasons and Cybill was no longer the sleek- looking counterpart to leading man Bruce Willis. Once Maddie became a mother the show turned into "I Love Lucy."

  • @andyinoregon I agree that Cybil's pregnancy forced the writers to craft different storylines but by then the heat between David and Maddie was getting serious anyway. The problem storywise was that it was getting harder and harder to keep these two from either getting married or becoming a serious couple. Having Maddie get married seemed cruel to David.

  • I bought my mom the entire DVD set of this show for Christmas a couple years back. It was one of the few shows back then that me, Mom, and my brother ALL liked and would actually watch together.

Needless to say, I have the complete DVD set myself.....one of only two live-action TV shows I have on DVD.

  • I was always excited when this show came on. Madeline and Dave had such a great rapport together. The writing was clever and cute. What a chemistry.

  • Bruce with hair and Cybill with giant shoulders- the perfect combo!!!

  • This was such a great show with clever writing and great execution. It was so ahead of its time, that I know if they came out with some TV special or even movie, it would be received well. Just got to get those script writers back. :p

  • i forgot, but isnt this show set in chicago? or la?

  • Los Angeles

  • swell.... thanx

  • One smooth, groovy jazz tune, one smokin' hot babe! Can you get more 80s than that?!?

  • Bruce And Cybil, I Love That Combo. This Is Still One Of The Funniest And Coolest Shows Ever!

  • Gone are the days of great shows with unmatchable music TV openings. Now they live in the deepest channels of our minds and our hearts. Miss those days.

  • merhaba, ben bayan viola, kemanın büyüğü, kontrabas ın küçüğü..:)))

  • @cipsofulya exactly!!!

  • i'm 22, when this serie is playing in TV i'm a baby, but i like this serie, i've all the serie in DVD. it's my favoritte serie, i really love it.

  • Great times gone by. I'm crying now.

  • I just ordered the first 2 seasons on DVD and am actually excited about their arrival. I remember this show fondly and haven't seen much since it stopped, so I'm hoping it's as good as I recall!

Also: Cybil Shepherd. Fwooooar! Marks out of ten, I'd give 'er one, etc :)

  • nice one !!

  • Anyone know who that sunglssed billbaord woman is. I think she is now dead, but was a California icon, I just do not remember her name.

  • @gmonet46 she just had one name like holly or heidi

  • are you talking about anna nicole smith? but it´s not her, i´m rather sure ...

  • No, it was not her, but this gal became a Hollywood icon for those glasses, hair and udders! She did numerous appearences, but I just cannot seem to pin her name down.

  • Right, it's Angelyne.

  • i am sorry, i have no idea. in these (moonlighing) times i only carred for cybill ;-)

  • Weren't the 80's awesome? Just to go back to high school for one day... I'd give anything.

  • It was a great show until they became too obsessed with "shipping" David and Maddie and it lost its sense of fun.

  • Al Jarreau sing this beautiful song!

  • Best show ever me and my mom watch it all the time and im a teenage boy!

  • i loved this show but it went down hill after season three season four maddie and david wernt even together in the same episode ?/

  • ok you're right !

  • Miss this show!!!!

  • what an amazing song!:"nothing can change you ''.....''moonlighting strangers we just met at the way!''poetry in motion :D

  • that's....."MOONLIGHTING STRANGERS....WHO JUST MET ON THE WAY"

  • I was 18 when this TV show was a hit,

It was really nostalgic to see this old films again, It gets you back in time during the 1980's, Its ben a couple of decades back

but for me, its loaded with 80's memories.

  • one of the best from the 80's

  • I miss the 80's... :'(

  • Yep don't we all especially these tough ecomomic times.

  • Happen to have or know anyone here with the moonlighting with that more upbeat tune?

  • I'm glad others have fond memories too. Ta "riksux". I wasn't sure if it was Wed. or Fri nights.

  • classiccccccccccc

  • My mom loves this show so we bought the dvds and watched them and its my favourite show ever! Im a 15 year old boy too!

  • Sure you are.

    That's what they all say.

Then you end up dancing in a cage in a whore house in El Salvidor and suddenly you're 18 years old.

I've heard it all before Christopher.

  • lovely days, why isn't this back in the tv?we all missed it pretty much better than the new films etc!

  • tv now sucks they dont make them like this anymo

  • I wish this show was on T.V. again...

...Not just every Friday night, but twenty four hours a day.

  • Do bears bear? Do bees be?

  • Do ducks duck?

  • As a kid in the 80s, the was the only thing I WANTED TO WATCH before I went to bed...I could have stayed up as late as I wanted to! Forget about the fact that your eyes were tinged with sadness then...let's get the Moonlighting DVD series and forget the rest of the '80s ever happened!

  • Oh, and don't think that I ain't wit' da rap, muddafukkaz,

I got Ja Rule, 213 and all kinds of other rap that was inspired

by CSI: Miami and other old-school soapz.

You see, this was one of the ancient soapz, it led to Beverly Hills 90210, which inspired crime shows like CSI and NCIS.

You are never going to get something as bad-assed as

this again on live prime-time tv. Trust me. You won't.

  • Forget about doing a movie, they should resurrect this series from the dead! People used to say that the people that made this series in the '80s were lazy...nowadays people are too

lazy to even do that little work. In the meantime, try and get

Moonlighting on DVD...it's a classic work of art that is irreplacable...even more important to civilization than

all of the g4ngst4 sh¡t that's in the Louvre. Yo, keep it cool homie!

  • People always like to blast this as a rip off of Remington Steele, but I think it stands on it's own quite well. This was a hell of a show the first two years. Who'd have predicted that Bruce Willis would be the mega-star coming out of this?

  • I remember seeing this show on CBC when I was about 8 years old. This is something that come from the time when

television ACTUALLY existed. Thumbs up :D !

  • More 80's :

    /view_play_list?p=2B0D757DAEFF33F4

  • one from the good days. just seeing those evening stills pictures and the way it looked and felt took me back. i miss those evenings a lot.

  • I remember watching this with my mum on the BBC here in the UK!!! This was my childhood!!!

  • I used to watch this on BBC2! I'm 29 and loved it , theme tune is so cool.

  • As a kid in the 80s, This was the last thing I was allowed to watch before bed. I used to love the opening credits, but they'd be tinged with sadness knowing that I'd have to go to bed straight after.

  • This intro rocks.

  • Loved this show, the chemistry between David Addison and Maddie Hayes was unforgettable. It was great having Cybil Shepard back in the limelight, she is so talented &BTW she is a major character in Taxi Driver if unfamilar w/it). Forgot how YOUNG Bruce Willis was! Such a cutie!

  • Great programme great theme song terriffic singer total package.

  • I just bought the whole box set from Amazon. Love this show. It is my favorite of all times!

  • Miss DiPesto!

  • You're absolutely right! I really meant to reference Allyce Beasley as their receptionist...whose name escapes me at the moment.

  • Let's not forget how wonderful Doris Roberts was, either, as Mildred! What a wonderful series!

  • Your thinking or Remington Steel with Stephanie Zimbalist and Pierce Brosnan.

This show never as far as I can recollect any Doris Roberts episodes to it.

  • Not only did I love Maddie Hayes, but I addored the cute relationship between Ms. Depesto and Herb the sandwich guy.

  • I was so hot for David Addison.

  • Can someone please tell me what this show is about? I have never seen the show but I heard it was good so I was thinking of buying the dvd. Please press reply if you can help. Thanks.

  • maddie use to be a model she lost her job david was a detective i think her father owned the detective agency he died and left it to her i think? it's been a long time lol

  • From Wikipedia:

Maddie Hayes, a former model who finds herself bankrupt after her accountant embezzles all of her liquid assets. She is left saddled with several failing businesses one of which is the City of Angels Detective Agency, helmed by the carefree David Addison. Addison persuades Hayes to keep the business and run it in partnership. The detective agency is renamed "Blue Moon Investigations" because Hayes was most famous as the spokesmodel for the Blue Moon Shampoo company.

  • An awesome show that fell victim to inflated egos. This is one I wish they'd bring back in reruns. I don't want to upset anyone, but I've had my fill of all the Law and Order and CSI's. Sometimes detective work can be funny, too. :)

  • bei tempi..anche i tf avevano classe!

  • The greatest tv show of all time. Nothing comes close to this. Ever!!!

  • The show rocked before they started "dating". Then it sucked.

  • Ótimo seriado! Beleza, romantismo e boa música. (E um pouco de ação de vez em quando.) Até a minha mãe gostava!

    Éramos felizes e não sabíamos.

  • I used to have a crush on her when I was a kid. Is that Aaron Neville aka the black Bee Gee singing?

  • no its Al Jarreau

  • AWESOME.

  • Someone can tell me who is the singer and the song´s name?

¿Alguien puede decirme quién es el cantante y el nombre de la canción?

  • Its Moonlighting by Al Jarreau

  • Al Jarreau

    "Moonlightning"

    :)

  • Cómo me gustaba esta serie. Me acuerdo que la ponían los domingos por la noche y me parecía mágica. Me encantaba la sintonía con las imágenes.Un saludo.

  • i was born in 1991 but i will agreed with the fossils

you don't need all the stupid crap that tv selling us now, hanna slutana living a fake life and all the trash on disney channel that radiates our airwaves man i hope in the 2010's they fix everything. and as a teenager i will say im one out of million

  • Oh, man, does this bring back memories! Sigh! ***BLUSH!***

  • wow los angeles in the 80's

  • God, I miss good opening credits.

  • Great music for an intro, and I loved this show. BTW - always wanted to know who was the punk looking girl from the magazine cover at 0:41.

  • Comment removed

  • punk-looking girl = pia zadora?

  • Thanks dude!

  • Angelique.

  • I can't believe how long this opening is. Seriously, there are only 2 main characters and one supporting one how can is last a minute?

I love this show. I just bought seasons 1&2 on DVD, too bad that the show got cancelled before I was born:(

  • Back in the 80's all the openings were long. Tv shows like Dynasty and Dallas were almost 2 minutes. Growing pains, Family Ties and Who's the Boss are all the same.

  • Yup. But then again, I really like this theme.

  • true...but for the most part at least they were original in the 80's.none of that fake ish like you see today....miss the 80's something serious

  • America in the 80's and early 90's was every guy's dream

    not so much anymroe
