Got this album when I was 8 years old. This song has always mystified me or better said hypnotized my consciousness. Still an amazing piece of music!!!
BTW - The film looks like was a remember seeing around the time that I got the album too. Magical Mystery Tour was being made that same year though released in the US in 1968
I love the story behind this song, from John flipping through a newspaper picking stories and making them his lyrics to paul having his thing and the two of them wanting to make it like a small operetta. Love how they kept the alarm clock in it since George Martin said it was originially used to mark the space in between. Then after they added all the horns, kept it because it sounded cool.Great tune. One of their songs where you can really hear the feeling behind their voices.especially John.
Sometimes ill be walking around wearing a beatles shirt when someone says i hate the beatles, their clearly a liar because when you listen to a beatles song you dont really lilten to it it feels more like your living it.
@IamKing2172 "... when you listen to a beatles song you dont really lilten to it it feels more like your living it...." That is so true! Their music was / is magic!
the genius of the beatles is that some of their song seem to include more than some novels in 500 pages. This one is so f**** great (and a bit spooky....)
According to Geoff Emerick in the book HERE, THERE & EVERYWHERE (highly recommended, btw), the boys and their close friends shot these home movies during the recording of "A Day in the Life."
Later on the footage was edited down to make a "promo" film, which of course is what we now know as a "music video." Amazing stuff for its time!
For the low low cost of $3, I picked up a used copy of Geoff Emerick's book called "Here There And Everywhere:My Life Recording The Beatles". Geoff, of course, was the Beatles engineer. Fascinating read, pick it up if you can...he discusses entire recording sessions in detail, including this one!
That sounds like a "must read" - - will defnitely pick it up. The technical side of the Beatles recordings was always fascinating to me. Their recordings sounded so perfect!
The most popular song of the 20th century and soon..the 21st century.

@IamKing2172 Sometimes I'm walking around with a Beatles wig when someone says," You f--king f-ggot," or the classic, "Are you a boy or a MFKN girl?"

I read the news today, oh boy...
Interesting to note that this is the only video in which a Monkee (Mike) is seen with a Beatle (John).

It's cool to see Mike Nesmith there with all the UK Rock royalty (Beatles, Mick & Keith, Donovan, Pattie and others).
The scene at EMI Studio 1 looked pretty intense....

@VeeFan1964 In Rock n' Roll Circus Lennon plays with Keith, and joke around with Jagger...
Also, in the video "all you need is love", a young Jagger is sitting there watching them and singing along.
P.D. My english sucks
