I found that the Theives guild works better for this either do this with Flynn or Cynric. NOTE they do have shifts so best to do it with both. Also pickpocketing them is no problem because they will not care if you pickpocket them. And finally they do not need to be asleep just wait until they unequip there bow/arrow and then take their steel arrows for whatever arrows you want instead.

@tacophailure - no it still works. did you try the 'while asleep' method in the second half of the video? also, the thieves guild is better for this if you want to try there.

@Toshfan7979 - when you don't have the perks, you have to follow the method in the second half of this video. wait for them to sleep and their arrows will show up. take all of the arrows on them and place a daedric arrow back on them.

Real strange, I did exactly this as in the video and the guard is still shooting Steel Arrows despite him no longer carrying any arrows except my Daedric one.

Or you can just buy the arrow and go into god mode and just shoot the same arrow while it makes copies of itself

If I walk away from this and go do something else, there's no limit to how many can be on the target at the time I come back to it, is there? Because this is really getting boring, and I've only got 450 so far.. I NEED MORREEE! XD Anyway, if there's a max limit to how many can be on the target at a time, I'll be upset. On PS3, when you're standing there collecting arrows, u can hold down the action button (default is X) and press the PS button twice (to open and close the menu) and then the game will be extra fast and u get arrows at about 1 per second.

@Personnn3 no i used the stormcloaks to make this video. if your guards aren't firing there are several tips buried away in these comments for how you can sprint into them to make them get closer and things like that. if you are a member of the thieves guild, just go to the cistern and pickpocket those guys because they shoot extremely fast and you'll get more arrows.

I have the perk to pickpocket his weapons, but I was just wondering - after I give him my daedric arrow to start shooting, can I leave and comeback to a target full of daedric arrows, or do I have to sit and wait for each one? Because I'd rather go off and be more productive while the guard is practicing....and thanks for the video.

@Cpschak7 - you can't leave and come back. if you want to speed things up, use the archers inside of the thieves guild instead. they shoot at about 5x the rate of the guards.

@pankers19 - not in solitude, but you can use the archer's in the thieves guild cistern once you are a member. they all shoot at a faster rate.

I was able to plant the arrows on to the guards, but only two guards are going outside to shoot and one of them is not shooting. I checked him and he does not have my arrow but it shows Deadric Arrows on his back. Even when I plant another on him, it says there isn't any on him.

If they dont have bows it's because they arent storm cloaks and imperials won't have a hunting bow

@pms00 yeah I saw it after reading the comments hehe thanx XD I also found out that it works if you store one of the type of arrow desired on an Archer NPC's body than raise it as a dead thrall.. if he still has a bow equipped he will use those arrows, always, and have an unlimited amount :)

@FreshieB23 - Head to the Cistern. Just about every member will use the targets. There is a dummy by the water in the center and then a room in the back with several different targets on different spots of the wall.

@MMusashi420 I had this problem too. But when you go inside at the end of their shift, their inventory shows them having arrows then. I dropped a daedric and took all the steel and the next day the duping began.

Yeah this works on x360. I'm a low level pickpocketer so what I did was fastfow. To 8pm pickpocket them switched arrows. I have two guards shooting ebony arrows lol. Its been 15 min and I got 120 arrows. Just sprint in to the guard shooting and eventually they will shoot together

Hey guys, for some reason this was not working for me and I found another option. Add 1 or 2 of whatever arrow you want to a guard's inventory and then give him a good punch, then run like hell so you're far enough that he'll try to shoot you, he'll equip your arrow because it's better than steel. Then quickly surrender before he can fire the arrow. He'll return to the target and you'll get the same outcome.

I just figured out that you can get the second soldier to start shooting arrows by standing against him for a second, causing him to move, then he starts firing arrows at the same rate as the first soldier. Double the arrows!

@xRaw381 i found deadric arrows in mzulft a dwemmer ruin after opening a door and getting attacked (pretty deep in the ruin) by one of them big collus things or whatever i killed him and took 9 deadric arrows by looting his body! of course i may have just gotten lucky

@showking5319 if you can't see his arrows you probably don't have pickpocketing perks therefore if you just place your desired arrow the guards will not shoot it because they are still using their equipped arrows which you can't see because you don't have the required perks. Jump to 2:13, from there on it shows you how to do it without perks.

Well apparently this doesn't work on PS3 because you can't pickpocket any of the guards arrows they have equipped. For me it doesn't even show they have arrows in their inventory.
