Here is a question? If Notre Dame switched jerseys in a game, would that be allowed today or a timeout called against them (i.e.. USC/UCLA game)

Rule will be changed for 2009. But under 2008 rules, the violation is the failure of the visiting team to wear white or the home team to wear dark. I don't think a change from blue to green would violate the rules. A change from blue to white or white to blue would.

I understand you guys were pretty upset with us for wearing green in the second half. Notre Dame was pretty bad that year. Was USC struggling as well or was it just a bad day?

Coming off of a grand 1984 year as PAC 10 champs, and beating Ohio State in the Rose Bowl (85), expectations were very high. Notre Dame was better prepared mentally for that game. It doesn't matter if both teams have bad years. It is a game that you look forward to year after year.That day we got beaten by the IRISH because Notre Dame was ready to play. The fumble at kick off changed the momentum for us. The green jerseys gave your fans something more to cheer about!

yes, now that I think about it, you must be Tom or Tony because you were the only real centers on those teams. Very cool to see former SC players commenting on the games they played!

Hi Tom, it's a pleasure to talk to you! No, you don't know me as I was just a huge SC football fan as a teen back then and into the '90, and I remember most of the players very well from back then especially on The Line. I followed the teams in such depth all through the 80's and most of the 90's that I could have written a long book on it, seriously, hehe! Very cool to talk to you!

USC had high expectations going into '85 alright with an impressive '84 session and a lot of talent coming back, but they suffered some key injuries early in the season. Most noticeably O. Guard Tom Hallock and noseguard Tony Colorito who would certainly have been first team all Americans that year, and defensive team Cap/inside LB Sam Anno who was a real leader on the defense.

Actually, I believe Sam Anno was injured the year after, which was a big loss since he would have been an all-Pac 10 player.
