Don't think they're replacing Whitfield with another actor. Apparently he is in the prequel but not much probably because of his illness. And because the story is about the Gladiator school before Spartacus arrived and before Batiatus and his wife take over. Looking forward to seeing Jaime Murray in it as well.

@MewPudding2006 The creators broke it down in an interview. their doing a short prequel and waiting for Andy and then doing season 2 when he's ready to go. the prequel is just so fans don't lose interest like the creators are done with Spartacus. So they came up with an idea and it's a pretty good one. The prequel starts in January and I think they said they'll start filming season 2 this summer

I cannot believe people say bad things while they never even seen it. The story is really great, apart from the violence and sex it actually has a very intelligent story. A lot of politics and complicated emotions. From the way they talk (theatrical almost Shakespearian) to the way music and visuals are arranged. Just perfect!

@ilostmymarbles99 The Crixus/Naevia story will continue, they have recast her, the new Naevia will be Cynthia Addai-Robinson.
They're following a true story, so they can't really change a lot of the story lines.

no1's playing spartacus except for andy. if u actually look it up, youll see that hes in 2 or 3 episodes. the new actor is a completely different gladiator (Gannicus
- played by dustin clare) this is only a 6 episode mini series about the house before spartacus came into play. the official season 2 is delayed until andy returns.

I just finished season 1, and i gotta say, amazing story.... its addicting. Whitfield plays the part so well.and it has officially ruined my day finding out he's not able to go on set for furutre Spartacus. and fuck all of the comments about Gerard, and Crowe taking his spot, he's irreplaceable. If you guys havn't seen this, watch it!!

I want Andy to play in the sequel. They have to give him more time. We don't want anyone looking similar to Andy because he is special. It isn't about his looks. @MewPudding2006 The creators broke it down in an interview. their doing a short prequel and waiting for Andy and then doing season 2 when he's ready to go. the prequel is just so fans don't lose interest like the creators are done with Spartacus. So they came up with an idea and it's a pretty good one. The prequel starts in January and I think they said they'll start filming season 2 this summer

@PrNycTina1091 yes they are giving him as much time as he needs. there not gonna go for a different spartacus. what they said in the interview, is the pequel is merely a way to please fans to buy Andy time. so basically we may have to wait awhile for season 2, but no matter what Andy is Spartacus. that's where their mindset is at right now

@StealthApple dude Gladiator is not worth the vomit of this series. I tell you go see Spartacus Blood and Sand, it will blow your mind that is how good of a story it is. I cannot believe people say bad things while they never even seen it. The story is really great, apart from the violence and sex it actually has a very intelligent story. A lot of politics and complicated emotions. From the way they talk (theatrical almost Shakespearian) to the way music and visuals are arranged. Just perfect!

The problem is what you want just can't happen cause the main character has got cancer and he probably won't return due to his sickness. So they will replace him in the second season. it sucks yes but what do you suggest? Anyway if you don't like this story don't watch, but know this is but a filler! And what a filler ;)

@Asmodelius Luckily, this series may deviate from what many believe to be the truth - Crixus and Doctore may not die the same way, or die at all in this series. It happened in season one, for example... No one knows where Spartacus came from, but this show decided to portray him as a Thracian. Also...

There is no proof that Batiatus died at the hands of Spartacus - he could have lived many years after the slave rebellion for all anyone knows.
