@MrUnderexcellent actually the more I listen to Maron the more he annoys the hell out of me. Wah Wah my problems Wah Wah quitting smoking Wah Wah my lack of career.  The reason he never had a career is because he is not funny and is frankly just annoying. He gets amazing guests on his show though so I fast forward to the interviews. Norm MacDonald was great when Maron wasn't talking for instance.

I had some respect for this guy, but then I watched an episode of The Green Room on Showtime and lost all of it. He literally tried to ruin every serious moment on the show with a stupid joke. Had the mood been right, his joking would have been fine, but he was just interrupting people and was not letting the show flow naturally. It was the worst display of comedic timing I've seen in a while.

@RedGrendel I was into Bill Hicks before most ppl even knew about him and clearly recall reading the GQ article that covered his death (it was the only major mag that covered it at the time). That said, Marc has been around since '93 and was doing materiel that was every bit fresh and developed as Hicks'. I think Hicks is great but since the inception of youtube (where just about every dead celebrity becomes a "genius" and an "icon") his legend has surpassed the reality of his life and act.

I'm a fan of mr. Maron, so take it in the spirit it is intended, but I felt overt waves of Carlin coming from this performance. Marc has always been in the similar vein that Carlin's comedy purveyed, but I guess I never noticed so much before viewing this.

I used to love Mark Maron's stand up comedy in the 90s, but he's turned into a horrible, wretched human being. I see this a lot on old stand up comics. They thought they'd get SNL or a sitcom or be famous in the movies, but when that doesn't happen, they get ground down by 15 years in pathetic comedy clubs. They see other comics making it big and think "WHY WASN'T I IN THE HANGOVER!?"
