you're talking about my student... he's going to Uni this August. it's financial. it's expensive...and you don't get to enter challengers...you start with futures... it's tough
If that returnball comes in high enough, a slice backhand would be my second choice. I'd rather hit it topspin and putting the pressure on the opponent with me standing ready at the net.
Taylor Dent played Federer in the 09 Miami Masters World tour 1000. He lost 6-3, 6-2. But it was much closer than the score says. Almost every game went to deuce. He is making his comeback. Search Taylor Dent on Youtube and you can watch the match.
he's my hardest match of my friends. it's always very, very close. we've played like 10 times and i've lost 3 times... BUT 2 of those were half sets--play to 4... and he's a hot starter and I'm a slow started. BUT he is my most dangerous opponent--very gutty, lefty, and plays a complete game...funky shots but they work. he is the National Champ in the 55's... damn...yep...and i'm like 39... he's super fit and fast
That return is asking for a serve & volley on the next point...

@HyperHorse he doesn't serve and volley :P i've played him a million times

@hi10spro
But that's what I would do... Just saying...
Ok so he doesn't like the net.. You could also go for a short angled piercing slice return and totally move him off the court...

when the racquets were made of wood...
we still use the term when we hit it with the frame.
I guess it's lost in translation, it's kind of a joke.. :)

I'm pretty curious. When you play him, who usually wins?
