@lindyhoppers Thank you for your subscription. Hope you're not too disappointed with this gramophone. Since this upload I've acquired a HMV 194 re-entrant gramophone. In the next 2-3 weeks will issue January selection. You may choose a 1929 Alfredo recording, either "Makin' Whoopee", "Up in the clouds" ,"I'm feathering a nest" or the other side of this record, "The sun is at my window". It will be played on the 194. The choice as they say is yours... (within the next week ,please).
My very first Alfredo was 'Sunshine of Marseilles' closely followed by 'Putting on the Ritz'. My old neighbour (born 1906) was amazed to hear them it was a band he had forgotten all about!.
Great to hear some british dance bands for a change.Alfie Noakes is indeed on fine form. His son John Noakes was for many years the Blue Peter presenter
I got two Alfredos last week and was saying to another you tuber what a rythmic and syncopated performance this band always gives-such a shame he gave up his dance band for the romany style.
I return here often to enjoy the band, Noakes and Allen.
It would be really something to listen to this record with an Orthophonic Credenza or an EMG gramophone!

Alfredo's Band has always been my personal favourite. They had such "attack" in their rhythm. If only they had made more records.
