fucken unreal,,,,new zealand is king of the rotary engines,,,, never seen this before well done !!!!!! AND OUR 12A BRIDGEPORTS WITH A 4BARREL CARB PRODUCE 250 HP EASY,,,,, OR 12A PP MAKE UP 2 400HP .. 13B TURBO UP 2 600HP 2 100HP !!! SO WELL DONE SMITH POWER WELL DONE!!!
Ignore my last comment. Actually I just read some info that this engine makes 1440hp at 9k rpms and 2400 hp with 10lbs of boost all on 87 octane. Hell even the stock 3rd gen Rx7 will run on 87 octane at it's stock 10psi boost level ( I know this from personal experience). It will also make 3600hp with 116 octane race fuel at 25psi. WOW!! Dimensions 30" long, 31" wide, 24" tall and 830lbs. Besides weight, I thinkg that's smaller diemsions than an 8.0L Viper engine. Damn!
@seitartherogue - I don't think you understood my question. The lady says 2400 HP on 87 octane. That's 200 HP per rotor, which would require 12+ PSI of boost. Wankels on that kind of boost with anything short of 93 octane are usually only moments from detonation and spitting an apex seal out the exhaust.
If they actually sustain a reliable 2400 HP on 87 octane, that's something big to write home about.
If it can only run 87 at the 1440 HP level (120 HP/rotor), not so much.
@wankelbolt Your thinking about this too hard. Boosted rotarys can be tuned with lower octane levels if the timming isn't too advanced. 12psi boost at 3k won't have the same knock levels as 12psi at 6k. Also detonation is usually in the upper rpm ranges. This engine here (because of it's really large displacement) I think is designed to make all it's power lower in the rpm range. If that's the case, then it will be safe with 87.
Is this the same engine with that new paintgun injection sysytem ? LMAO

Very cool! Love to hear it run!
But I'm curious how they get 200 HP/rotor on 87 octane? Every 200+ HP/rotor engine I know of is getting that power only on 93 or better.

@wankelbolt its getting 2400HP with a turbo and 1440HP N/A
