Im wondering if ur songs and apps are deleted on itunes but still have all of them on the iphone can you still just update ur iphone to Ios5 without having the songs transfer to itunes or will it delete everything on my iphone if I click update to ios5 when there is nothing on the itunes library but everything on the iphone?
Sorry, when I try this my option for wirless syncing on my iPod is greyed out unless it's plugged into the computer. And yes I ticked that box on iTunes and it is still ticked and I applied and all that. But the option in the iPod touch is just greyed out.
I run a Windows 7 computer and a iPod Touch 4g :)
i got iOS 5 yesterday and for some reason, when i go to the itunes wifi sync under general settings on my itouch (4th generation), the "sync now" can't be selected Like it's faded out so when i press it, nothing happens. it says "automatically sync with itunes on your computer when your ipod touch is plugged in to power and connected to wifi. sync will resume when "(my name)'s macbook pro is available." both my mac and ipod are connected to the same network. help please???
Hey can you help me I recently upgraded to ios 5 and I checked the box but every time I go to unplug it it goes off on iTunes and won't let me start the sync on either my computer nor my iPhone
I have iTunes 10.5 on my MacBook & iOS5 on my iPad2, but I don't get the "sync over wifi connection" checkbox item, any idea why ? I want to wi-fi sync but I can't because I don't have the checkbox at all!
what if you say rip a CD to your iTunes library, being a library which will have some songs purchased on iTunes and some from somewhere else. So far everywhere I've looked, I've only seen stuff downloaded from iTunes pushed to other devices. Basically my question is when I sync to my computer's iTunes library, will it push songs from that library that have been purchased from places OTHER THAN iTunes as well as iTunes? (sorry if that made no sense, cheers in advance)
@jcwuerfl I didn't mention it, but it looks like it works like iCloud. When the device is plugged into power, it will automatically do a sync, provided your computer is running with iTunes at the time.
It might be nice to do it once a day even on battery because usually I plug my device in at night and my computer is shut down. We'll have to see...
@wwwinsanelygreatmac@lorikzzz I think the greater implication is synching music playlists and podcasts and videos and other stuff you may have moved or changed or added, but aren't things you wouldn't have bought of the store (thus not having been pushed to your ios devices)
I dont really understand why they added wireless syncing. All of your apps and backups would already transfer to the cloud and back down to your computers in 5.0B1.
@TheN3rdKidd You're talking two different features. iCloud backs up, this is sync. I think you would only use iCloud when you do a restore from that backup. So, iCloud isn't eliminating the sync process.
@wwwinsanelygreatmac But when you buy songs on you iphone, it automatically transfers it to your ipad and mac so why would you need syncing although it's a pretty awsome feature.
Will I be able to selective sync wireless? Now, when I sync, I have apps and music on my home computer that I don't load on my ipad or iphone. Can I still do that with a wireless sync?
uhm...i got this update automatically officialy on my ipad.for real!one day it just asked me to go to settings to say if i wanted to sync with ituns and ibooks was it i think?and i enabled it,without my ipad being pluged in!just from the wifi it downloaded the update even!idk!and i downloaded an app from itunes without it being pluged in and boom!on my ipad!AWESOME!
How well does it update smart playlists of podcasts? That's the main reason I have to sync my iPhone with iTunes about once a week so that I can get my podcasts updated with new, unplanned episodes.
@teacher2470 Yup, it basically the only reason you'll have to plug your iOS device in is to charge it. Movies, TV, music, podcasts, photos, apps address, calendars, etc. You can push or initiate an iTunes sync over your WiFi network.
fuck you

When do u think ios5.0 will be available?
GONAVY26 8 months ago
When you download that app on your mac, iCloud automatically downloads it to your iPad, so why would you need this ?
lorikzzz 8 months ago
@lorikzzz because you sync more than apps and if you don't sync, all your app data isn't saved.
