  • I thought I was going to disagree with you but you are absolutely right. reason being boxing has been a legally regulated sport since 1901. MMA was not legally regulated until the 90's even though both forms of combat have been around since the beginning of man. Boxing has had more than 100 years to build a solid foundation as a legal combat sport versus MMA having just under 30. boxing didn't explode until the 60's anyway. give it time and both sports will achive the same stature

  • General reply to everyone making comments. The fundamental flaw with the argument is that total gross or reliance on a single fight to determine which sport is more honorable or respected globally isn't sufficient. Mayweather vs PacMan may or may not be a bigger fight than Silva vs GSP (which would probably be the current superfight MMA could put together) but the fact is that boxing has nothing left after that - continued.

  • @TheLordBroseidon it won't have anything else because all the young material for boxing are starting in MMA. They get paid less but they get more in return. It's a much bigger achievement to know you threw everything you had against everything someone else had in every dimension of a fight and you won. Besides, these superfights are bad for the sport anyways. - Continued

  • It doesn't breath new life into anything, it just ends the possibility of big fighters staying big, and you want as many of them as big as they can be for as long as possible. That's how you get new people hooked, not by eliminating top fighters essentially. Boxing and MMA are different, but the truth of it is that the best boxer in MMA could stand with the best in boxing. - Continued

  • Probably wouldn't win, but he probably wouldn't get knocked out and could stand with them. The best boxer couldn't stand with the best MMA fighter. He WILL lose due to incapability to react to such multifaceted fighting. And a reply to whoever keeps saying that MMA is a jack of all trades but master of none, the only major combat sport in the world than an MMA champion hasn't been champion of aside from MMA is boxing. - Continued

  • Many UFC, Strikeforce and Pride Champs have been K-1 Kickboxing, Sanshou, Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling champions, along with many more than that. The reason no Boxing champ has moved to MMA is because they get comfortable and wealthy and don't want to risk it. It's not necessarily jack of all trades, there are some people at the top of their game in certain dimensions of MMA. Look at Royce Gracie for an example. - Continued

  • I'm a fan of boxing, by all means, and I watch a lot of fights and being a kickboxer myself I'm very interested in it, and I don't know if boxing will ever "die", but MMA is certainly going to eclipse it within years. /rant

  • mannnnnnn im a comp ufc guy and watch box umm not so much, but u put pac and may in the ring and id watch that fight more than any other ufc fight, id lose a weeks pay for that shit, i agree with u 100 perc,

  • mma is getting higher than boxing at the moment. however all boxing needs is one big fight maybe mayweather vs pacuaio good revive or we need on boxing personality like ali and watch all the mma fans run to boxing

  • Boxing fans love mma and mma fans love boxing, how bout dat....

  • boxing ain't dead yet but would be after manny fights floyd and if they fight , on the other hand ufc puts on a good show every month

  • im not against any art becuz no style is better then the other like bruce lee said,it only depends on the fighter.MMA vs boxing?it can go either way, even tho MMA has alot of tools then boxing the boxer can still prevail

  • Now look at mma 2 years after your little video, the UFC just signed a major 7 year deal with fox, puts on at least 15 ppv a year and sell out almost immediately and are starting to go global, boxing on the other hand can't even book the only goddamn fight fans have wanted to see for about 4 years now, I guarantee you within the next decade mma will be an olympic sport, it's inevitable, mma is the most fan friendly combat sport their is, you can't stop what can't be stopped.

  • best thing since toilet paper!

  • boxing is number one skill and competition

  • Boxing is dead....got broken bones? Want some?

  • True to what your saying. MMA still doesnt deserve to be called the better, most popular sport. It hasnt received seniority yet that boxing has received and thats why it cant be called a better sport. Many people been watching boxing WAY before MMA came out. I myself though prefer watching MMA over a boxing match because i grew up watching it more than boxing.

  • Boxing is "Dead and gone" like TIs song. Like Myspace, history...

  • i dont know why , but you kinda remind me of nazim richardson (boxing-trainer) ...

  • if you wanna be ugly lol boxer's get paid WAY more than mma fighters and thats a FACT!!!!!!! Boxing = Class

  • I believe in being well rounded as well. Similar to Bruce Lees philosophy of using whatever works and discarding the rest. That was the idea of Jeet Kune Do, to not be limited by any certain "style" or techniques in a real life fight. Lee said "I do not believe in style"

  • Mma ppl are screaming for floyd to go in the ufc. Why dont mma guys try to box first. If you step into the ring with floyd you will be paid more than any mma fighter in history. If ANY mma fag steps in the ring with floyd they will get ktfo and floyd is not even a power puncher. I dont even like floyd.....

  • @MEXICRAZYN the only reason y is because any real fan of mma can tell u boxing is a part of mma but most of athletes and critics that take the side of boxing act super arrogant and say how mma is just cock fighting when their just afraid of something new MMA fans want floyd to step in the cage so then we can silence the most arrogant critic of MMA and just respect the sport, plain and simple, and for the record other fighting styles have been around just as long they just werent in the bible

  • @allybe boxing was in the bible?

  • 19 people are obviously retarted..! Boxing is NOT dead..

  • "thee art of fisticuffs" haha fucking lame... boxing = sport of great punchers not great fighters its like world class sprinters and NFL wide receivers, yeah usain bolt is way faster than than any reciver in the league but god knows he couldn't do shit in the nfl and if Muhammad ali ran into anderson silva outside a night club and they fought you bet your dumbass ali is getting knocked the fuck out!!

  • @TEGF3 only because Silva can use his legs etc. But he will NEVER have the same skills with his hands as Ali had.

MMA = jack of all trades, master of NONE

  • MMA fighter: jacks of all trades, masters of none. Ground game my ass, fight like a man with your fists or take me down on the ground and I'll shove my thumb in your eye so deep I'll touch your brain.

  • @OZIASALLAH Boxer's are not well rounded fighters, they are boxers. MMA guys could survive a boxing match with Mayweather but he would not survive a MMA bout. IMO having so many ways to win is what makes MMA a more interesting/harder sport. The fact that everyone can be countered stylistically makes athletes constantly evolve their skills or get left behind. Making the financial comparison doesn't mean anything except current preference in 2 athletes, lets not forget MMA is still illegal in NY.

  • MMA is better than boxing simply because MMA fighters are the toughest dudes on the planet. Boxers allways try to make the argument that the boxer would win in a boxing match. but boxing is so one dimensional, if they got in a real fight and some guy tried to tackle them or throw a leg kick the boxer would just be like "oh shit".

  • @reskinator16 lol. MMA fighters are the toughest dudes on the planet? Put an mma fighter against a real martial artist. A 70 year old Shaolin master would whoop your best MMA fighter

  • @CoffeeBeatsTea Wow dude are you serious you will never see that fight because it could never get sanctioned because everyone on the planet but you knows that the UFC fighter would literally KILL ur little karate master,

  • @reskinator16 hahaha. Shows how ignorant and stupid some MMA fans are. Shaolin masters do not practice karate you fucking spanner.

  • Ur wrong on the crowd not knowing what a arm bar

  • Boxing is like a one time of yr thing and mma is more on the reg

  • this video is very interesting ... this guy knows his sport. boxing is too too rich .. its so rich that intelligent people in boxing try to hurt boxing to make even more money out of boxing. (promoters) . mma hasnt ruined boxing .. controversies have ruined boxing and mma is trying to take full advantage out of this but the point is .. that whenever there is a problem with the sport of boxing mma jump at it and create headlines. and that is not cool .. i mean pac v floyd .. imagine the revenue !

  • i like both mma and boxing. i think mma is bigger now because of how they market it. mma ppv cards are better than boxing i think that is another reason.

  • Nah i think ur wrong there if Mayweather & Pac man have there fight then what else does Boxing has to offer NOTHING!!!! Boxing is dead MMA is the Future.

  • Tick-Tock-Tick-Tock.......You hear that? That time passing by. Pretty soon, MMA will be bigger and more respected then Boxing. Just like Hip-Hop music. Not too many people listened to Hip-Hop in the 80's. Now look at Hip-Hop. The younger generation took over. That's what will happen with MMA. Prove me wrong!!!

  • I agree with most of what you had to say. Boxing and MMA are two different sports. And I am truly a fan of both sports. But how often do we get to see Mayweather or PacMan fight?? In MMA, there are good fights every month. I buy boxing fights and MMA fights on PPV all the time when there are good fights. But I noticed on my cable bill that there are a lot less boxing purchases. Only because there are less fights in boxing.

  • @Valentina695 need more fans like u , instead of nuthuggers desperately trying to boudmouth the other sport. Boxing has damaged itself internally with all this over the top business plans. Boxing needs to get back on track.

  • @AlexiusMoore Imagine the PPV sales if Mayweather and PacMan were ever have that fight? I think boxing will make a huge comeback. Reason why. I personal think that PacMan and Mayweather are deliberately holding out on this fight to make people more excited about it. Cuz I know when it goes down it will be an all time classic. PPV sales will be of the fuckin wall! But I wont buy it, cuz I will go to it! Another big fight I want to see, Anderson Silva vs George St-Pierre. I'm a true fight fan.

  • @Valentina695 Thats right me and u bro, we real fight fans.

  • @AlexiusMoore I'm actually a girl...

  • @Valentina695 Yo thats even better, A girl who likes boxing and mma. Thats pretty amazin girl. I guess i should change my statement to...

Thats right! u and me, sista, we real fight fans

  • the pay scale is better in mma all around sure prizefighters will make 24 mil a fight or so, most boxers make shit. in mma at least they got more trickle down the money

  • but as for which is more useful on the streets... boxing. for the following reasons:

    1) a street fight is rarely 1 on 1. if you use a takedown you will just get stomped by another guy.

    2) mma also revolves around alot of submissions, once again leaving your head open to attack from a 3rd person.

    3) most fights happen in crowded bars. mma fighters can forget about their head kicks.

the only thing an mma fighter has to use in the real world is punches (ie. boxing)

  • mma fans tend to slag off boxing by saying that boxers get their arses kicked in mma... that's like saying basketball sucks because jordan was shit at baseball. these are completely different sports requiring completely different skills.

and the key is that both boxing and mma are SPORTS... they are not street fighters.

i personally don't like seeing fights go to the mat and guys just roll around for 5mins... so i agree that a good boxing fight is better than a good mma fight.

  • we compare boxing and mma cause they are both combat sports, fighting sports, fool, this is not baseball or basketball, why is it that people only expect someone to only use his hands in a fight? why can't he use his entire body as a weapon? that's not cheating, that's skills, at least pacquiao knows mua thai

  • @MobiusX Pay close attention, Boxing is thee art of fisticuffs in a ring, with rules, gloves, etc. MMA is the art of that plus some more and plus some more,, Fact, boxing existed and was popular before it could even be seen on TV people listened to the radio to hear boxing, NO internet, know cable TV, No Pay Per View, Boxing is and will always be recognized and respected. oh yeah fool its spelled Muay Thai, and since its so great why doesnt Pac MAN do it for a living NO MONEY IN IT

  • @OZIASALLAH to be honest, the reason pac does boxing is cuz that was his "first love" and he doesnt do muaythai..whoever said that is an idiot lol. he does kickboxing which is completely different. then again u do have a point about how boxing has more moeny, but thats ONLY if ur GOOD :D its sad the only very few of the top fighters make a lot :( i love both

  • @OZIASALLAH and by the way, kickboxing came out in 61

  • @MobiusX taekwondo is a combat sport, judo, aikido, muay thai, etc. boxing is not compared with mma just because they are both combat sports, they are compared because they are both fighting sports and makes a lot of money, boxing makes more because mma is young in 30 years time boxing will be completely swallowed and mma fighters will make millions

  • james toney already lost to couture, he didn't even last 1 round, not even roy jones made toney quit so fast, toney tapped out, floyd mayweather is just a 1 dimensional fighter, he can bob and weave but that will just put him in danger, his whole boxing stance will have to change, he is known the best for his defense but how can he defense in brazilian jiu jitsu? mma guy would break his arm or choke him out, boxing is more popular, its been here longer

  • the thing that keeps me away from mma is dana FUCKING white. i can't stand that asshole. and i can't stand joe rogan either

other than that i have mad respect for the gracies, silva, fedor, pierre etc.

  • But that being said I don't know about the whole Best vs Best scenario. If you had Pacman vs Mayweather It wouldn't get as much buys as Fedor vs Brock. Every boxing fan would buy it and a lot of mma fans would aswell if the 2 best boxers were put up against eachother. But MMA takes much more training in boxing, kickboxing, muaytia BJJ wrestling just to be succesful.. I mean look at james toney trying to come in to MMA

  • @wade2thehamilton YOU done lost your mind

  • @OZIASALLAH you have a solid point boxing would outsell ufc or any mma organization any day thats why they pay more cause they make more money

  • @wade2thehamilton Look at anderson silva trying to be a boxer.

  • @wade2thehamilton I'm pretty certain that Paq v Mayweather will get A LOT more attention then Brock v Fedor. As for Tony v Old Dude, Same would have happen if the Old dude would step into a boxing ring with Tony. If you look at it that way you can't come to a conclusion. The best MMA fighter would get his ass beat by the best Boxer in a boxing ring. The best Boxer would get his ass kicked by an MMA fighter in an MMA fight. End o' Story. MMA most likely, will never take over boxing.

  • @wade2thehamilton Especially with all the exiting stuff that has/ is about to go down this year.

  • @wade2thehamilton LOL, you're joking right?

  • @wade2thehamilton I remember a fight between Tim Sylvia who was ranked top 10 in heavyweights at the time vs a washed up boxer Ray Mercer and Tim Sylvia was 1 punch knocked out within 10 seconds of the fight starting with MMA rules. James Toney was/is a good boxer( I prefered him at lighter weight) but defientely not MMA material he is overweight no question and if he fell on his back he would be like a turtle.

  • @wade2thehamilton But to say Lesnar and Fedor would be bigger then Manny and Mayweather is just ludacrious and should be a criminal offence to even say such nonesense.

  • @wade2thehamilton

What planet are you from !!!

  • Brock Lesnar vs Fedor would be the biggest fight in History. Not Anderson Silva VS GSP like some others think. You make a good argument. You have your own opinion but your also factual. I'm a huge MMA fan I live in Canada and its huuuge here. But I do love pac man, and Tysons old amateur fights were wow.. exciting.

  • I don't disagree with your opinion at but theirs a small chance you may be wrong

You said fighters from any era so in boxing you would most likely take i don't

Ali vs Tyson probably . So in Mma what if you could see Bruce lee fight Today . Do you still think more people would want to see Ali and Tyson fight more than to see Bruce Lee fight but i dont know who he would fight maybe 2 of the best Mma guys today at the same time.

  • Neither Boxing nor MMA is true fighting for survival. However, UFC is closer to it though. Because the UFC fighter is more rounded, he would most likely win in a fight to the death. But in a fight with just hands, the Boxer would have the edge.

  • @reptile202 Your very stupid of course its not there not in the army their part of a sport ,,

  • im an amateur mixed martial artist, planning on going pro. and i agree with everything you said, however they obviously never will get the two best boxers to fight, therefore that point will not have an effect on boxing vs mma. you know what i mean?

  • Brock Lesnar is shit. I would way rather see Anderson Silva VS GSP then Manny VS Mayweather.

  • I respected this a lot. Very open minded...but comparing MMA vs Boxing with Football vs Basketball is NOT fair. Its not apples and oranges....its apples and applesauce.

Boxing is a TOOL of MMA. Its a piece of hit. Boxing is a training regiment of the MMA. Boxing vs MMA is the same as Touch football vs FOOTBALL. You take out the tackles of foot ball..you have Touch football. You take out the Tackles of MMA and you basically have Boxing.I don't know about you..but I like Real football..not Touch

  • Bullshit, I'm afraid, you sound like an ass!

  • @sergio2279 yes ive heard of them the problem is no one else will. boxing is a great athletic sport but its a mid level sport its one part of fighting. and boxing is not fighting its too people who are limited to throwing punches at each other. so when someone says they made the fight of the year it wasnt a fight it was two athletes who punched each other a few times. its not exciting anymore after tyson and de la hoya's era its gradually decreased and its only getting worse for you boxing fans

  • @AlexGriffin8808 Boxing hasn't decreased as a sport, the talent in fighters has. Which will change soon. Only someone who isn't a boxing fan would say that it's onlt punching. Boxing is about balance, agility, conditioning, precision, and all around physical and mental strength. MMA fighters can't even take as good a punch as a boxer. The fight starts on feet face to face. And boxers strike better with there hands then MMA fighters do with hands and feet.

  • Whats really funny is that half of the shit heads ragging on boxing are referring to mma as "UFC" that should say everything about the intelligence of the fan base atm.

  • @mickel1470

    Word. MMA != cage fighting.

Krav Maga is a mixed martial art for example. It is NOT a sport martial art.

It is a striking and grappling art. Hence putting the MIXED in MMA.

  • lol

  • @Persell77 yeah men your crazy

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA your funny man

MMA already shit in "Boxings" mouth by taking one of mma's oldest yes OLDEST FIGHTERS and kicked toney's ass

and you have never seen a sport like this come from the shadows and become the biggest newest thing in the world like mma

    and thats the truth

  • @777Talon OK now if you are a true combat sports fan you know that any decent wrestler would have whipped toney tyson or any other fighter, now lets focus on the fact that boxing has a history all the way back to the 1700's and even before that as far as 675 BC face it the shit is hear to stay LOL the burden of proof falls on MMA Boxing has made its mark

  • @OZIASALLAH this guy dont know what they talking about mma would never be better than boxing, boxing is the real deal, let see how long mma last , boxing is boring ?? i dont think so , mma fighter does not make as much money as it does a boxer , so what are you guys talking that boxing is dead or is dying numbers dont lie

  • @OZIASALLAH actually bud mma may not have been around for as long but the martial arts that make up mma have been around for so damn long, the 1st olympics in ancient greece a long time ago had wrestling and boxing , not sure about sambo muay thai bjj and everything else but i know boxing martial arts have both been around for a long time if not the same amount of time btw i like both sports i just like mma better since their are more styles finishes and we actually get to see wanted fights

  • @OZIASALLAH ur wrong when u say "the burden of proof falls on MMA Boxing has made its mark" because its quite the other way around... MMA has made its mark and it has made it quite bigger den boxing, and wen u say boxing has more history and evrything... that makes it worse because MMA has only been around 16 years and it already blew boxing off the map. Dont say its not true, look at the payperview sells, also making ur best vs best theory wrong, quite frankly, no one cares about boxing anymore

  • @XXjofroXX i lol bullocks .. lol hahaha its the funniest thing ive ever hared. Everyone calls me a kid cus im 24 on thursday .. but im still 7 years older then mma .. LMAO!!!

  • @XXjofroXX that is a load of bullshit. stop comparing the two. a lot and i mean A LOT of people still watch boxing. majority of mma fights end up on the floor for like all the rounds. where is the action in that? they didn't blow shit off the map. and you guys say boxing sucks because you guy's probably don't know how to do it. anybody can punch but not everybody can box. i can't understand why you think you're winning some kind of battle, no one but yourselves are interested in.

  • @brandeezy108 ourselve's?? by ourselves... do you mean the millions and millions of fans world wide that make mma THE fastest growing sport in the world?? the ones that make the statistics show dat by the end of 2011 the ufc will be bigger then the NBL AND NBA??? im pretty sure us mixed martial artist's are backed up by millions of fans. im pretty sure mma fighters arent the only one's intrested in MMA, boxing is being swallowed by a sport that provide's wayy more entertainment and better fights

  • @XXjofroXX this FAST growing stage is how everything starts out. of course it's going to be growing this fast because the ufc just started like what in the 80's. i'm not speaking mma in general. i'm speaking ufc. this is all a matter of personal preference. you see boxing as a martial art limited to hands only. i get it. but to us millions of boxing fans, we see it as our favorite part of combat minus everything else. we're not trying to look like great street fighter's, mma fans are.

  • @brandeezy108 nobody is trying to look like a street fighter and if anybody it would be the boxer's because most of them are a bunch of ghetto idiots MMA fighters tend to have more class. plus BOXERS ARE THE ONES WHO STARTED THE WHOLE RIVALRY, you dont see many MMA promoter insulting boxing as a sport. while all your boxing promoters talk about how "mma is gay porn!" "mma is human cockfighting" even when so many more people die in boxing so much more often! u guys say it becuz ur scared...

  • @XXjofroXX i'm not saying the MMA fighters are involved. i'm saying SOME of the fans are fucking douche bags. and we are not ghetto idiots. i don't even know where that came from to be honest. boxers do have class. but the guy that said MMA is "porn" or "cockfighting" is not a damn boxer! it was some announcer that happens to support boxing. he just did it in the wrong way. i don't see many boxers talk shit about mma unless it is in retaliation. like me. i'm only retaliating. i don't hate MMA.

  • @brandeezy108 i dun hate the sport of boxing either, i see it just like you except from the MMA perspective of how boxing fans are douchebags to us, and i dun think the fighter start shit its mostly the boxing premoters who, witch cause the MMA company;s to retaliate

  • @brandeezy108 well i dont hate boxing either, and i see it just like you when i say some of the boxing fans are fucking douchebags. over all the whole situation were in is going nowhere so im just gonna end this arguement rightnow

  • @XXjofroXX sorry i took too long to reply. anyway, you did the right thing by ending it there.

  • @OZIASALLAH yes i respect boxing but i think mma is more effective in a street fight boxing is exciting but its just one aspect of fighting and i prefer to see another way to end a fight

  • @777Talon lol u cud put any ufc fighter in a ring with bhop and they'd get annihalted so ur point is not valid..o wait no ufc fighter wud dare get in a boxing ring with a hall of famer boxer whereas toney at least had the balls to

  • @777Talon u took a fighter that is pretty famous but u took ur most famous fighter why do u think boxers dont wanna fight you because u are not worth it !!!! take mike tyson in prime take jones jr in prime blabla watch what happens those pussies will die

  • @777Talon MMA is only bigger than boxing in MMA fans heads. Boxing is still a much bigger sport and is making a big turn around as far as talent goes. James Toney is a horrible representation of boxing itself let alone Boxing VS MMA. But boxing is a bigger sport, business, and form of entertainment. MMA fans are delusional.

  • @777Talon there is no need for your 12 year old immature points. there is a basic debate going on here, stop swearing and being dumb. if you were a true mixed martial arts fan then you would understand respect. and its sad that you dont.

  • @777Talon Any MMA fighter would get shit on in the first round in boxing. Just like most top boxers would get shit on in a mma fight.

You wouldn't put a basketball player in a soccer game and expect him to be the MVP?

Idiot you're ignorant, go kill yourself.

  • @MrMSI91 Vitor Belfor would most like take some boxers that man has been boxing since a little Kid and talking about in a boxing match not mma he has challenge a few a boxer to boxing matches

  • @777Talon And Toney would have beat the guy in a boxing match. You gotta remember Toney was washed up as a boxer and went into MMA for the money. Money he couldn't earn in the ring as he couldn't hack it anymore. A half decent amatuer boxer could have beat Toney at the time. I notice no one brings up Mercers one punch KO. Two different sports.

  • @777Talon toney was old as fuck! and he doesn't represent boxing! bring you're BEST fighter into the ring with a prime boxer like manny pacquiao, and force the mixed martial artist to strictly box and see what happens. he'll probably get knocked the fuck out in 3 rounds ore less!

  • @brandeezy108 boxing is like sparing for mma. Just one platform of fighting. Boxing is an attack of a punch, a fighter uses everything they have to take someone out (MMA)

  • i like both sports but mma is number 1 put a mma fither in a boxing ring u took 90% of the mma fither skill u put a boxer in the mma u dont take nothing away except his balls. ray mercer is a ex pro boxer going to mma he lost like 5 times and won just once inb a fight against tim sylva. evryone in mma has difrent skils in one period. if a boxer lerns how to stop take downs he no longer a boxer he an mma fither cause he learned a new skill besides boxing to get the job done.

  • In regards to comparing the two fights and which one would sell more.

Boxing by far has more fans; however, MMA has more young fans. When the boxing fans grow older and eventually all die out MMA will be more popular. When The MMA fans start having little MMA fans the sport of boxing as a secular sport will be a faint memory.

  • Boxing is so shit compared to MMA. MMA is for real fighters not just punching LOL

  • I agree. I lean towards mma but i'm a 20 year old guy, this shit started getting popular to my friends and I when we were about 15 when it got on spike. So i basically grew up with it. Its the biggest fighting sport in my generation. But I have seen Ali and Foreman. I have a great deal of respect for boxing! I think ali/foreman will be bigger than any mma fight, and i didnt even see it live. like ufc 100 mir vs lesnar, great card, great fights. wasnt as ah-inspiring as ali/foreman to me.

  • mma is the ultimae test of man in a sense of fighting. boxing is a sport of punching which is not fighting, if too guys have a problem who says ok i knocked u down u get ten seconds to stand up. if two guys have a problem and he knocks the other guy down he is going to jump on him knock him out choke him out or break his limbs. boxing is boring and its purely dying i dont see it lasting for more than 5 years

  • @AlexGriffin8808 5 years they were saying that 50 years ago, bottom line boxing is an established sport, wether you like it or not just like foot ball basketball etc, I have said it before boxing has decades of history and has also played an enormous role in American culture MMA is the newbie who can only try to follow boxings prototype, its easy to do good in the GOOD TIMES but can MMA survive hard times we already know that boxin has and will continue to the burden of proof is on MMA

  • @OZIASALLAH im not dissing boxing it was all we had years ago to aspire too, but i think just like everything things are changing pacquiao mayweather de la hoya and all the head liners are the last of a dying breed there wont be any future stars unless someone goes on knocking everyone out in the first round. goodtimes/hardtimes its a recession and the ufc is setting records in ppv sells boxing is decling its purely facts man

  • @OZIASALLAH hard times it did survive before..... dana white and the furtitas saved mma and made it what it is today plus this is a economic recession and people dont have money to schill out to order ppv fights but fr some reason they are still selling millions plus ppv buys. look boxing is cool and all i can appreciate the level of talent but as long as theyre are srikeforce dream and ufc's i dont see boxing going anywhere but where it is or lower

  • @AlexGriffin8808 of course mma fighters have four oz gloves what do you expect, its damn near bare knuckle stuff. the chin boxers would come to mmma and get get knocked out by a mirko cro cop or pat barry

  • I think boxing fans are speaking like Mayweather about the sport and money involved versus MAA fans speaking about boxers like Mayweather getting their ass whooped in a ring, cage or even outside. I would like to see Floyd Mayweather who cliams to be the best in a Kumite match representing the boxing style fight against other martial art styles with limited restrictions kinda like the first UFC.

  • actually if they put Mayweather with the closest weight champion in MMA hed be going against Jose Aldo LMAO! He wont even take mayweather to the ground guys, promise. Just one kick and there goes Mayweathers gameplan. Yeah i know u cant base this fight off of one kick, except, this is Jose Aldo's one kick. Jose Aldo TKO by way of low kick lol

  • you are absolutely on point....for now, I think in 10 years though, MMA will over take boxing

  • Great video i completely agree with you, i also think it's because boxing has been around so much longer too that people will recognize over mma any day. and i love mma more then boxing but i believe they are both great sports. thanks for the video

  • I think over time mma will overcome boxing. i mean years ago mma was just a blip on the map. but now they're even comparing mma to boxing. i mean that's a pretty big jump for such a new sport(compared to boxing). you say that mma and boxing are two different things and that is definitely true. but if u take the basic aspects of it, it's pretty similar. MMA does encorporate boxing into their resume, but also much more. In a way i guess you get more bang for the buck haha. give mma a few years (:

  • very well spoken.

  • Dumbass they tried that with mayweather and oscar and they lost the ratings were not even close bottom line boxing is to simple to survive who wants to see boxers argue about who is the best and they all boil down to speed in boxing you aint fixing to out run a car boxing fans just want get it until you get a dream match of a B.J. penn 155 vs Floyd Fairweather pp say but that aint fair B.J. will destroy him but why not put the best mma fighter at his weight against Floyd he is the best boxer

  • @serve1234 im confused about your comment doesnt make sense to me and please show me where mma has went head to head with Mayweather DLH or Pacman and won it has never happened 2nd, only a person who has poor listening skills would suggest BJ Penn vs Mayweather its 2 diffrent sports,, BUT put bj in a boxing ring no wrestling no BJJ no kicking and he will get Knocked out by a lot of boxers who are not even top ten fighters,, no boxer belongs in a cage period,,

  • @serve1234 AND that alson is true for Lesnar Carwin and a whole bunch of other top MMA guys, neither fighter would do very well in the other sport,, just like Michael Jordan did in Baseball,, garbage,,

  • @OZIASALLAH mixing up sports will always be controversial. i mean if u put the best boxer against the best mma fighter at that weight in an mma fight they'd lose 9 out of 10. but then again a boxer wouldnt go into a mma fight only with the knowledge of boxing. he'd learn mma thus becoming an mma fighter with a boxing background. i mean these two sports are very similar that each fighter can really transition into each respective sport pretty easily. but this is my opinion =T

  • @OZIASALLAH Real mma fans dont consider lesnar a good fighter hes a good wrestler but thats about it.

  • @serve1234 Jesus... Are you completely retarded?

Would you put BJ pen up against Mayweather, Pacman or Cotto in a boxing match?

NO, they would get killed in the first minute or two.

So why the FUCK would you put boxers in a MMA ring, it's two completely different sports.

Idiot fanboys needs to get the fuck outta here with this bs,...

  • @serve1234

How can you say boxing is too simple to survive when it has already been around for hundreds of years?

    Fucking retard.

  • @2pacinseattle Horse racing was highly popular for a long time too. Then cars came along.

  • @hyped78

It is funny that you claim boxing is dead yet Mayweather vs Pacquiao is more coveted by millions of people around the world than any MMA fight. The biggest boxing match will ALWAYS be more popular than the biggest MMA fight. What potential match in MMA has more drawing power than Pacquiao vs Mayweather?

  • @2pacinseattle Where on earth did I clain boxing is dead? You took liberty with your interpretation huh?

But if you want to play that game, simply check out the numbers on PPV buys.

    UFC 100 had 1.6m buys, in 2009. In 2010 UFC 116 had 1.2m buys. UFC 114 had 1m buys. 124 had 900k.

    Now see HBO's boxing's numbers in 2010:

Pacquiao vs Clottey had 700k. Mayweather vs Mosley had 1.4m. Pacquiao vs Margarito had 1.2m.

These are just the main cards.

  • @hyped78

you said horse racing was popular until cars came along which means boxing was popular until MMA came along. That is what you meant. Mayweather and Pacquiao alone are more popular than the sport of MMA.

  • @2pacinseattle You said boxing will survive because it has been around for hundreds of years. I merely showed, with the horse racing example, that your logic is, at best, flawed.

And if your best way to defend that boxing will survive is to say that it has been around for a long time, then you've got ways to go.

Mayweather and Pacquiao are more popular than MMA, yet the last 6 PPVs with them in the main event all had less buys than, for example, UFC 100.

  • @2pacinseattle And, by the way, I live in Europe. I don't know a single person in the 20s to mid 30s who watches boxing.

Here in Portugal the UFC is on Sporttv1, the main sports channel. Boxing is on Sporttv2.

  • @hyped78

Manny Pacquiao is more famous worldwide than any UFC fighter.

  • @2pacinseattle Sure sure. That's your opinion, obviously. Not necessarily a fact.

  • @2pacinseattle Never heard of him.. lol

  • @2pacinseattle pffft. thats why gsp sold out a whole stadium in Phillipines with people JUST to see him train....lmfao

  • @hyped78 But then again. I have never heard of one good boxer who has come out of portugal.

  • @boomtown85 There isn't. But so there isn't any good MMA fighter. Even ground on that.

  • @2pacinseattle If you add the total PPV buys in 2010 for both sports, you'll realize that boxing has already been surpassed in the numbers.

I really don't care about that, but you're the one who said that I was saying boxing is dead, when in fact I never said that.

    How do you look now?

  • I love MMA, but boxing is my first love. I pretty much agree with everything you said.

  • UFC has a fight on about every week or two charging about 50$, they it always seems to be the biggest fight of the century. In boxing, when a major fight comes on like Pacman vs. Mayweather, everyone flips out for it. UFC just doesnt got the right pace.

  • Thats not true. We've been waiting to see Mayweather vs pacman for like 3 years, and people have been turned off by it. if the UFC countered with Anderson Silva vs Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, save to say the sales would be even.

  • @SamuraixJack No they wouldn't hardcore MMA fans don't want that fight, Brock Lesnar vs Fedor would make close to 3 mill in buys and Shogun vs Silva would easily get two as they are two of the best strikers in MMA.

  • i agree that is a different sport but boxing is dead

  • Real Talk! Boxing Fans stand up! Our sport will never die!!!

  • boxing has been around since the 1800's Face it people the shit is here to stay even with shitty fights and cherry picking the sport is here to stay base ball and golf are extremely boring to me but yet they are here,, MMA i think will make a strong stance and become one of americas favorite sports.. they can co exist neither side has a dam thing to worry about

  • @OZIASALLAH Exactly. It's apples and oranges. To compare the striking is like comparing striking in hockey and soccer. Just completely irrelevant and you can't call one type of striking "shit" if you don't realize there are premier and many times world class strikers from various martial art backgrounds.

  • I like this video, you state your points very well and without putting either sport down. But to say MMA doesn't have the same legacy that boxing does shows lack of research. Pankration (which is a form of hybrid wrestling that includes striking as well as grappling) has been around since 648 BC. Granted, modern MMA is a far cry from that, but watch a pankration fight and you'll see the similarities.

  • @nutsack325 ?? was shootfighting basically japanese MMA or was it an entirely diffrent sport??

  • @OZIASALLAH The roots of all modern mixed martial arts come from pankration. Shootfighting is basically a hybrid style made up of muay thai and catch wrestling but with some traditional martial arts techniques thrown in.

  • @OZIASALLAH Shootfighting is brazilian MMA I think. Not posotive

  • Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing boxing. I can appreciate a good boxing match and I have a lot of respect for the sport, the science behind it and the men who compete. But the fights I most enjoy are vintage, Joe Louis vs Max Schmelling, Henry Cooper vs Muhammad Ali etc. In modern boxing you rarely see a glimpse of what the sport used to be. And that's why I gravitate towards MMA. IMO, it's more exciting and I'm gonna get my moneys worth when I order a fight.

  • @nutsack325 i agree boxing dissapoints us a lot,, if boxing didnt have history on its side and both sports were to hit at the same time MMA would dominate boxings history has a lot to do with its survival.

  • @nutsack325 you don't know nothing about boxing bro you don't know the stars of the sport besides mayweather and pacquiao, you don't watch it period what is another super big fight in the 126 division? you don't know because you are not familiar.I enjoy a decent ufc fight but its nothing special no matter how much kung-fu if they take you to the ground kung-fu is useless.grapling is extremely boring in my opinion. moneys worth? hardy vs GSP is an example of how shitty MMA gets in most of time.

  • You're right, I don't know much about boxing because I haven't watched it for years. And for the record, I'm not a GSP fan. He's about as boring as you can get, he lays and prays his way to a decision win and everyone thinks he's the best. GSP vs Hardy was a letdown, but seeing Frank Mir getting brutalised by Carwin made up for that. If you're not a grappling fan, why don't you watch fights with strikers instead? I'm not even much of a UFC fan, it's just all there is since PRIDE was dissolved.

  • boxing is on its way down, your right a bout maywether vs pac being the biggest fight.... but thats only because those who are hanging on to boxing thats all they have to look forward to.... those are the only big names left. oscar is done; roy is done. all the other big names are done or at the end of their career. mma is on the up, everyone growing up now is watching mma all the kids trainning to fight are traninning mma.. there will always be boxing but that doesnt mean people will watch!!!!!

  • @jrarsen25 i think in all fairness Boxing has made it's statement and has nothing to prove, MMA has a long way to go to match the legacy of boxing, So realistically we have to talk 30 years from now, honestly i would love to see Dana white take over boxing so all the fucking cherry pickin would stop, the best fight the best in MMA and thats why I like it but there is nothing like a good old fashion boxing match

  • i gotta give it to you, Good point about the box office....and good job on not just video taping your self talking shit about mma or anyone...respects

  • i agree that boxing is the big dog now but thats because its been the best for quite some time now but MMA is the new up and comer and it WILL take over boxing maybe in 2 years maybe in 200 but it WILL take over.

  • Agree with you I love boxing but I also watch mma when is for free.

  • MMA people are kidding them self, well strikeforce and UFC fighters can't fight each other, so in lot of divisons the best can''t fight each other, 90% of UFC IS ON ppv and less than 10% of boxing is on PPV, you get HBO and showtime you get 30 cards a year with top shelf boxing live on saturday night with out paying $40 every time, so look at the facts, HBO,Showtime do multi million dollar cards not on PPV and espn, fox sport net, telefrua and telemoundo also do live boxing, wellover100cardsfree

  • @tcwhbsports You're absolutely right. But in fairness the UFC has announced they will be making a major push to providing more free cards. And maybe they can sit at the table again with HBO or CBS who the UFC has turned down for tv deals in prior contract negotiations. With Strikeforce stumbling the UFC would make a killing on CBS. The ratings would be out of this world.

  • Tony is going to get Fu* ked by Randy, but all these MMA guys will get fu*ked in the boxing ring. I think MMA can overtake boxing in popularity if the boxers keep cherry picking and ducking each other. There are too many phony belts and corrupt sanctioning bodies in boxing. The K. bros are not even shown on U.S. tv now. The public is loosing interest in boxing. I am more of a boxing fan, but I think it is good boxing has some competition. I like to watch goods matches in both sports.
