i, for one hope the blackening is not machine head's master of puppets.....i dont want the rest of their career to kind of suck. seriously though, robb flynn is fucking amazing.
for the past year, I´ve looked through countless stores especially hot topic to find Machine Head Merch but they dont carry them. why? because they are not mainstream... and just asking to all you.
if i listen to bands like cky, brand new senses fail, atreyu, thrice, kreater, metalica, trivium, machine head, and iron maiden. but i fucus alot more on the heavy stuff, then what am i considerd? metal head, hardcore? (not that it matters to me but im just asking)

The Blackening diserves to be compaired to Master Of Puppets, 1 because it kicks more ass than anything since pantera/Max era Sepultura, its better than master of puppets

at the end of the day: they still kick ass after 15+ years, they still make awesome music and after everything they've done they've stayed true to themselves.
I know the guys and they are the most down to earth guys u'll ever meet. They do it all for their fans, its what keeps them going.
at the moment- The Blackening is by far the best album they've done to date.. MH are like a awesome wine- gets better with age. Cant wait to see what they bring out next :)

I didnt hear about them through promotion, people told me to have a listen to them because they are good. Just because you have a good record label behind your back, doesnt mean your a mainstream fad of the month scene band, it just goes to show that your good enough to get some financial backing, and good enough to get a good record label to distribute your music, to all the fans that want it.
I just cannot see how anyone could honestly say that Machine Head is commercial metal when you have bands like bullet for my valentine, atreyu, all that remains, and many others producing records that sound like the metal equivalalent of the Jonas Brothers. Machine Head have been around for over 15 years, as far im concerned they have earned their fame.

Wow Machinehead played with Rancid, thatd be a kickass gig, I love both bands. I know most metalheads are not openminded enough to appreciate Rancid, although punk rockers are usually open to metal, it doesnt go the other way round.
I love machine head, Becuase they sing about real problem's depression and war.. Your girlfriend leaving you get's fucking boring after you have heard about 1000 time's.

I think you'll find that Machine Head was formed in '92, and released their debut in '94 to widespread acclaim, Burn My Eyes is STILL regarded as one of the best debut metal albums to this day, so explain how they're not part of the resurgence of Heavy Metal. Machine Head never sold out, yes they changed their sound, which only happened around the time of Ahrue Luster being in the band, The Burning Red and Supercharger as the examples.
The latter being their lowest selling record, after which they were dropped by Roadrunner. While courting other labels they were asked to write a "radio single", which they hated doing, explaining why it has never been released. Sellouts?.
Face facts, Machine Head only became really popular, and what you in your elitist wisdom refer to as "mainstream", with The Blackening purely due to the quality of that album. FTR, your rhetoric of implying i'm a child is stale, try harder

Right, Machine Head themselves admitted they tried to move with the times, not only under pressure from record labels due to falling sales, but also within from the then guitarist Ahrue Luster. After he left and RR records dropped Machine Head, they still wrote and recorded Through the Ashes... with a view to releasing it at their own expense if needs be. THAT is not the action of a band that is "selling out", that is the action of a band doing it for the music.
My point about Ahrue having an influence on the sound is simple, he wanted to push Machine Head into a more melodic direction, something he enjoyed doing with Ill Nino on their "Confessions" album later on i might add, so yes, that is a serious argument.
For the record, i've listened to a few in your fave list, and while i admit i enjoyed a couple, too many of them sound just like the next; pointlessly fast, and not a decent vocalist anywhere in earshot.

I'm not denying that they are quite big commercially now, but to flat out call them sell-outs because of that is grossly unjustified, especially when their changing sound can be attributed to other factors. When you say sell-out i immediately think of bands such as Slipknot, Bullet for my Valentine, Linkin Park, Steel Panther; bands that have intentionally commercialised themselves whether through image or collaberations or whatever else.
and i apologise for my previous poor wording, it's obviously down to personal tastes, just as Machine Head isn't to your tastes i guess the majority of your music isn't to mine. As i said, i did enjoy a couple of them, but there's nothing that especially stands out amongst them for me.

Rob doesn't have the most extreme voice, but still enough to where I would gladly trade!... anyway, people are arguing about MH being mainstream or not, I wouldn't have known about them had it not been for a friend who pays more attention to this type of metal... so I say, who cares, MH kick ass... if u don't think so, that's fine too. I didnt hear about them through promotion, people told me to have a listen to them because they are good. Just because you have a good record label behind your back, doesnt mean your a mainstream fad of the month scene band, it just goes to show that your good enough to get some financial backing, and good enough to get a good record label to distribute your music, to all the fans that want it.

I just cannot see how anyone could honestly say that Machine Head is commercial metal when you have bands like bullet for my valentine, atreyu, all that remains, and many others producing records that sound like the metal equivalalent of the Jonas Brothers. Machine Head have been around for over 15 years, as far im concerned they have earned their fame.

Wow Machinehead played with Rancid, thatd be a kickass gig, I love both bands. I know most metalheads are not openminded enough to appreciate Rancid, although punk rockers are usually open to metal, it doesnt go the other way round.

I love machine head, Becuase they sing about real problem's depression and war.. Your girlfriend leaving you get's fucking boring after you have heard about 1000 time's.
Slipknot are another example allthough all hope is gone wasn't the best, They have done some hard material.... Pulse of the maggots.
Machine head again off of the blackening my favourite song is now I lay thee down, Not the most poppular but relates to me in the biggest way possible.

mmh, yes i understand what you mean. but i still wouldnt consider machine head as a commerce band sorry, just doesnt fit toether with what i see in commerce. i didnt say that you compared them with spears, just used it as an example. and i do believe that mh are that good, commerce is something international for me. i live in germany and mh arent very well known here, only around the people who really know good music. thats not mainstreem.

I think you'll find that Machine Head was formed in '92, and released their debut in '94 to widespread acclaim, Burn My Eyes is STILL regarded as one of the best debut metal albums to this day, so explain how they're not part of the resurgence of Heavy Metal. Machine Head never sold out, yes they changed their sound, which only happened around the time of Ahrue Luster being in the band, The Burning Red and Supercharger as the examples.

Right, Machine Head themselves admitted they tried to move with the times, not only under pressure from record labels due to falling sales, but also within from the then guitarist Ahrue Luster. After he left and RR records dropped Machine Head, they still wrote and recorded Through the Ashes... with a view to releasing it at their own expense if needs be. THAT is not the action of a band that is "selling out", that is the action of a band doing it for the music.

My point about Ahrue having an influence on the sound is simple, he wanted to push Machine Head into a more melodic direction, something he enjoyed doing with Ill Nino on their "Confessions" album later on i might add, so yes, that is a serious argument.
For the record, i've listened to a few in your fave list, and while i admit i enjoyed a couple, too many of them sound just like the next; pointlessly fast, and not a decent vocalist anywhere in earshot.

I'm not denying that they are quite big commercially now, but to flat out call them sell-outs because of that is grossly unjustified, especially when their changing sound can be attributed to other factors. When you say sell-out i immediately think of bands such as Slipknot, Bullet for my Valentine, Linkin Park, Steel Panther; bands that have intentionally commercialised themselves whether through image or collaberations or whatever else.

Its a real pity. Theres some very intelligent men in metal -Rob Flynn, David Vincent, Dave Mustaine ,Corey Taylor, all prove themselves in interviews to be insightful and intelligent.
