  • Dude was that filmed by a person? How could you even get that close without becoming 1,000,000 pieces

  • Out of curiosity, how many blades does that propeller have?

  • That is Sexy!! :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Pacfan98 its just someone makeing a joke on a outherwize silly or serious video. but its technailly a real phobia

  • I find this fascinating and terrifying at the same time. I'm not sure why so many people are freaked out by it, myself included.

  • Io ho il terrore dell'eliche della nave! D:

  • Have you ever gotten really high and just stared at one of those, its got to be really trippy

  • How exactly is this horrific or NSFW? Don't try to censor something just because it makes you feel uncomfortable. Your opinions don't represent everyone.

  • Reported (horrific nsfw images per youtube policy).

  • opens video at 4;30 am noise set on full not expecting it shit brix

  • Wow, that thing moves a LOT of water. I wish I worked on a ship.. Thanks for sharing!

  • I am laughing at these retarded "i'm afraid of propellers" comments. You are thousands of times more likely to die in a car wreck, but you same retards/aholes speed, tailgate, swerve around, illegally pass, fail to signal, start turn from wrong lane, etc, WHILE texting/yammering away. grow up.

  • @kenfo0 it's an actual phobia dude, relax. Everybody has them- It's kind of like how you're afraid of a women's vagina.

  • @TriggerDFox no phobias here, although i do hate homosexual douchebags like you...

  • @kenfo0 you gonna cry? lol

  • @TriggerDFox wow, that was a weak retort. I'll add "stupid" to your list of traits...

  • @kenfo0 It was a serious question, but judging by how you were calling everyone retards and assholes for no worthwhile reason- you were all ready crying.

  • @TriggerDFox stop your incessant whining you faggot. you whine about nothing while thinking you're a wit. Now zip it queer-bait.

  • @kenfo0 "incessant whining"

That's funny, because that's what you were doing when you decided to call people names for being scared of something and then go off on a random ass tangent about driving infractions? lol for some reason....

But I see you like to turn things around on others to hide from the truth. Is that why you seem to most commonly use homosexual terms as insults? Someone's a little insecure :3

  • @TriggerDFox what's the "d" stand for? apparently "douchebag". Why not just run along like the faggot you are, afraid of ship propellers you'll never be near, and stop polluting the internet with your incessant whining? Go outside and make a friend, girlie. It will be hard, because you're a douchebag. Maybe you could start some kind of "douchebag club"....sissies like you could get together an whine ABOUT me instead of TO me. yes, you are insecure. That's a breakthrough for you. Use it.

  • @kenfo0 okay well, after that response I've concluded that you're either 12 or retarded.

  • @TriggerDFox lol. couldn't think of anything better than that, huh trigger "douchebag" fox? You trolled yet can't keep up. That's just pathetic. Looks like you're the 12 yr old.

  • @kenfo0 What trolling?

  • @TriggerDFox Give it up "douchebag". "dude, it's a real phobia". No, it is childish stupidity. If I am wrong, go ahead and break out the DSM-4 classification for me. Can't? Then I guess, as I said, you are FoS and trolling. Now that you've been embarrassed....AGAIN....perhaps you could run along and play with the other 12 y.o.s.

  • @kenfo0 Embarrassed by what? All you've done is repeat the things I'm saying to you lol.

  • @TriggerDFox "itz uh reel fobia". now you are reduced to claiming "I win", like a special olympian who came in last. You failed miserably to support your argument. Continuing to whine and ramble proves what I said...you are stupid, and a troll. bye-bye gay guy!

  • @kenfo0 Do me a flavor: look back at our conversation and notice the length of my responses compared to the length of your responses and then reevaluate who is doing the "whining and rambling" C:

  • @TriggerDFox Hi douchebag. Still no friends, huh? how sad. ok, i checked. Yes, it is still you who whines "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! being afraid of a huge ship's propeller while sitting on land is completely reasonable!". You fucking dunce. I'm still waiting for your reference for "this is legitimate". There is a very simple reason it can't possibly be, but you are too stupid to get it. Now shut up, loser.

  • @kenfo0 lol my point proven

  • @TriggerDFox aaaaah. the douchebag "lols" at the fact she can't provide a reference for "dood itz real sew yer dumm". what a pathetic life you lead. worse, you CHOOSE it.

  • the ship sinking scene of The Black Stallion is what made me afraid of ship propellers.

  • The only thing that scares me is the possibly miles of water under that prop. I rather die a quick violent death then a slow, freezing, darkening, and crushing one.

  • Unheimlich!

  • titanic propeller...

  • My worst nightmare

  • FUCK THAT!!!!!

  • There were buleyes installed in the ship's hull. We had to open and enter an empty tank below the steering gear room to get there. These bulleyes were additionally secured with metal plates screwed to the hull.

  • @drdudek were u scared

  • How was this video made?

  • I have the same problem. I am SO fucking scared of propellers! I think my worst possible fear, apart from drowning, is getting sucked through one of these..but I guess that would kinda incorporate drowning, so...nooo goood... :S

  • it's so big!I'm really scared!

  • Can't wait till supercavitating propellers are hitting mach 3+ at the blade tip.

  • Wow I wonder if I can tie my self against those blades spinning around underwater with an airtank?

  • I have Big-propellor phobia, I don't know why....

  • @DaReggaeMAN77, probably closer to 50 tons.

  • she is surely getting right along yah??

  • o.o *shakes*

  • i am not keen of cruise.very environmentally non friendly, slow and very prone to accidents.long live planes.

  • the fact that people are getting hit by these things scares me out but now seing them made me wet my pants

  • I AM AFRAID OF SEEING BOATS PLANES BUILDING ETC UNDERWATER I DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS A PHOBIA

  • HOW DID U GET THIS FOOTAGE?! >>....?!?!?!

  • imagine getting hit by that!

  • Ah holy hell, that is too fast and gigantic! it must be propellerphobia! Started when we were kids looking at the propeller room at the Queen Mary. Maybe we were all on the Titanic in a past life?

  • amazing! how was this filmed and at what boat speed?

  • Damn. I didn't know that it spun that fast.

  • Seeing a propeller in action.

  • Wow... i dont feel so foolish now that i know im not the only one that has a fear of getting caught in a massive ships propellers.

  • WOW

    How many propellers in it?

  • nice video...how did u record that..??

  • i have a phobia of giant propellers they look very dangous they could tear some one into bits like nothing

  • That is so cool , i have a phobia about people who are freaked out by ship propeller.

  • that video made me dizzy and seasick.

  • I have phobia of those damn things. Especially the big ones of cruise ships or other ships of that size. Can't even take a look at the water in the back of a cruise ship: am too scared I'd see the propellers.

  • @sleepingpriestess23 Same i was so fucking scared of ship/boat propellers seeing them in the water spinning! scarry stuff lol! when i was younger lol!

  • Why is it the underside of ships in the water is so damn dark and spooky? Cool tho....

  • just think the Navy Seals go under aircraft carriers that make these freight ships look like tiny speedboats how they have the balls to get near some of those props i will never know

  • from which place on the ship exactly was this shot?

  • @mamatalu I think it may be shot threw a inspection window. Ship usually have those.

  • I'll put a prop like that in ur bathtub when u're taking a bath! xDDD

  • Ничего ж не видно

  • one time i was swimming and my uncle who owns a lobster boat (my whole family is involved in lobster fishing including me) came up to me and threw the boat into reverse and it sucked me under and when i came back up after he put the boat in nutral and the blades stopped spining i was 6 inches away from the boat another 3 or 4 feet and i would have been a gonner

  • imagine the suction produced by one of these if you were to get near a ship

  • i dont know why but ship propellers scare me...

  • never knew the spun so fast

  • Why are people afraid of this? this looks very nice.

  • I an SO scared of THESE

  • fuck so am I. and I dont even know why. they are cool but damn scary.

  • This video reminds me of the movie SPEED 2:Cruise Control (1997)-Where the guy goes under the Cruise Ship "Seabourn Legend" to try and foul the propeller. Great movie :)

  • These things scare the ever loving shit out of me sometimes!!

  • i'm scared of these fuckers!

  • RPM=Revolutions per minute.

  • RPM? Rounds per minute?

  • revolutions per minute, rotations per minute...they all mean the same thing

  • Pretty interesting. I never knew that some ships were equipped with a window like this.

  • I guess it's the easiest way too see if the propeller is damaged or bent. Sending a diver down in a harbour is cumbersome. And going into drydock is not something ships do frequently for every minor fault.

  • how big is this vessel?

  • rpm..?

  • ...I'm going to have nightmares, tonight.

  • how do you get a shot like this

  • There is a watertight window under the hull in the engine room (likely in the steering engine room) that's used to check the health of the propeller otherwise impossible from over water

  • its a propeller boys... gee

  • i dare you to say that when ur underwater next to one...

  • yer telling me your dad never used the word "screw"?

  • I look scary when u watch it cause its like its trying to suck u in

  • Is the visible spiral pattern actually showing how fast the whole ship is moving through the water?

  • By any chance,is this guy 'Above' the Screw looking through a window? Cause it looks like it...That thing scares me when it's going at 96mph!

  • the company installed some portholes above the prop so they could monitor the cavitation. It can cause damage to propellers so they want to see what part of the prop causes the most cavitation to try and modify the blades

  • Oh,ok.Thx :)

  • is there a chance u could get sucked down into the prop if u fell into the water

  • if you fell in forward of the props you probably wouldnt stand much chance because the blades pull in water with a powerful current.

as the r.m.s. brittanic sank in ww1 the starboard proppelor was half in half out of the water and that was strong enough to pull in and dice a lifeboat and its. occupants.

  • a few of them survived, Violet Jessop jumped from the lifeboat in the last few seconds and lived

she had also survived the sinking of the TItanic, what a lucky lady

  • lol, portsmouth

  • Couldn't fit my name AND Portsmouth, so the O had to go

    I could have written SteveSpicrPortsmouth

in the end I love my name more than I love Portsmouth

  • Pompey rocks!!

  • possibly yes

  • i seen them props whilst scampering about on my jet ski - the ship was unladen- @ 3:00 that looks to be moving 100, 000,000 gallons a minute- the camera is tight to not get sucked into it

  • I don't know what they call this phobia, but I swear whenever I get close to HUGE ships and especially huge ship's propellers, I get really freaked out. This video freaked me the hell out.

  • hey i have the same problem..

  • me two im too afraid of looking at the back of cruise ships

  • skeetingtheheat youve probly got the wrong impression of ships, you might see them (im not saying you do) as rolling about on the ocean sea sick sinking drowning things. but really there quite amazing :D

  • i can sympathise, i occasionally have awful dreams in which i'm sucked into a massive ship's propellors. It's the propellor and the fear of being sucked into it that bugs me, not the massive ship itself, personally i love big ocean liners and cruise ships etc.

  • dude that would suck to have a dream of that. i've thought of it, but never dreamed it. just thinking about it scares me too.

  • Me too, i have a phobia of it

  • @SkeetInTheHeat "It's a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God"

  • @SkeetInTheHeat You're not kidding. Since being five years old, the thought of even swimming next to an ocean liner scares the ever-loving shit out of me.

  • @SkeetInTheHeat

That's funny, i have exactly the same thing XD

Sometimes i dream that this huge ship just cruises over me while i'm swimming :(

The propellors are the scariest things XD

  • @SkeetInTheHeat it is probably NOT a phobia so much as being afraid in the face of something larger than you are when you would be in water, a medium we re helpless in as humans. Not to mention you would surely be injured even mangled in it.

  • @SkeetInTheHeat me too i went to the queen mary when i was 6 and i scared the shit outta me when you see the propeller

  • @jurassicparkboy

That's too funny. My dad took me on the QM at Long Beach back in the seventies and it scared the crap out of me too.

  • @WheelSlip8 i ave to say this but ..... was the queen mary's propeller more shinier than now?

  • @SkeetInTheHeat I'm totally the same!

  • @SkeetInTheHeat - Megalophobia...I'm a sufferer too :-(

  • @SkeetInTheHeat I used to be the same way with big rigs, but then I got a job working around them lol. I actually used to transport boats and yachts and shit. But it wasnt the boats that would scare me it was walking around the front of a big rig while it was running haha

  • @SkeetInTheHeat I feel like this too, i dunno what it is, but when i am close to a outboard engine i dont get freaked out when i see its propeller. But even when i see a large ass propeller underwater i freak out like "woooah" for some reason.

  • @SkeetInTheHeat check out "propeller polishing cruise ship"

  • @SkeetInTheHeat ditto haha

  • @SkeetInTheHeat im with yuh!! i will stand on a bridge and look down on them all day long.. but walking up to one? or getting anywhere NEAR the ramp to climb on board? pff.. this 30 year old man is running the other direction yelling MOMMY!!!! lmao

  • wow i had no idea they spun that fast

  • How did you manage to get such a good shot of it?

  • THAT's why it's so easy to hear a prop from a sub.

  • And because sound is much easier to hear underwater.

  • Best way for a sub to go stealth is to shut down the props and go adrift.

  • too bad it can still be located with sonar

  • suck if the window broke

  • i was almost sucked completely into one of those deep sea diving wit my uncle scary shit!

  • lol my arse

  • i stopped a propeller like that with my front teeth. i lost my face

  • Well, propellers can be shit..

  • k, so your not Chuck Noris =)

  • Sure u can stop that with your hand sure....

  • I bet it'd tickle, too

  • haha yah man, say it would :S :P

  • if your able to see the cavitation @ that speed thats because your already dead :)

  • That prop isn't cavitating. If you look closely, there is a bubble generator ahead of the prop and that is what is creating the trails you see. If the prop were cavitating, you would see that spiral trail of air bubbles break up because cavitation would distrub the flow across the blades.

  • Yeah I see it. Its like some kind of pipe along side the propeller shaft casing. Maybe exhaust? *shrug*

  • hello all! I just want to make a correction about the RPM after my calculation and analysis for the first day it was 116 RPM and not really 96 RPM with 4 blades propeller and i don't hear any comperss cavitation on this audio.thank you

  • Strewth. I never realised they were run so fast. I'd have expected much more cavitation at that RPM. Good screw design eh?

  • When did sea mariners start calling a ships SCREW a propeller(prop). I always thought a prop was on a aircraft.

  • screw is a slang expression, prop is the correct word

  • My dad was in the Royal Navy back in the 70's and he only ever used the word screw.

  • The spiral is a totally vacuum...am i right?

  • the spiral is cavitation which is caused because the pressure in the blades of the prop is decreased and it reaches the vapor pressure of the water (pressure at which the water becomes gas-vapor)

  • were u inside a room beside the propeller or in the water on first scene

  • He'd be dead if he was in the water O_O

  • Wow.

  • I've read about cavitation but never actually seen it happening. Pretty cool idea to put a view window there.

  • Is is bad to have thoes cool looking ripples (cavitation) and all thoes bubbles at the back of the ship?

  • cavitation is bad for the propeller-it causes damage to the blade (wikipedia has a good explaination)

  • No one is swimming in that water. You are looking through a port hole cut into the bottom of the ship directly over the prop to inspect it. The prop is roughly 30' tall, easily one of the larger props props out there. There are bigger, but not by much. The hole is cut into the ship to inspect it for cavitation issues. Which, by the looks of the video, seem to be a serious problem....

  • that is quite horrifying..I would die of fright anywhere near that thing.

  • hmmm, i wouldn't want to be swimming near that!!

  • yes com on it will be fun i take with you :P hehe its only gonna hurt a little :P

  • thats aay hella kool how u do that

  • Thats amazing.

  • that is a big ass prop

  • wow that's sick!! I have had bad dreams about getting sucked into one of those props!

  • is there a window in bottom of this ship ?

  • no hes scuba diving there.

  • he is not scuba diving, if he was he would have been sucked into the propeller. Besides on seconds :11 to :12 you can see the outline of a window on the bottom left hand corner of the video.
