how embarrassing! only one player knew what he was doing!. today, the haka is well rehearsed and more passionate dance. take a look at it when you have a chance
hahaha that was awesome! well not awesome but it was funny, the one they do these days is awesome lol... i cant believe they were actually that bad back then lol.. its crazy
The only ones who knew what they were doing were the Maori players; Sid Going - the legendary halfback, and Kent Lambert from mighty Manawatu (Ranfurly Shield holders and National Champions of that era).
Big Kent was one of the best props NZ ever produced.
A tough truck driver by trade and man could he scrummage.
Other Polynesian players of the day, such as Bryan Williams, Bernie Fraser and Billy Bush, should have been there but were unavailable.
I met Bernie Fraser at KFC across the road from Naenae College, he was with his kids.. one of which, Brooke, was recently in Hollywood making her second album.. my sister punched her in the face coz they went to school and brooke was quite the bitch lol. She shoulder budged my sister when they were walking down the corridor, and that is just one thing you don't do to my sister lol
The great Bryan Williams (Samoan-NZer) number 14, is on the end of the Haka, (although the camera doesn't pan across to show him close-up), he seems to be doing it alright too.
The game was from 1973, and the All Blacks went down 11-23 in an upset, after a successful tour (Where the infamous Keith Murdoch was sent home in disgrace).
One of the greatest ever tries in world rugby was scored against NZ in this game, look it up here, just type in "Great rugby try!!"
the haka has come a long way since this old footage - no one really seems to know what they are supposed to be doing ha ha!!
