Great song. Kinda reminds me of their "The Bends" period. @NIMRODakaNIMROD lol ya i agree for the most part, but I think TKOL has the similar vibe of IR, just flowing nicely, not trying to really prove anything. I guess HTTT could be considered a tad pretentious, but that may be just because of the length, hard to say but I do see where you're coming from :)
this song will sound amazing recorded, i'm feeling a full orchestra kick in at around 1:33 that goes for about 45 seconds than Thom comes back in singing
It was quite good. But I reckon as it was done as a solo piece by thom it will fall under a thom yorke album, alongside lotus flower. Just an assumption.

It's a good song, but I don't think it's good enough for a Radiohead album, honestly. But then again, it might evolve into something amazing in the studio, you never know...

For those who say that Coldplay would do this, Coldplay once said in an interview "We owe most of our career to Radiohead". Radiohead is probably the most original band you will ever hear, that was an opinion for those that took that as fact.
Is this supposed to be some sort of rebuttal to my comment, which wasn't at all intended to attack Radiohead? I just commented that if Chris Martin sang this, it would sound like a legitimate Coldplay song. And don't start on the "Coldplay rips off Radiohead" argument. Do you realize how wildly their styles differ today? Sure they might've been "Radiohead lite" in their Parachutes days, but they sound nothing like Radiohead anymore. If anything, they're U2. :P
the whole thing with Coldplay coppying Radiohead dosent keep up with radiohead's amazing changes in styles...if people talk about someone ripping off radiohead, they are talking about the bends and pablo honey...there is a funny comment Thom made on the subject when asked in an interview how he felt about them coppying their sound, he said"good luck with Kid A" which is true, there is no way, no matter how hard you try, you could get close to Kid A or Amnesiac.
This really reminds me of something Coldplay would do or something.
I realize a shitload of you are going to interpret this as a negative comment, but I think both are amazing bands. Eh, whatever. Bring on the "poor comment" ratings.
this is really strange, here in germany they were all panicing "oooohhh black holes" and so on... and now, after a few days since they started this experiment,.. you don't hear anything of it....
haha yea isn't it strange that when anything news-worthy appears then a sad little white girl has to fall down a fucking well and they go all Oh Em Gee someone died today!... and u should care!
ok, so many negative points for my previos comments. I am trying to defend for Radiohead but nobody understands what was I doing there. Ha ha. It is alright. I lost but you all just don't know what was I doing previously. People said bad things about Radiohead and I argued with them, can't you all see that? Huh?
There's a lot of great unreleased radiohead tracks aren't there? no one place on the internet seems to have a list of them all but i found about 15 from a fairly quick search, but i still couldn't find the one they played in manchester, on this same tour a week or so later. any ideas? quite an upbeat song with the full band, and it's certainly not just an obscure b-side or whatever as i have their entire released catalogue, singles and everything (possibly a bit sad i know but i love this band)
I don't think it was bangers and mash, but then me and the laydee that was with me at the gig had had a few sherberts so, who knows. We're both pretty well versed in radiohead b-sides though, and we'd both heard IRd2, so I don't think that's what they played
tell you what, i just listened to the manchester gig again, and the mystery song was indeed bangers and mash. i hereby declare that i was completely wrong before and you were completely right, there, bet you don't get that very often :)
there's still a lot of great unreleased radiohead tracks, just B&M isn't one of them, it's a great RELEASED radiohead track

And hey, musical scope COULD NOT BE seen from the band that you like the most. I listened to a certain band the most just because I find my life has some kind of connection with them.
But sorry, I have other moments in life too and I surely need other songs to survive. Even I listen to many songs, I still need Radiohead and oh yes, sorry for that I can't live on if there is only one band in this world which is Radiohead!
I want to say NOBODY CAN BE ARTISTICALLY FULFILLED WITH RADIOHEAD ONLY.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
And what to do with that word "market"? I don't even know why people keep on saying Radiohead "marketing"..I agree that Radiohead is really famous and must have something to do with marketing. But have we ever thought of other elements in music THAT ATTRACT FANS..really attract..apart from merely MARKETING? or is that really important to have successful marketing for music?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Artistically fulfilled? Oh well, what do you mean? Even other great artists like our dear Picasso, our dear William Shakespeare, DID MAKE some people ARTISTICALLY FULFILLED IN SOME MOMENTS. Even you like Madonna, you are artistically fulfilled WHEN u are listening to her songs too.
"radiohead being marketed for people who don't have the musical scope to be artistically fulfilled"
Musical scope? Radiohead did widen my musical scope. But hey I am not fulfilled with Radiohead only. I like them the most. But doesn't mean that I have a narrow musical scope!
Sorry..this is my first time to listen to this song, not really noticed that this song has appeared as a new song in live !!
Somehow classical music feeling :P
Hey what are you guyz talking here? Whatever musical taste or things like that, don't mind that too much. You like Radiohead is somehow equal to you like John Zorn.
"gwohlproductions" you're a fucking twat. Grow up. No one cares how "refined" your musical taste is - if you can't appreciate honest, sincere music then I'm sure not many people here are really going to give a shit what you have to say. RH have integrity - they mean what they do and they do it well. I bet you all of your heroes - Mingus, etc - would think you were a cunt if they could hear you talk like this. Part of being really "into" music is having respect for artists with integrity.
Fuck off gwohlproductions. i don't think I'm artsy. I just like the music. And Radiohead never rips off any of those people. I know all of them. You just have nothing better to do then sit at your computer typing comments all across youtube, about how much you hate Radiohead. Your type make me sick. I wish you would do something productive with your life.
Absoulute origanality, anyone who knows the difference between good music and that which is devoid of feeling will concur with this. I do agree no doubt that inspirations were drawn from the likes of Aphex, but this is normal. Its common human trait,Radiohead however do this in a truly beautiful way, they do not mearly copy but convey the true significance. If u wish to even appear to know what you are talking about dont slate this band. Just relax and give it some time, it will all make sense x
Where do some of you think new music comes from? thin air? No. Artists are influenced by other artists. Radiohead draw on so many genres of music, and according to some people here that makes them bad. The band are fully aware of what they are doing, and I fully appreciate the musicians that they draw on, and I don't hate them for it, I admire them for it, and anyway who says they can't?
If you can't find the parallel between Kid A and post-bob jazz musicians, then you clearly don't have a very musical ear. The evidence is QUITE clear throughout the record, especially in later tracks with larger orchestrations.
Yes, they were influenced by Pink Floyd, but to be honest, that's a much more superficial and unimportant connection. That's an obvious one that hopefully every fan should be able to hear. If a fan can hear the connection to Mingus, then they wouldn't like Radiohead.
pretentious much? just let people enjoy what they enjoy without some self-proclaimed critic bashing their tastes. i'm not trying to start a fight, because you're entitled to your own opinions, but maybe you could not be such a cock about showing off you musical 'saviness'?
yet again another raging heated debate over radiohead. haha, get a life.
they're amazing, enough said. anyone who says panic are good or equally as good as radiohead might as well not even have breath wasted on them, c'mon people don't lower yourself, just take pleasure in the fact you like good music and laugh about how someone could be so stupid to make a comment like that :)
"They're amazing, enough said"??? Tell that to all of the electronic composers, 80s dance DJs, free jazz improvisers, and lyricists that Tom Yorke and company STOLE ideas from and then attempted to pioneer as their own. Radiohead is perhaps THE MOST overrated band in modern times, due to their disgusting habit of taking the brilliant ideas of others, dumbing them down to a much lower level, and then releasing it in their pseudo-artistic way, which people crave because they want to feel artistic.
Just about all musicians take ideas from elsewhere. What makes Radiohead so good is the very wide, unusual range of influences they draw from. They also adapt outside influences to their music extremely well, and still come out sounding like themselves, rather than an unoriginal ripoff.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yes, we musicians take others' ideas, but we don't simply rip them off and use them as the entire structure/theme of the song. A better term would be "influence" - a term that Radiohead doesn't understand the meaning of. They think that copying Mingus, trip-hop DJs, Aphex Twin, and Sun Ra will make them sound better to the millions of brain-dead college students that think they're "artsy" for listening to them. But to those with a broad knowledge of music, they just sound like scam artists.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No, I'm sure the members of Radiohead are all quite smart. That's why they're so successful - because they've marketed themselves as the perfect fit to sell to a VERY large market base (young adults that lack the musical scope to be truly artistically fulfilled). I'm not sure what Oxford University has anything to do with Radiohead's song-writing abilities. Even if it contained a prestigious music school, Oxford certainly didn't contribute to their awful lyrics or lame use of electronic beats.
HAHA you've just made a msitake '(young adults that lack the musical scope to be truly artistically fulfilled)' GCSE music gonna do it A level gonna do it in universtiy i look at radiohead and thats what i want to be like because they are original sound did you know one of the members got an award for a peice of music they done for a film? Know any other bands that do that? If they were to fit into a market wouldn't all children be listening to them? Wouldn't their name be something like Mcfly?
Ever heard of John Zorn? He's a real innovator that has received the McArthur Genius Grant for his film scores. That's about the biggest honor you can get for being a musical innovator.
Then again, you appear to be an illiterate and unintelligent dolt, so I won't waste any more words on you.
Im a jazz musician, and yes john zorn is probably more talented than all members of radiohead, though that doesnt stop them from being the best rock band that have ever been (IMO). They're immensly talented, and if you are as qualified as you claim then you would recognise that.
Super Collider is by no means a good song for Radiohead's standards but they are still amazing
about the comment of radiohead being marketed for people who don't have the musical scope to be artistically fulfilled. I think that's not what it is about at all really. John Zorn does do things that are beyond what radiohead could conceive of doing in music theory ya da da da. But Radiohead is not about complexity its about just everybody having a good time and getting off screaming the words together. And they are genius in writing songs that everyone can get into and have fun.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Perfect fit for teenagers?!
Not Radiohead now. Sorry. Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Maroon 5 and bands like that can defintely do this job better and earn much more income than Radiohead. Ok who taught those bands those punk, pop, SIMPLE rhythm guitar and bass, lovable lyrics and melodies? Blame the Yales or Harvard University this time? oh man...
Who are the one who is narrow in music scope? Not me and not everyone else here. Got the answer yourself.
it amazes me that you were all fucking stupid enough to even merit such a ridiculous comment with a response, and no i don't expect a pat on the back. why would i? i'm obviously doing this to prove a point, not to get life friends.
its still amazes me though how bitter you can be over something you love. i can't understand it.
Simply because I said that I sense much idiocy in here, it doesn't mean that I was referring to people not liking Radiohead. I was referring more to the context of the comments. Hence why I spaced "Radiohead are gods." Completely different line of thinking, there.
If you don't like Radiohead, that's fine, I can understand. Just don't insult them.
if only radiohead fans invested as much time in loving and enjoying the music as they did attacking and crucifying those who don't. again, i love radiohead but some of you guys make it embasrassing to be a fan.
heres a bombshell. i was posing as 'joecroall'. i'm a HUUUUUUUUGE radiohead fan. kid a will be played at my funeral in its entirety. however, it amazes me how bitter you guys are. how viciously you attack someone's opinion. don't beat them with logic, yes just insult. inform them why radiohead are good etc..
its quite scary how sad some radiohead fans can get. also how stupid you are to be sucked in by that blatently provocative quote.
Euanobm, and what exactly kind of reaction did you expect when you were typing that shit like and imbecile, and not only that, but the way you were expressing your "fake" opinion was rather obnoxious as well. No, really, what did you expect in return? You made fun of the band and people who love it, you did it disgustingly, and you didn't even back it up with any reason or logic. What do you expect? A pat on the back?
So Thom forgot the lyrics this night and had to improvise the lyrics on the spot. Not his best performance but good nonetheless. The album version is spectacular.

ok, so many negative points for my previos comments. I am trying to defend for Radiohead but nobody understands what was I doing there. Ha ha. It is alright. I lost but you all just don't know what was I doing previously. People said bad things about Radiohead and I argued with them, can't you all see that? Huh?

There's a lot of great unreleased radiohead tracks aren't there? no one place on the internet seems to have a list of them all but i found about 15 from a fairly quick search, but i still couldn't find the one they played in manchester, on this same tour a week or so later. any ideas? quite an upbeat song with the full band, and it's certainly not just an obscure b-side or whatever as i have their entire released catalogue, singles and everything (possibly a bit sad i know but i love this band)
andrewsurtees 3 years ago
nothing new or obscure was played at the machester gig. are you sure you don't just mean bangers and mash from IRCD2?
atheistpeas 3 years ago
I don't think it was bangers and mash, but then me and the laydee that was with me at the gig had had a few sherberts so, who knows. We're both pretty well versed in radiohead b-sides though, and we'd both heard IRd2, so I don't think that's what they played
andrewsurtees 3 years ago
tell you what, i just listened to the manchester gig again, and the mystery song was indeed bangers and mash. i hereby declare that i was completely wrong before and you were completely right, there, bet you don't get that very often :)
there's still a lot of great unreleased radiohead tracks, just B&M isn't one of them, it's a great RELEASED radiohead track

Artistically fulfilled? Oh well, what do you mean? Even other great artists like our dear Picasso, our dear William Shakespeare, DID MAKE some people ARTISTICALLY FULFILLED IN SOME MOMENTS. Even you like Madonna, you are artistically fulfilled WHEN u are listening to her songs too.
thyy 3 years ago
"radiohead being marketed for people who don't have the musical scope to be artistically fulfilled"
Musical scope? Radiohead did widen my musical scope. But hey I am not fulfilled with Radiohead only. I like them the most. But doesn't mean that I have a narrow musical scope!
thyy 3 years ago
Sorry..this is my first time to listen to this song, not really noticed that this song has appeared as a new song in live !!
Somehow classical music feeling :P
Hey what are you guyz talking here? Whatever musical taste or things like that, don't mind that too much. You like Radiohead is somehow equal to you like John Zorn.
All music fans are equal. Please dont compare!

"If a fan can hear the connection to Mingus, then they wouldn't like Radiohead."
Explain this statement, why would they not like Radiohead?
Because there is a connection?
please, go further with that
And if you're going to try to go esoteric with a musician, you can reach further than Charles Mingus can't you?
Don't get me wrong, I love the big guy, but if you're really trying to show people how brilliant you are can't you dig for a more obscure name?
Google another musician and respond?

Fuck off gwohlproductions. i don't think I'm artsy. I just like the music. And Radiohead never rips off any of those people. I know all of them. I wish you would do something productive with your life.

hey gwholproductions
give me one instance where radiohead DIRECTLY rips off one of those artists you mentioned.
you wont be able to.
dreadboystarchild 3 years ago
Absoulute origanality, anyone who knows the difference between good music and that which is devoid of feeling will concur with this. I do agree no doubt that inspirations were drawn from the likes of Aphex, but this is normal. Its common human trait,Radiohead however do this in a truly beautiful way, they do not mearly copy but convey the true significance. If u wish to even appear to know what you are talking about dont slate this band. Just relax and give it some time, it will all make sense x
wingtsunnineoeight 3 years ago 3
gwohlproductions, you're a cunt.
why click onto a video of Radiohead to simply slate the band and insult everyone who came on here to enjoy watching?
just fuck off and argue with yourself or something, meanwhile we can admire the talents of mr. yorke and co.
and begily is right, EVERYONE is/was influenced by someone or something else, its just the way it works.
lukeyboy3333 3 years ago 3
Where do some of you think new music comes from? thin air? No. Artists are influenced by other artists. Radiohead draw on so many genres of music, and according to some people here that makes them bad. The band are fully aware of what they are doing, and I fully appreciate the musicians that they draw on, and I don't hate them for it, I admire them for it, and anyway who says they can't?

redflagal08 3 years ago
gwohlproductions, what the fuck are you talkin about? i listen to charles mingus and every other
great jazz artists, but i dont think rAdiohead is coping them at all,or rip them of. LMAO
yes they know what the word "infulence" means
because they are influenced by PINK FLOYD and no i am not comparing them to each other.
redflagal08 3 years ago 2
If you can't find the parallel between Kid A and post-bob jazz musicians, then you clearly don't have a very musical ear. The evidence is QUITE clear throughout the record, especially in later tracks with larger orchestrations.
Yes, they were influenced by Pink Floyd, but to be honest, that's a much more superficial and unimportant connection. That's an obvious one that hopefully every fan should be able to hear. If a fan can hear the connection to Mingus, then they wouldn't like Radiohead.
gwohlproductions 3 years ago
pretentious much? just let people enjoy what they enjoy without some self-proclaimed critic bashing their tastes. i'm not trying to start a fight, because you're entitled to your own opinions, but maybe you could not be such a cock about showing off you musical 'saviness'?
Lateduster 3 years ago
yet again another raging heated debate over radiohead. haha, get a life.
they're amazing, enough said. anyone who says panic are good or equally as good as radiohead might as well not even have breath wasted on them, c'mon people don't lower yourself, just take pleasure in the fact you like good music and laugh about how someone could be so stupid to make a comment like that :)
lukeyboy3333 3 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show
"They're amazing, enough said"??? Tell that to all of the electronic composers, 80s dance DJs, free jazz improvisers, and lyricists that Tom Yorke and company STOLE ideas from and then attempted to pioneer as their own. Radiohead is perhaps THE MOST overrated band in modern times, due to their disgusting habit of taking the brilliant ideas of others, dumbing them down to a much lower level, and then releasing it in their pseudo-artistic way, which people crave because they want to feel artistic.
gwohlproductions 3 years ago
Just about all musicians take ideas from elsewhere. What makes Radiohead so good is the very wide, unusual range of influences they draw from. They also adapt outside influences to their music extremely well, and still come out sounding like themselves, rather than an unoriginal ripoff.
bomberhird5 3 years ago 4

Yes, we musicians take others' ideas, but we don't simply rip them off and use them as the entire structure/theme of the song. A better term would be "influence" - a term that Radiohead doesn't understand the meaning of. They think that copying Mingus, trip-hop DJs, Aphex Twin, and Sun Ra will make them sound better to the millions of brain-dead college students that think they're "artsy" for listening to them. But to those with a broad knowledge of music, they just sound like scam artists.
gwohlproductions 3 years ago
are you implying they are dumb and can't ame any of their own music? Why don't you go and tell that to oxford university see what they say dumbass
glenjammin45 3 years ago

No, I'm sure the members of Radiohead are all quite smart. That's why they're so successful - because they've marketed themselves as the perfect fit to sell to a VERY large market base (young adults that lack the musical scope to be truly artistically fulfilled). I'm not sure what Oxford University has anything to do with Radiohead's song-writing abilities. Even if it contained a prestigious music school, Oxford certainly didn't contribute to their awful lyrics or lame use of electronic beats.
gwohlproductions 3 years ago
HAHA you've just made a msitake '(young adults that lack the musical scope to be truly artistically fulfilled)' GCSE music gonna do it A level gonna do it in universtiy i look at radiohead and thats what i want to be like because they are original sound did you know one of the members got an award for a peice of music they done for a film? Know any other bands that do that? If they were to fit into a market wouldn't all children be listening to them? Wouldn't their name be something like Mcfly?
glenjammin45 3 years ago
Wow - are you drunk right now?
Ever heard of John Zorn? He's a real innovator that has received the McArthur Genius Grant for his film scores. That's about the biggest honor you can get for being a musical innovator.
Then again, you appear to be an illiterate and unintelligent dolt, so I won't waste any more words on you.
gwohlproductions 3 years ago
dont be a prick.
TehWinnerz 3 years ago
about the comment of radiohead being marketed for people who don't have the musical scope to be artistically fulfilled.
