@CORVAIRWILD Because I have the pump advanced as far as it will go, otherwise it won't run. The pump is getting really bad- it runs like crap. I'm going to switch it with the one off the other engine, double check that the drive gear is timed right. If the other pump does that same then its time for a new chain.
boy came into my work yesterday with a 6.2 doing the same replaced the chain she was good as new now im not sure if you have the same problem but it seems to be.
When mine did that the pump was going. It never stalled out right but it ran like a bucket of shit with that pump on the truck. It always smoked, warm, cold, etc.
MIGHT BE THE CHAIN OR THE CAM IS OFF.

How could this be a stretched timing chain? I would guess bad pump?
