Just saw your video. Good one however I think that you holding the pads too low. The hooks to the face are almost at the same high of the body ones. Aren't you suppose to have he pads at the same hight of your chin ??
My trainer always taught me not to shift back after hitting the guy, only if he starts hitting you, if he keeps protecting himself, look for openings, the ribs and lower stomach are easy targets, people tend to block the face alot, the stomach is more better to hit and can wind them, then once they go to block their stomach, overhand to the head and knockout.
oh yeah if ppl are getting so technical about it go look for freddie roach, the best boxing coach in the world atm. this guy has trained ppl like tyson, dela hoya, amir khan and manny pacquiao
@gekiryudojo are u serious? he's training manny pacquiao right now onl the est p4p boxer whose gone up 8 diff weight divisions with 8 titles, u dont know mike tyson? freddie roach trained all those n more. oh yeah might interest you to know he's the number 1 coach atm....like in the world, a better coach there is not lol
@gekiryudojo true, still cant believe u havent heard of him. u should look him up he knows everything, id rather have the best coach in the world tho lol. look up a guy on youtube called ironpacman hd i think it is he has a good highlight of manny. oh and manny is arguably the best boxer in the history of boxing.......but its debatable
well i been around boxing for awhile and i follow all the top fighters n contenders in the world atm, this kid has good technique so i dont know what any of the others are putting him down for, seeing as how its for basic pad combinations id say he set a pretty good example. Id like to see the ppl putting him down use even have the technique but they'd probs get gassed within a minute.
This kid has very good potential, but I'm not being an asshole, he's very predictable. He would definitely win in most street fights, except against people who are strong boxers and have experience, like myself. Please instruct him to protect his face more when he is throwing the combos, as all it take is one punch to hit his wide open chin and he's out.
@Manggg16 He's throwing punches against pads in a set combination. Of course he's going to be predictable... His chin is also hardly wide open, his uppercut if a bit loopy but his hands right by his chin to counter anything. Have to say you seem a bit of a youtube tough guy wannabe
@EnglandHass First off, I am not an internet tough guy wannabe, I'm trying to spread my knowledge of the amazing sport ,boxing, which I have currently participated in for 5 years now with the top trainers in my state. The way you practice, is the way you fight. When throwing combos against pads in practice, if you are doing it incorrectly, you will use these wrong techniques during an actual match. I am not dissing him, but trust me, if you pause while he's throwing, you'll see wide openings.
@Manggg16 Y'know, I have to agree. His form troubles me, especially those wide looping uppercuts and hooks where he leaves his hands out, setting up for the next punch instead of bringing them back to protect his face. Also, his punches don't snap the way I've always been taught. However, according to the uploader, he got a silver medal at the WKA World Championships. I don't give a whole lot of weight to point-sparring competitions, but still, who's to say?
@ProfessorScience Exactly, I'm sorry, but this is not boxing, I love when i fight people like this, all I have to do is throw one punch and he'll be out
Great combos but like Bennyhamprttsaid no deffemce!!!! Theyneeds to also get use to getting back in to basic deffence!!!! Cant jus train offence due to deffence being equaly important!!!!!! Gotta keep those hands up !!!
Well done...the kid has really good rotational power, and good footwork...I would guess him at about 145 lbs, but I'll bet his punches feel more like 180. Hahaha! Well trained. Looks like this drill is producing the desired effects. (I may steal this one for my students too)
I might also add that it looks to me like this is a gym/dojo where a person could get their money's worth. (And trust me, I should know) Keep up the good work!
@scienceman030 Hi thanks for your comments, Lee competed at 58k at the time in muay thai and kickboxing, he also won a silver medal at the world championships (WKA), he's a great young man with an excellent attitude. He gets a lot of negative comments on here for his 'boxing' form, but this was never meant for that, it was to teach basic pad positions and to introduce new students to pad holding. I'm glad you got something from the footage. Watch some of the Thai's I filmed recently while in BKK
I actually found just what i was looking for I'm not new to fighting but new to the boxing technique and wanted to find some combos to practice to work on the form and discipline so thanks very much one question its it safe to practice these on my heavy bag??
@ajshelton67 Hi, yeah you can do the same variety of punches on a heavy bag, you'd have to adjust the way you throw the uppercuts slightly, unless you have an uppercut attachment on the bag or have a bag that allows the proper angle of uppercut, as I said in the video don't train this as a fight combo, just use it to flow through the different kinds of punches, mixing them up. Best wishes with your training!! Dave
@EveryonesBallsack ok im sorry hes better than pacquiao then.... im just making a comment on what i see and im not saying that im better than him.... but his footwork is not than good
good boxing technique for a casual kid for sure, and he clearly trains in mixed martial arts hence the Gi and environment. Good on you lad. Despite what all the armchair experts on here say you have to throw combos to learn combos, at the same time that makes this video redundant in teaching combos. you need to learn the punches and then throw em to know.
But then again im on the other end of this keyboard. So just keep doing what your doing mate. good vid.
I'm unsure of the reasons for peoples critique; he did very nicely. The second combination with the shovel hooks was good as he stepped off to the side (thus off the centerline of the mitt holder) ; only thing I saw "wrong" was no head movement, but thats just me really looking for something wrong. I'd dare say he would do very well in a match or on the street.
Its really interesting to read peoples comments regarding this footage, I'll say it again, its not a fight sequence or fighting combination, its a PAD DRILL for developing basic pad skills. Its a drill to teach 'NEW' students how to hold the pads, thats all, everyone comes on here commenting on all the things my student is doing wrong with his technique, thats fine and understandable, but some of the comments people make are just rude, I appreciate comments but come on some of you!
@DavidBreed No matter what anyone shows here on Youtube, someone, somewhere will always criticise it, even if you get it "perfect". I don't know what it is, but a lot of people who train seem to think their way is gospel. They cannot grasp that people have different ways of doing the same thing. As I say, its not the colour of the cat that matters, it's whether or not it kills mice.
@lathesius "As I say, its not the colour of the cat that matters, it's whether or not it kills mice." Great quote, I really like that one! Thanks for your reply, I have no problem with people criticising technique or my coaching skills they have every right, but it seems this pad drill in particular gets alot, it was never intended to be a fight drill etc, just an easy routine to help beginning students get a feel for holding the pads for a range of different punches. Best wishes Dave
@DavidBreed I train Muay Thai and yes, pad work is just that: pad work. It's meant to build fundamentals and timing, as you said you mix in some other looks. I wouldn't mind getting pad work from you one bit. I like the Mexican hook part as well.
@DavidBreed do like us-dont read the fucking comments, cause haters gonna hate dude ;) Btw how are these 2 black things on both sides of the blue bag called ( hanging on the wall with numbers on them) -i gotta get one of those, they help alot
@immortaliserwow Hi, I know what your saying, its just some of my younger students watch these videos and its quite shocking just how rude some people can be, if they don't like it, fine, I've no problem whatsoever! The wall bags I got sent over from Thailand years ago, their made by Fairtex and have been great, their really well made and durable, not cheap but do last! Thanks for your comments and best regards always! Dave
Hes only developing his strength, In a normal setting he should be moving, Left right, Moving his head, not just standing there and coming back into the mitts
@jasonohmad - ummm... the point isn't to actually land all eight punches of the combo though is it. The point is that if your punch rate is high enough and you string enough shots together your odds of hitting your opponent improve. Not only do you stand a better chance of catching him with some of the shots out of eight... but you also make an impression on the judges and begin to intimidate your opponent. Something to consider.
Realy like those videos but I realy don't like his first leg move at the begining of his combo. (Like he tries to kick instead of using all hiw weight)
Again, I realy like the videos but this isn't the best Boxing video turorial.
GOOD VID BUT LOOK AT ANY PADWORK FROM A BOXER AND NOTICE THE DIFFRENCE IN HOW THE PUNCHES TRANSFER GRACEFULLY WHILE STILL KEEPING HANDS UP AND ELBOWS IN. GOOD JOB TO THE KID, THE TRAINERS TO BLAME!
haha he has no defense and sum1 like me with a good counter would let him throw this exhaustin combo while steppin to the side and just parry him with jabs an hooks and dont get it twisted sparring is so much dif than hittin pads that wont hurt u lol
guy drives alot of power from hes legs and trunk rotation.. this kid would definitely fool somebody in the street.. oh its just a skinny white boy.. lol.. noooooooo
when some douche gives you a shove you straight bust out this combination and knock him silly, in theory, he shouldnt even be standing after the 3rd or 4th punch but its still badass
@buckeyefanagh Well Close maybe but if you look near the end of his combination's he`s not tucking his chin and his hands are to low to guard anything pretty bad actually. Mostly on the full speed versions he`s firing those shots from nipple hight. Also a very looping style which combined with his chin being up means lights out. for the last thing watch his feet he`s excited but not pivoting almost at all, so its all arms no power that you get from the hips and body. Theres more but he`ll learn.
@theEdinero Check your inbox. By the way its your loss no to except advice. The man who listens to others is wise while the man defending his ways and never opening himself to correction is a fool. Doesn't mean that someone else is always right but even if 1 thing they say you can take and apply out of 100 is still 1 more thing you've learned.
@heath832 I've read the art of war. Don't worry about who I am; I know who I am, do you know who you are? I'm always open to advice, the things you proposed are fundamental things. In all honesty this kids technique is not that bad, its a pad work exercise.
@theEdinero You should also pick up the book the art of war. here's one quote you can apply right now. "Know yourself and your enemy and you need not fear 100 battles". to go against this and assume you know me would be putting yourself in jeopardy. I'm not thinking I know you at all believe me I'm not just assuming you're a nobody. I always assume my opponent is the best or when I talk with someone I say thing to judge their reactions to gain knowledge on what type of person they (you) are.
His punching style is not much looks alike an english boxer instead his punching style more looks like a kick boxers.
When he throw hooks or upper cut he doesn't move his foot. That is we do in thai boxing but in conventional boxing it's not good.Watch Manny Pac mit works. He always use his feet in every single punch....that generate kinetic powers.
@ChiTownz1 Shut your ass up. I live in Chicago too, born and raised, and all you ghetto ass people don't know how to fight, that's why you use guns. Go back to whatever project you grew up in because real Chicagoans don't want you here. But wait is that the Jonas Brothers and Motion City Soundtrack on your profile? Looks like you're not so tough and gangster after all, ChiTownz.
@Kakashi949 u loser. tht combo woundt do shit in a boxing match. i use my fists. u have no life so u get selfesteem through youtube. im a white guy, yes, but everyone in tha chi says chi. u retard, some spoiled ass kid meet me any day, kakashi, wtf you watch cartoons all day 2? lol step up bitch i'll show u a gangster. fuckin porchmonkey!
@ChiTownz1 Porchmonkey? . I'd like to see experience it firsthand and say the same, hell, you wouldn't be ABLE to say anything. I live in the East Side and no one goes around like an idiot saying "tha chi" if you're going to say chi anything say chi-town dumbass. Say anything about my name you want, I made this when I was a kid, but at least i'm not trying to pull off being ghetto with a stupid ass name like ChiTownz1. I'd step up any day and show you your fucking place.
@ChiTownz1 And learn some respect before you go saying shit. If you didn't notice it's dedicated to someone that died. I swear, people like you make me ashamed of my own generation.
@ChiTownz1 And learn some respect before you go saying shit. If you didn't notice it's dedicated to someone that died. I swear, people like you make me ashamed of my own generation.

good coaching and good speed, power and accuracy, im a boxer by trade (amateur) but i can take away some thing from this. Alot of negative comments dont even come from fighters, alot just like the idea and have no balls or heart to train and step in the ring. keep it up, good vid.
Gents if you think you can do better either go fight this man or do your own youtube lesson. Im looking forwerd to see if your fists are as fast as your cheep comments
whats everyone on about an over hand right is a very effective punch, i use it in street fights workswonders and take a look a frank mir he throws them often.
daid your awesome...seriously your the first black belt who knows how to really fight. most people wearing a gi and black belt just jump up in down trying to kick each other. Am a muay thai fan. could you do some video's with leg kicks and punch combinations like these. plz?
Some constructive criticism for the student here: The kid should work on his footwork and he should try to protect his chin with his shoulders. I know he is not a pro and he is still learning, but to me at least, footwork and basic defense are the ticket to good performance. In my opinion, there is no need to throw punches like the overhand right if you don't have a very solid footwork. But he is still young and will learn. Other than that - good drills. They are useful in a lot of areas.
I have a question based on a concern: How likely or probable is it to brake one's chin in two when performing a kick? I just got done watching a few videos of guys breaking their legs while kicking. One breaks it in spite of wearing chin pads and another actually breaks it on some dudes ass! What the hell? Is this a problem in the world of Kick Boxing and MMA? It's got me thinking twice about kicking below the waist! Please tell me this don't happen often!
I wonder how many people who comment on videos like this actually do a martial art. I do - ITF Taekwondo - I'm ok, not brilliant, but I really enjoy it. The thing is I can count on one hand the number of people I've met (outside of my club) who have ever tried a martial art. I certainly wouldn't come on here and criticise these guys who know what they are doing. People watch Ong Bak once and think they are experts. Either watch the video or don't, but leave out the ill-informed comments.
That is a great combo. But im more of a kicks fella. But very good work

The kid actually has really good form but if he wants to continue with that style than he had better learn to get use to taking hits.

Unless you're fighting someone who recently has had a stroke you would probably never be able to land an EIGHT punch combo in a match.
jasonohmad 8 months ago
@jasonohmad or unless your last name was pacquaio and you were fighting someone called clottey
paquaio09 7 months ago
@jasonohmad - ummm... the point isn't to actually land all eight punches of the combo though is it. The point is that if your punch rate is high enough and you string enough shots together your odds of hitting your opponent improve. Not only do you stand a better chance of catching him with some of the shots out of eight... but you also make an impression on the judges and begin to intimidate your opponent. Something to consider.
ignitestrength 7 months ago
Realy like those videos but I realy don't like his first leg move at the begining of his combo. (Like he tries to kick instead of using all hiw weight)
Again, I realy like the videos but this isn't the best Boxing video turorial.

GOOD VID BUT LOOK AT ANY PADWORK FROM A BOXER AND NOTICE THE DIFFRENCE IN HOW THE PUNCHES TRANSFER GRACEFULLY WHILE STILL KEEPING HANDS UP AND ELBOWS IN. GOOD JOB TO THE KID, THE TRAINERS TO BLAME!
murk7yrs1 9 months ago
haha he has no defense and sum1 like me with a good counter would let him throw this exhaustin combo while steppin to the side and just parry him with jabs an hooks and dont get it twisted sparring is so much dif than hittin pads that wont hurt u lol

buckeyefanagh 10 months ago 68
when some douche gives you a shove you straight bust out this combination and knock him silly, in theory, he shouldnt even be standing after the 3rd or 4th punch but its still badass
EXQD2 10 months ago
@buckeyefanagh actually a street fight is way different then how he is learning. street fight you can do whatever you want
Bestdude231 10 months ago
@Bestdude231 Like kicking in the balls n my personal favorite trying to bit the person's nose off.
ImTheDude909 9 months ago

Doesn't mean that someone else is always right but even if 1 thing they say you can take and apply out of 100 is still 1 more thing you've learned.
heath832 7 months ago
@heath832 I've read the art of war. Don't worry about who I am; I know who I am, do you know who you are? I'm always open to advice, the things you proposed are fundamental things. In all honesty this kids technique is not that bad, its a pad work exercise.
theEdinero 7 months ago
@theEdinero You should also pick up the book the art of war. here's one quote you can apply right now. "Know yourself and your enemy and you need not fear 100 battles". to go against this and assume you know me would be putting yourself in jeopardy. I'm not thinking I know you at all believe me I'm not just assuming you're a nobody. I always assume my opponent is the best or when I talk with someone I say thing to judge their reactions to gain knowledge on what type of person they (you) are.

Beautiful combination!
His punching style is not much looks alike an english boxer instead his punching style more looks like a kick boxers.
When he throw hooks or upper cut he doesn't move his foot. That is we do in thai boxing but in conventional boxing it's not good.Watch Manny Pac mit works. He always use his feet in every single punch....that generate kinetic powers.

good coaching and good speed, power and accuracy, im a boxer by trade (amateur) but i can take away some thing from this. Alot of negative comments dont even come from fighters, alot just like the idea and have no balls or heart to train and step in the ring. keep it up, good vid.

you should practice rotating and finding angles by pivoting on the toe. Might develop that bad habit were he jumps back after every combo
