I'm very happy that you took the time to look at Geert wilders political career and standpoints.
I am dutch and an Atheist. but I strongly disagree with Geerts political course of exclusion of (misguided) people. Something that I've been seeing is that Geert gets alot of suport from foreign free thinkers and defenders of free speech. And that is good! free speech MUST NOT be sacrificed to satisfy religion.
but supporters should also look at what else they are supporting. and be clear about it.
Islam as a basis and what it stands for is far worse than Nazism, if we tolerate that because there are 'nice muslims' or 'It's a religion, and this is a multicultural society' then someone has a severe need to reorder their priorities.
Their ideology does not mesh with our human rights, or moral values, and literally would be like stepping backwards a good thousand years.
People who do not see the threat this will pose in the future, need to do some research themselves.
For a simple version of what will happen: Islam out-breeds or immigrants come in and out-weigh our population. Our society is a democracy, and so favours the majority. Islamic rule will be imposed and their values along with morals. Our civilization/culture is destroyed.
Islamic ideology is not a nice one, and is not something you'd likely wish in your own country, but if we keep being push-overs and let this happen, then I guess you'll pay your price for complacency.
If you want to know what it's like, have a good look into islamic countries and their laws and ways of life. Look into how islam has operated in europe with shiria law districts, mosques that have been uncovered for preaching hate, Russia with their extremely hard time with islamic states created within russia, sweden with their huge crime rate influx due to muslims. The list is huge, and yet there are still people out there who completely ignore this EUROPEAN WIDE problem.

I agree with what you say about Fitna, but must point out that Wilders himself really is a small-minded hatemonger who confuses freedom of speech with freedom of racism and bigotry, and actually has a problem with the Dutch Moroccan community rather than with Islam. One should be able to make a movie critical of Islam, but Wilders did so for entirely the wrong reasons.

I have to disagree with the Hitler comparison as well. I sort of drew a similar parallel in my mind a few years back, but it's far too simplistic. I think a major difference between the way Wilders attacks Muslims and the way extremists preach against people of other faiths and cultures, or the way Hitler talked about the Jews, is that Wilders does not go as far as to promote physical violence against those he opposes. While I agree that he is definitely not kosher in many ways, he's no Hitler.
I absolutely agree with your points. Particularly, I draw that same distinction between believing Wilders has the right to promote his views, as opposed to liking them. Personally, I don't like the guy's views at all, but I do think he should be free to express them. I made this point on another board but unfortunately could not find anyone else who has a similarly nuanced view. It was made out to be a case of "either with us or against us", and I think that's a false dichotomy in this case.

Something that I've been seeing is that Geert gets alot of suport from foreign free thinkers and defenders of free speech. And that is good! free speech MUST NOT be sacrificed to satisfy religion.

I agree with what you say about Fitna, but must point out that Wilders himself really is a small-minded hatemonger who confuses freedom of speech with freedom of racism and bigotry, and actually has a problem with the Dutch Moroccan community rather than with Islam. One should be able to make a movie critical of Islam, but Wilders did so for entirely the wrong reasons.

The real risk of Islamic fundementalism is if we abandon our principles, you know, freedom and all that jazz, to oppose them. If we start chucking out other groups because they're different, then we've lost.

I don't know if the Disclosure Project stuff is true, but it's difficult to ignore the credentials of the people who testified at the 2001 Washington press conference; military people, scientests, "black ops" people......they had a lot to lose by coming forth. The media has done a good job making folks who come forward the objects of jokes and ridicule.

The irony is that Fitna says that parts of the Koran promote violence and the response of the Muslims is threats of violence, as with Mr Ahmed and his ten thousand footsoldiers. Some Muslims dont seem to get the notion of irony, they cant say Islam means peace and then threaten to behead everyone who wont tow their line. If those Muslims were peaceful then no doubt they would hear what Wilders says and shrug their shoulders but their reaction speaks volumes about whether he's right or wrong.

well comparing him with hitler is crossing a line, but i do think he is hypocritical in some aspects. He fights for freedom of speech but wanted to denie a muslim speaker acces to the country (although i don't like what this muslim, i forgot his name, is preaching... and he wasn't denied acces and he didn't cross a line) but that is kinda hypocritical.

I have to disagree with the Hitler comparison as well. I sort of drew a similar parallel in my mind a few years back, but it's far too simplistic. I think a major difference between the way Wilders attacks Muslims and the way extremists preach against people of other faiths and cultures, or the way Hitler talked about the Jews, is that Wilders does not go as far as to promote physical violence against those he opposes. While I agree that he is definitely not kosher in many ways, he's no Hitler.

I absolutely agree with your points. Particularly, I draw that same distinction between believing Wilders has the right to promote his views, as opposed to liking them. Personally, I don't like the guy's views at all, but I do think he should be free to express them. I made this point on another board but unfortunately could not find anyone else who has a similarly nuanced view. It was made out to be a case of "either with us or against us", and I think that's a false dichotomy in this case.
