What I meant was that the idea that all creatures are in competition for limited resources and that it is the fittest and most resourceful which survive, has become the ligitimation behind the march of global capital; we are tacitly sold the idea that bloody, cutthroat competition is inevitable because we must compete for limited resources and that we can do no better.
