Wow. It's not so much racist as encapsulating an attitude that was, though it still exists now, was very prevalent then. This hits a lot of nerves that are almost commonplace now, but for that time this must have been pretty radical. No one was talking, and no one talks now, about PTSD among WWII vets, or about what the War experience did to the mindsets of those who went through it and how it's affected our culture. The '60s were more radical than we might think nowadays.
Wow! So This is the Famous Episode CBS wouldn't show. It's way more violent than any of the standard T-Zone episodes. But was way Ahead of its Time, and.Indeed it is damn Good! Thanks for posting!

That was really good. They should put this one back in rotation. I'd never seen it before. Why was Arthur guilty? Because of his dad's traitor ways? I wasn't expecting him to do what he did. Crazy episode!

Crazy to invite a Jap into your home for a drink. Everybody knows they can't take their booze. Then stick a knife in their hand and before you know it all they can hear is their grandpapas shinto ghost jabbering in their ear. Ten minutes everybody's dropping like cherry blossom. Of course some of them are all right - and I'll be the first to say it. But they're best kept in their place - mowing the lawn outside.
@johnsammyanfal What a myopic view of life you have. Good thing your computer does not have Japanese input - oh my - throw it away NOW - your fingers may get burnt.
@johnsammyanfal Hey, I just wanted to tell you I got the sarcasm of your post. You encapsulated everything that was racist about the show perfectly. I thought it was funny. And I know you expected a lot of youtube viewers not to get it! Wouldn't be youtube without dumb people not to get humor! They should go outside and mow our lawns. We should all start being racist against the morons on youtube.
@johnsammyanfal I got it too. I was thinking something pretty similar myself, also sarcastically. My Dad was a WWII vet in the Pacific, and though he wasn't like this guy, he had a weird attitude towards the Japanese. The Germans he reviled because of what they did to European high culture, but the Japanese he had nothing to say about except that "we" can't understand their culture so "we" have nothing to say about it. But I digress. Just keep mowing our lawns.
There was nothing racist about this episode. The only thing racist was the white guy. But I just listened to an interview with George--he said the reason it was pulled was because of the story of the JP guy's father, which never happened. I can understand JP not wanting that story out there when it's not true, but it's not racist at all.
@mrgregkeefer100 They are all on Netflix if you have that (except season four where they were all an hour long and not as good). I just started watching them again from the beginning. They are all uniformly good.

This one has NEVER been rerun on TV; George Takei said that because it was so controversial, it only ran once. I am happy to see it here on youtube!

Besides being the first new (to me) Twilight Zone in a thousand years, it's as topical and provocative as the best of the series. Goosebumps.

Hey, it's the Twilight Zone, always weird and off the center -- a creative writers' look into something with his own twilight spin on it.
