I have a Ford Focus (2005), but it's my first car and I'm a newbie so I'm a little scared to do this myself. I'll take it to a repair center this time and try to do it myself next time.
I knew it must be under the freaking fender. The engineers at ford really have a "better idea". Thanks for the vid. I'll tell my friend to buy another can of r-134 too.
Thank you! Had to do this to my wife's 2001 zetek wagon. I have the shop book, it will show you nearly everything, including hints about the location of the valve, but nothing definate besides "take it to a professional" they really want to do this in the shop ford does.
Your vid made it easy, yup one torq screw, which I cheated and used a 4mm allen key to take out. ; )
Thanks brother, you saved me cash and my wife complaining. /cheers
Glad to see that you are using our Arctic Freeze product. Check out our Facebook page acprocold or view our youtube channel at acproidq.
We always recommend that you hold the can in the upright position and rotate between the 12:00 and 2:00 position. This way the product goes in as a gas and not a liquid. Only if the system is so low low that you need to gravity feed it do we recommend inverting the can upside down.
Great Video and thanks again for using Arctic Freeze.
@thegerman21 It's just an off-brand socket driver with one of those star bits. I can't remember off the top of my head the size of the bit but when you buy those, they usually come in sets with several different sizes so when you buy a set, there's a good chance it will have the size you need.
Dude that is a funny post... thanks Ford... the banjo... the laugh trak and the "boom" kinda sorta reminded me of of Hee-Haw. Anybody that can grow a tomato plant that big must know how to fix a car. My 2003 ZTW wagon is blowing the same temperature air when the a/c is on or off ... the compressor cycles on/off ... no signs of leaks so far. I think I'm gonna try what you did and hope... it's a bit of gamble but I could save a 100 bucks!
@Dustin322 This might go without saying, but since the Focus is pretty low to the ground (and so is the air conditioning line) what happens alot of times is someone will scrape the bottom at some point and the air condition line will get damaged, leaking the fluid out. Check the lines underneath while you're looking around. If recharging it works, but only for a day or two after, you probably have a leak.
Hmm well, at some point the Blower worked but no cold air so thats a possibility. right now the a/c button doesnt even light up or make a sound and the blowers dead. it makes me wonder if its electric or something else.
@Dustin322 Urgh - here's to hoping it's just a fuse and not something with the controls (disconnected, jammed, broken, loose, etc..) Let me know what you find.
@wornoutshoester If you are having a problem with the ac and the blower only works on 4 but the ac button doesnt light up, it is probably the fan blower resistor behind your glove box. Ford Fucus' have a notorious slight water leakage problem into the cabin air filter compartment which is pretty much right above the resistor. Part is like 15-30 bucks depending on where you buy it. A video is on youtube to show how to put it in. It should solve problem.

Hey!! I really appreciate that you posted this vid. I actually have to do this same procedure on my sister's Focus, and I had no idea where to even start, so now, it's not even an issue. Some people might think it random to post an AC recharge on Youtube, but one man's randomness is another man's treasure.
@johnandmaryandrews The can is pressurized so I'm not sure it matters but it just sort of made sense to me to hold it upside down. They do say to shake the can as it's emptying.
@alfredgi You're welcome! Alot of folks think their air conditioning is not working well and take it to a shop when this is all that really needs to be done. Easy fix.
you are awesome!

I just did this, it cost me $39.00 for all of it. The shop here wanted 250.00 with no garentee it was going to work.
