I think what should have happened being that black women do come in many shades, there should have been more than one participant to show how the makeup with colors would look like from medium to brown or to very dark therefore people could actually have something to go by on. This tutorial is nice but it needs to be a little more broader for different skin shades for a better example especially different kinds of foundations that won't make the face look shinny or pasty.
I know I am very browned skinned well darker than her however, I find that the blue and green colors do look good if you know how to wear colors. Many women believe that Brown are dark skinned women only are stuck with wearing neutral colors which is also nice but you can have fun with colors as well. Get you some good makeup, good foundation, and some makeup brushes and you are good to go. Now all you need is the perfect outfit and you are set.

the point of this tutotial is puttng makeup on a woman who is not white, the decription of dark skin is applied to her beng of african heritage not of the exact pigmentation of her own skin, darks skin relatve to the whole skin range not the skin range of people with brown skin...

I love the make up, the only difference is I wouldn't put on that bright pink lip slick.. maybe just a nude lip or my favorite rusted rose lip color.. and as of the skin problem, yeah she is caramel and I'm like a chocolate brown but those colors would also work for darker skin just try it out. certain looks may work on you and others may not its not really about your skin color but mainly on what colors you can pull off.. your face shape and eye shape factors in also.. Great job!

True she is not actually dark skinned but her complexion is dark enough to help me which is rare. I'm thankful but please recognize that this is brown skin - not dark skin. Let's be more global people.

For all you idiots on here who just ruin this vid. This girl is caramel complexion. She is of a darker shade. Anything tan and darker is considered a darker shade. The title in this vid never said ''what'' shade of brown. Absolutely ridiculous. You idiots made this vid a color thing..If she was a dark brown skin girl it would of been ''oh well she not that cute'' ''why did you have to get a ugly brown girl'' You def would of found something else wrong...so annoying!

@iamDiamondCut I highly doubt that envy is the case. I think people were expecting to see ideas for darker shades is all. Which is what i was looking for, but regardless the tutorial was wonderful and I ordered a few eye shadows from urbandecay.

What's the big deal? black is black, white is white. And different shades inbetween. She is dark skinned compared to him. What is he supposed to give her skin color a specific name. We know that she is not dark skin but to our caucasian sisters and brothers she would represent dark skin to caucasian market. Sad but True. She is a pretty girl though not to take from her beauty.
Oh yeah if she was darker they would not have applied colors like blues...they would have used golds or bronze. You all know WE can't use those colors on dark skin! lol

she is dark skinned...if youre comparing to a fair skinned person. but im pretty sure if youre typing in specifically "makeup for dark skin" you're looking, more than likely, for india.arie, brandy, whoopi goldberg type complexions...lol shes def not that. its easy...or should i say easier... to type in "makeup for etcetc" and find her complexion and lighter. i have to deliberately make sure i specify skin tones ethnicity and all those other things.

I was in a makeup class, I was the only black girl and was used as the example for dark skin. The thing is I am about Thandie Newton's color, well maybe a cross between her and Halle.
