  • Great idea! Keep the tips coming!

  • We all love the firesteel and it is probably irreplaceable in my pack. Great tip with the jute twine. I thought also if you braid enough twine into it you can save one piece of string to re-tie the igniter to the firesteel, using the rest for tinder in a survival scenario. This is a good way to put the spark and the tinder together.

  • Good point about this being a flash tinder. You'd have to work quick if this was the only tinder available, but doable : ) Great intro from FloridaAdventures

    Thanks Buddy

  • Like the multi-purpose uses of this great one!

  • Burn time?

  • How about nails polish removal? Would that help make it more waterproof and make it morel

  • So simple i feel a shame i didn't think of it myself lol awesome

  • Great tip! To keep the jute dry I wonder if you could run the twine through a small plastic hose. Something like aquarium tubing. Or dog tag chain silencer. Then seal it together with heat. Just an idea maybe?

  • Great Job bro!! Nice tip! Jute twine is a great asset.... Thanks John!!

  • Great idea, thanks

  • Excellent tip....

  • That was a great intro! And a very good Tip Of The Week yet again. A real good idea there. I'll be putting this one to use for sure.

  • What a great tip !

  • What an intro, going to check those guys out. Great tip man, another way to give your gear tow jobs while in the out door. Keep them coming brother......

  • Great tip John and one I never thought of. I'm always looking for something stronger like the nylon cording but in reality, you really don't need it as it easy to replace when/if needed. Can't beat having ready tender. Again, great tip.

  • John another great tip, thank you, Peace, MD

  • Probably would be a good idea to carry that ball of twine in a ziplock in a bug out bag?

  • Nice tip John. I have one Iconnected to a long piece of paracord and larks head it to a pant loop that way It wnt get lost if it would fall out of my pocket . It's long enough I can strike it with out untying

  • I gotta say... I love this series, John.

  • :o) funny intro!

ps: if you carry petroleum jelly separately than you can always coat it when you want to use it. (:

  • Really great job on the "TOTW" videos...I really enjoy watching them and learn something new each time. 2 thumbs up from me :)

  • Loving the tip of the week series!!!!

  • Another great tip!

  • Great tip! You could also attach a small trimmed piece of "fatwood"and attach it to the fire steel cord.

  • Yup! I will be making some of those. Thanks for another awesome tip.

  • Awesome intro!

Great tip! Never thought of making a lanyard out of jute twine. Using a lighter for the frayed pieces, sweet idea!

Great work awesome tips and web site!!

  • @2kargarage1 Thanks Brother! Yeah, using a lighter to help make something for a fire steel was kind of ironic, eh? lol.

Thanks again for everything Nick :-)

  • Another great video! That jute sure caught a spark fast. Thanks for sharing!

  • @CrypticCRICKET Thanks my friend! Yeah, that stuff sure goes up fast... almost too fast! Haha ;-)

    Take care!

  • Hey John thats a nice little tip. It's pretty cool how in the old books and magizines we find and learn usefull skills. I like to read old Popular Mechanics mags and such. Back in the day people were always self sufficient with a can do attitude.

  • @houseoffire72 Thanks Brother. I know what you mean man, and I couldn't agree more. I remember reading through my dad's copies of Outdoor Life and Field And Stream when I was a kid... loved those old magazines!

  • Do a cobra weave with the twine an you'd have 3x's as much tinder

  • @redwoodfox Definitely
