  • I would say 3, but I can't tell if I should get it or just stick with a ts-808

  • The v4 sounds more compressed than the others.

  • I can't believe they would make 4 versions of this

Pedal and make them all White they should of gone Multi Colors,

How s the Kitty by the way !!

  • v1 and v4 are more overdrive....v2 and v3 are more distortion

  • There must be something different about the volume pot in v4 than the rest. Just needs a bit higher volume setting compared to the other three. I have v4 and it sounds great. I have noticed this correlation with the other versions, and this video confirms it.

  • @Shiphopster i belive version 4 is an audio taper while the others are linear.....or the other way around. i forget which one i read.

  • I wanted to hear more Badlands dude.

  • wow 4 sounds so bad... amazing. You saved me from a bad purchase. What a difference! thanks brother

  • @JMLdesigns i thought 4 sounded the best actually. it only sounded not as goo when the volumes were lower. v4 has a different taper so setting them all the same wont actually give you the same volume

  • Out of ALL the OD pedals, which one sounds like an over driven amp? Tube Screamers add their own flavor, not looking for that. Leaning toward OCD, Maxon VOP-9 or Pigtronix. Any suggestions? Thanks for all the stuff you do!!!

  • @Billydr7 blues driver?

  • 2 and 3 have more gain

  • I vote for V3, I have V4 and love. But, I might buy V3 someday

  • @motokev Im right there with you...the V3 just has a little more bite and presence without sound harsh...the v4 sounds better when the volume is boosted.

  • This is great, THANKS>

What would make it even better is to re-do it, running them at 18v. (using a Voodoo Labs PP2+) The OCD is infinitely better at 18v.

  • I own a v.3, but my friend has a v.2 and I enjoy the tone more

  • i cant decide between 2 and 3 :/

  • I prefer #1

  • I think I like v4 most

  • 3 is the loudest but doesn't have the articulation of V4. I'd rather have less volume and more clarity. There's 2 cents for ya.

  • I like number 3 the best.

  • Is it okay to not like any of them?

  • 4 OCD's ??!! You don't need 4 of them! Gimme one!

  • whichever you dont like, give it to me.

  • versions 2 and 3 suck

  • @mtaygoldin version 2 is the best are you crazy

  • JACK BLACK!!

  • my favorite pedal, i have ver. 4 sounds soooo sweat with my victoria golden melody

  • 3 sounded like the best

  • hey gearman i have a barber burn unit do a demo for that one i cant seem to figure it out

  • number 3 is on fire, but no two are alike anyway

  • Though I still love it like it was my own child, while watching this video, I was punching myself in the balls for dropping the money on the v4...initially. When he rolled up the volume and turned down the gain, I was punching myself in the nose for punching myself in the balls. I use my OCD mostly as a clean boost anyway, and in my opinion, it sounds the best of the four.

  • I LOVE BADLANDS!

  • I just came up on V1 and love it... sounds great through my AC30... However the 3 in this video really has got some balls! 1 and 3 for me all day.

  • That clip is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¨¨¨¨¨¨ Buy a Mesa Boogie rectifier amp choose channel 2 and set the proper settings and you do not need all those overdrive pedals. Cause they do not keep up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • number 3. i have it!

  • If there's one thing I've learned about pedals, it's that their true character is never fully represented through Youtube vids.

  • version 3

  • Great videos man-dude!!!!!! Wich band is playing at the beginning of the vid?

  • Man. Version 4 sounds bad. Such a loss in dynamics/volume/tone. For blues I think the first or second. I play higher gain music...I'd have to go with 2 or 3.

  • Anyone here feels that V2 is more to distortion grounds ?

    Way high gain.

V3 has lots of feedback.. V4 slightly lesser with lesser dynamics too.

V1 is just way too quiet,

    So ultimately WHICH?!?!?!

  • ok..you want the ultimate OCD.. get version 4, and remove the added diode in the clipping section..it's easy.it's the only part that has glue on it..

    wow..

  • This is virgin 1, this is virgin 2... xD

  • why did the fourth one have a red light wile the others had blue?

I think 2 and 4 sound the best though.

Keep it up GMD, i love finding out new pedals and tricks from you, thanks man!

  • I dig 12v on the Fat Boost and the v4, the Fat Boost did not like 18v bad hum. Fulltones have problems with power supplies, big time, I have to isolate them with warts even the BBE gets hum on some of them.

    Where is TONE CAT???

  • Would you do the same demo using an 18v power adapter.? I know v1.4 will handle it but not sure about the others. I hear they sound much different on 18v.

  • I just bought v4. At the time, I did not know there were different versions. I am happy with v4. I also love the 3PDT true bypass switch. My old vintage TS-808 was sucking tone out of my signal and I didn't even know it until I hooked up the OCD. I thought it was making my amps louder when it was off but it was just the best true bypass ever.

  • v3 - loudest out of the 4, fuller, slightly warmer

v4 - full sounding but quietest out of the 4

*like always, it depends on what other gear you're using, how all of your gear complements/works against each other, and what sound you're looking for.

  • Version 2 or 3.

  • @bfv102290 - i agree with you - these sound most "open". I think i like 3 slightly more than 2. What's wrong with 4 - to me it sounds compressed and flat, less dynamics. Thanks for the never-ending demos Gearmandude!

  • @bfv102290 i Agree version 2 or 3

    4 sounds close and anonimous

  • I prefer the version 1, then 3, 2, 4.

  • Version 4 sucks hind tit! I don't care what anyone else says.

But, as always, you did a killer straight up review.

    Thanks GMD!

  • All diff versions can be good for whatever you do. I prefer 3 with an 18v wall wart for MORE volume control that you all seem to have a prob with. More power = more control. Sounds amazing.

  • They are all the same except 4 which is thinner and quieter.

  • i wish he wouldve keep the blue led though

  • version 3 is great i have it but its volume is too sensitive and sometimes unmanageable, either too loud or too soft version 4 i have now and its more refined and is able to get better pick sensitive tones, 4 is actually the best fuller has made yet.

  • I lied 3 sounds the best

  • Number 2 sounds the best to me

  • If you took each one (by itself) and played one at different live shows there's no way you would tell the difference between them.

  • @StratmanSixtyNine i agree with you. 2 andv3 sound the best to me

  • 3 definitely has the most diversity but the v4 has the volume taper and its more refined than the v3, and the 2 sound alot like the v4.

  • you're a pedal-stompin' PRO!!! you never missed a beat while switching back & forth... V.2 sounds best... V.1 & 3 sound good as well... the V.4 sounds downright crappy... i was considering one of these... thanks to your demo, i've decided my treble booster is all i need. there's nothing terribly special about these OCDs despite the opinions of MANY others.

  • thx for the demos...been shopn for these... try not to let them clip your inputs

    peace

    blake beard

  • v1 sounded the most accurate compared to the clean signal, v2 was bigger, v3 was bigger still with more sustain at the expense of sensitivity. v4 sounded thinner with more edge in the high mids, edgier attack, and less high end. I like 2, 3, 1 and 4 last.

  • 3 wins!

  • Don't let volume mess with your mind. I demoed, and demoed, and the 4 was the cleanest. The volume is lower at the middle position, but this is about tone, not volume. Your mileage may vary, but for my buck, 4 won. At least it went home with me.

  • sorry, but version 4 sucks . too thin .

    v2 and 3 sounds bigger

  • After he balanced the volume on the V4, it sounded the clearest and the most touch sensitive of all. The new volume taper is actually a good thing on V4, its more usable.

  • jack black?!

  • 2 was the best. then 4

  • don't know why .. i got the V4 really damn like it.. but if i look and hear at this is seems the volume is pretty lower (oh wel it's noticeble ) than the others .. not that that really matters cuz you can just take the volume higher but i'm wondering why they made it that way ..

  • 3 2 1 4 in order of awesomeness.

  • my 70's "mutt" strat + OCD= heaven

can't wait to get one for Christmas.... played this pedal so much in GC

  • I liked 2 and 3 the most. They sounded very similar to me

  • v4 has the most refined sound of the group

  • 3 as well. Good bite!

  • You guys really liked V3 the most?

I though 3 was the worst.

    To me it's 2. 4. 1. an 3 shouldn't even exist.

  • Starting this vid with some Jake E Lee Badlands??? Very tasteful

  • well, being silent doesn't make the v4 the worst one. If you think so you seem to lose in the loudness war =]

  • I think you have the box switched around on number 2, or is it without the OCD writing on the front?

  • like they used to say, 3 is the magic number!

  • sorry , it is more like 3,, 1 ,, 2,, 4 .

  • WOW 3 is the best , 2 is next , one there after , and 4 is last . fulltone pedals , they all suck in general .

  • I own a V4 that sounds very full by comparison. I will admit that I tried a few at my local GC when I bought it and there were differences despite them all being the same pedal. I of course left with the highest gain one.

  • They changed or "modified" the Volume pot on 4, i think with a bit more Volume it would sound as good, i have one myself and i like it fine.

  • germandude, Where did you get all of the different versions please.

  • I dont think he will respond until you get his name right. gear, mann, dude.

  • NICE!!! I just bought them all along the way, as they came out with different versions...some on ebay, some on TGP, some brand new...they're out there....

    ROCK ON!

    GMD

  • Thanks ShameofaNation, my bad typing. I caught it after the fact!!

  • WHAT'S UP W/ 4!!!!

  • I have version 3, run with an 18watt and Les Paul. I liked HP mode at first but, as I increased volume. I found it too much. The louder I play, I found that LP mode was more transparent and less harsh. So, When I'm clightly cranked I run on LP all the time now.

  • glad to know my v4 wasnt the only one that sounded weaker than the rest. Still disappointing but good to know.

  • Thanks a lot, I like 3 the most. 4 is rubbish.

I'm actually going to buy a fulltone OCD I better watch out ...

  • 4 sounds weak in comparison

  • 3 ftw

  • damn its almost like its 4 different pedals in the same wrapping

  • where could i buy version 3

  • 1 or 3

  • 1 is it for me! Retains the guitar tone the best..

  • NO.3 IS GREAT!!!~

    SOUND WILD...

    good comparing

  • i like 3

  • 2 and 3 are the best

  • Great comparisons! However!.........whenever you compare pedals, I would for SURE have unity Volume. Sometime people percieve the volume increase as better, worse or whatever. I think this gives the listener much better objectivity when listening to the comparisons. But good job.......Dude.

  • and the winner is number 2!!!!!!!!!

  • hehehe ITS true is JAck Black !!!! SCHOOL OF ROOOOCK!!!

  • whats that opening song??

  • you sound and talk a bit like jack black, good demo by the way.

  • 4 is the best, my homemade DIY OCD sounds more like 1 and 2, i like that more vintage "tube-like" overdrive sound;) anyway all versions rock, I think V3 is not my taste with the lots of mids.

  • I love 3!!, why is it that 4 has such a low output??¿¿, which number is related with the version one finds in Musiciansfriend??¿¿

    CHEERS!!!

  • V1 and V2 are the stuff of legends. V3 is too brash, too midrangey. And V4, well, those who bought one really ought to stop watching OCD shootouts like this as it can only end in heartbreak. But, I'd still be jealous, having none of the above :)

  • i love the number 2 but the 3 is my favorite.

  • 1 for rythms, 3 for soloing. I think that would be good.

  • love the irony of a man collecting all the versions of a pedal called OCD.

  • Notice how he puts them all on the same setting, uses all fulltone cabels, uses the same riffs through each one, and labels each one. This is probably the most OCD Fulltone OCD Overdrive demo I have ever seen XD

  • @Sukainami Yes agreed, I have an OCD I think it is the 2nd version I will have to check. Anyhow I have thee TS9's and like the OCd they all sound slightly different but I have A/B brand new pedals of the same type right in the showroom and still found differences. I Know sometimes manufactures use different suppliers of parts for the same models. In adddition simple things like solder points and even jacks matter. Having said that I love the OCD and want to get the RTO version.

  • that was funny as sh*t misterdrumdudeman!

  • Cool videos Gearmanndude. Out of curiosity, if I bought one of your pedals and if you autographed it for me, what would the initials be? ;-)

  • you're one of the luckiest dude under the sun...owning these gems!! WOOW!!!!

  • my favorite was 1, 2, 3, and 4.

  • hey can u do some demos using a already dirty amp using the pedals as a gain boost

  • I had them all and liked V1 the best. Don't get it why Fuller messed with the original design. Freom there it went worse with every new version - kind of like Microsoft ;-)

  • haha i loved it jack black

  • Yeah, V4 sounded dead. The sound actually improved when it was switched off! I had V4 and quickly sold it on eBay! I got V3 and love it. I also think V3 sounded the best in your DEMO except for the feedback prob., which mine doesn't have. Good work as always!

  • Comment removed

  • v4 is a big NO.

  • 2 forever

  • I liked 1 and 2 the most.

  • how do you afford all these things???

  • just how he afforded those snake skin boots!

  • i like number 2 the most

  • All sounded goof but for V4 ... thin and no body... this is teh latest version?

  • I like number 3, 4 sounded very thin. Great playing

  • agreed

  • you sound exatly like jack black........... but you can play guitar

  • so can jb yo thats why he is a band called tenacious d yo

  • i meant play guitar well

  • Jack Black only plays a few chords, he mainly sings.

  • show yourself you prick cock sucker! lol

  • I'm choosing version #1.

  • 4 sounded lame in most cases...I'll take #2.

  • Four OCD pedals and a Badlands intro....amazing! Thanks for the demo. I have #2. I always use it (in the few posted vids I have). Badlands!!!! I have to dig that out again.

  • seemed like the #4 had more of a Brittish tone to it than the others-seemed to think 1&2 sounded pretty similar. Very nice demo-thanks

  • v.4 has an "improved" volume knob so it is quieter than other versions of OCD. My teacher and I compared v.3 & 4 and they do sound different, but the difference is less if you turn up the v.4 volume.

  • What song is that in the intro?

  • the band is badlands dont remember song name

  • you're not the same eric frisch who played for Neil ZaZa, are ya?

  • no you told me he was an ass anyway! haha

  • HIGHWIRE...badlands....Jake E Lee rules

    GMD

  • Thanks GMD and Ericfrisch for the info-I need to find that cd. GMD, as always, keep up the good work.

  • Number 2 is number 1 for me, 3rd is second because it is a little brighter sounding.

  • Thats strange is lower in volume, Well In any case pretty sweet pedal.

  • v.4 is weeeeeeek

  • Sweet dude.
