@NCCountryBoy20 and let me guess you drive some thing along the lines of an f150 or 250 or perhaps something dodge related... that particular truck will compete just as well with any of said trucks when modified to meet the same specs as far as lift kits, tires and axles go... majority of the time those trucks are family/toy haulers, id like to see any of those above mentioned vehicles carry 7 passengers all their gear plus a 10,000lbs trailer... burban forever!!
@manitoulin001 I drive a Bronco that would eat that suburban alive. Yes i realized suburbans usually are good trucks. Me and my cousin built one. The big wheels what look like XD's i might be wrong and small side wall of the tires screams mall crawler. If you gonna take a truck in the mud set it up to go in the mud.
@NCCountryBoy20 i agree the wheels are alittle small but in most peoples cases its a side hobby or something that they only do once in a while so they either dont have the money to fork out for big tires and lift kit/axles that allow for monster tires that you are talking about that would be appropriate for what they are doing... not to mention many people use their every day driver as their off roader so they dont want to put on lift kits and monster tires and go to work every day...
@manitoulin001 my off roader is my daily driver and it took me a year to get it to the point it is now 6in lift and 35 in tires, stock axles still savin for those. I drive mine everyday back and forth to school and work. I didn't say the tires had to be monster tires as you put it again mine only has 35s.
@spaghetticat3 ONCE AGAIN I CAN POST SOME OTHER SHIT ON HERE THAT WILL MAKE UR SHIT LOOK WEAK. TRY A GMC TOPKICK C4500. SAY SOMETHIN... AND TRY GETTING A REAL JOB AND ACTUALLY WORKING, YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO AFFORD SOMETHING BADASS... THANK YOU..
Couple things wrong, To much wieght to the vehicle. There just isnt enough side wall on the tires to be grabbing the mud. Down size the rims and get the bigger tires. The toyo M/T's are great tires. I have toyo H/T's and Toyo M/T's and BFG A/T's All are great tires. Its all about knowing what goes with what and when.
That Suburban is super nice! I was not so sure about the 22" wheels, while I was reading some of the comments below, but once I saw the entire rig I was thoroughly impressed! Nice job on the truck, bro.
i just took my stock burban today for the first time. there was solid ice. underneath 3-4 foot deep of water and mud. i drove over it slowly in 2wd breaking it up then got into 3-4 feet deep of mud really watery with 1-2 foot big ice chunks. i cant believe how good it went. only bad thing was i got my brake line broken i think due to a huge ice chunk, but it was really rusty and was expected to break soon. man, i love it. my first time, im excited.
@theking12089 Probably a 9 or 12 thousand pound warn. i have a 9000xdi warn on the front of my yukon and it pulls quite well. the way you determine the size of the winch you need though is to take the gross weight of your vehicle plus half and thats the min size winch you need.
Suburbans really arent very good mud trucks. They are way too heavy. Even with the largest engine package. They arent good for crawling ether. The chevy blazer is the best. Better milage, better power/weight ratio, and the superior truck for mudding and offroading in general.
I think that jeep should of been back just a little bit more, there is a 100' of cable of that winch pick your pull out spot a little better next time
the suburban is a heavy ass vehical.. not a good wheeln vehical.. but i would still love to own one... i wonder why chevy nvr made em with a duramax diesal...
they used to make the tahoe with a diesel in it up until about 95 i think they made that diesel suburbans that long too but they dont anymore. I believe that they will be coming out with a diesel suburban next year though.
i gotcha.they were still sweet though. i really didnt even know what they had in them except that they were diesel. i can't wait to see the 2010 diesel burb.
The last year that I know for sure that you could get a diesel in a Suburban was in 1999, when they went to the curvy body style in 200 and on, they stopped offering the diesel in the Suburban. Why I don't know.
@Chrisman622 Funny, because my 97 burb weighs in at 5800 lbs with an empty tank of gas and no driver. Add both and it's just over 6,000. And my father's 2005 silverado weighs in at 5200 lbs. The major difference there is the fact that I carry a 3rd row seat, glass, two doors, and a roof in the back.
@FFLITMiko Well good enough, my friend does have 35" tires and a 6 in lift but i dont think it adds THAT much weight, but that and the newer trucks are made from a lighter and weaker material. My 92 F-150 flare side (fiberglass short bed) weighs in at 6,000lbs so you cant use weight as an excuse for this guy lol. Poor offroad driving perhaps
Notice the Jeep is tied off to the tree behind it??? Otherwise that would have never happened!
