jasonmit , everybody in the world know that the sample was mixed by the beastie boys but every rapper in the world use sample by other rappers and that's what make rap the music of the streets
Am i the only one who noticed this sounds way too much like B-Boy Bouillabaisse by the Beastie Boys on their album Paul's Boutique? Really, check it out! It starts at 2 minutes, 19 seconds.
@jasonmit It does not SOUND it, it IS it! Neither Vanilla Ice nor The Beastie Boys wrote the riff, they both sampled it from an earlier song. They both sampled it from an earlier song. I am surprised you did not put 2 and 2 together here.
@1980ddaly ----Stop That Train is by Keith and Tex, it's Jamaican, it's from 1967. It's been sampled, rapped over, and otherwise recycled in Jamaica pretty much ever since the original "riddim" was laid down in the 60s.
i think ice fell out because he could actually rap and make good music and dance, but at the same time he was doin that, the black folks could not do that and rap is a african american thing, but wait how is m m doin it i like ice better than m&m
@walker7261981 cos m&m did it 20 years later. Mindsets do change a lot within that time. eg. 20 years ago ameicans wouldve been affronted at the idea of a black president- wait THE WHOLE WORLD!
@walker7261981 i AGREE WITH YOU. vANILLA ICE PUT THE NOTION THAT WHITE BOYS CANT RAP AND DANCE TO SLEEP. IM A BLACK WOMAN BTW AND I STILL FEEL ICE IS AS HOT AS HE WAS 20 YEARS AGO, NOT EVEN SOME BONAFIDE BLACK RAPPERS CAN COMPETE.
@spiritofmysoul Yep, we're living in the era of mediocrity. Art and creativity moved out when we let fear into our hearts. Thank you, US government, for staging the attacks on your civilians on 9/11. Your plan to turn us all into drones succeeded... Or did it? Thing is, we're all mostly on the same boat and waking up; you won't be able to keep us with the illusion that we're separate for much longer... Then, there's going to be a high cost to pay for your crimes. Judgment will be upon you soon!
@phubans I feel sorry for him because of all of his albums never got great reception or even great in general. Maybe he just likes making music the way he wants to, no wonder he isn't mainstream anymore.
@spiritofmysoul well..i agree with wut ur saying but first of all...don't ever dis Nickelback.. and 2nd, i think when the terrorist attack happened we all just lost sight of everything and how good music was supposed to sound. Like we were all nervous or somthing, no alot of rap is shit and rock and roll has changed so much it's hard to find a really good band anymore..
@iMuRdEReDHeLL0KiTTY Nickelback sucks, thats right I just dissed them. 9/11 had nothing to do with todays crappy music. Music goes through stages much like everything else in life, it has it's good times and it has it shitty times. Your name lies too, hellokitty is still alive I just seen it at hot topic.
I don't get what you're so stirred up about, its an opinion in the end of the day, its my opinion that this is better than other bands such as Eminem or Justin Bieber, just because I have a different opinion is no reason to call me or anyone else retarded (yes it is spelled as retarded, what are you? russian?).
this poor man is one of the worst cases of no self esteem ever... fabricating his past is nothing... now adays he's hopelessly enslaved by the opinions of others, trying way to hard to be someone else. the jesus of posers
man i sure i had hes style & dance moves, between him & mc hammer they were the FUCKING BOMBS...go white boy go white boy go vanilla ice yup yup....vanillaice4life\m/(>_<)\m/!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love the shit out of 3rd bass. they slammed vanilla ice with their hit "pop goes the weasel". the irony is that they sampled the SHIT out of songs themselves. i mean, who really gives a fcku. if you like the music, then it's all good. he was outed by some piece of shit black reporter who investigated his biography. why? who the fcku cares whether he has "street creds"? there are black rap artists who are just as "fake" as vanilla ice was but nothing seems to be made of those guys.
i was into Vanilla Ice when i was about 10 and saw him live. It is still one of the best shows i have ever seen. Also if it wasnt for him i wouldnt have started listening to Snoop then Cypress Hill, then everything other rap record that has come since.
May be a little silly now but it wasn't back then. If you're old enough...you rocked it. Don't lie. Artists have been sampling other artists tracks way before Ice.
Ice was a bad-ass.. I remember when i was 10 i got his album in 1990 (or maybe 91) and this shit was fresh. We used to peg our pants back then, if you didnt have a pair of Jordan-10s you where a fag, or a poor fuck. I had a pair of vision street wear 1's, you didnt wear socks back then.. no matter who you where. You where either a skater or a rapper. If you wherent one of those you were a fuckin nerd.
This was always my favorite Ice song, He was the first Highly listenend to White rapper, no matter what people say he was the shit when I was 15. He deserves more credit then he got!
The man deserved better production values out of his videos. Ice Ice Baby was made for $8000; I imagine this one was even less. Where did all the money go that he was making?
Perfect voice and lyrics beat etc but the music videos were like done with one camera. Very very low budget. Still though, Vanilla Ice remains one of my favourites.

This guy is such a joke!!!! He stole riffs, faked street cred. He needs to go home and try to forget music. And I dont buy his hallow appology........
I never understood why everybody gave him a hard time for using samples from other songs. Almost 85% of the hip hop/ rap artist in todays music use old 80's music samples. I mean i am not really defending Ice because his stuff is kinda silly, but why give him a hard time. 50 cent has used bits from other songs, Biz, Rehina, Will Smith, Flo Rida, and tons of others
I don't think it was the sampling, which a lot of people do as you said before, as much as it was HOW he was sampling. He didn't give ANY credit at all to the original artists, and passed it off entirely as his own work and even denied that he sampled with his "one note" argument.
Plus, people tend not to like horribly subpar white rappers mutilating kickass songs.
@hollisterstudd13 I think people gave him shit for trying to steal the samples without paying for them, like he tried to do with Queen's track. It's not the sampling, which is cool, it's the theft of intellectual property that aint cool!

Uh, no.. Paul's Boutique came out in 89, this came out in 90. I think they all sampled the same person, but I'm not sure. The B-boys sampled "Save the World," and "Draw Your Brakes" on their "Stop That Train," track. May have been the same samples with Ice.
This should have been the third single instead of "I Love You". That song completely turned him into a joke and nobody took him seriously at all after that.
As if he hadn't already tried to remix "I Love You" when they put it out as a single by having labelmates, the R&B group Riff, sing background vocals.
didnt dr dre produce this album, then vanilla got divorced and put weight on ,and did two good albums then just relased shit after that,im sure this is him.
Ahh naw, the starter jackets hahahaha ah man. Im have flashbacks now. I remember people use to get jumped, beat down, and robbed for those coats. I didnt give a shit tho, I HAD to have one. I had a red UNLV jacket with the matching hat..I thought I was the shit back then. You couldnt tell me nothing.
Everybody yapping about this being the best hip hop album. Different strokes for different folks man. "The best" is in the ears of the listener. Thats like asking whats the best movie ever made
Dont be rediculous, they were proud to be a part of it and probably are now.Vanilla Started rap music.Without ice it wouldnt have been so popular and acceptable.he paved the way!

As if he hadn't already tried to remix "I Love You" when they put it out as a single by having labelmates, the R&B group Riff, sing background vocals.

Yeah, he did well to sell all those albums (And somebody was buying them!) BUT we're missing the main point; This man knew how to steal/use a sample.
Oh, man who remembers the "feud" between him and M.C Hammer??
McKman76 3 years ago
whats the difference?? most hip hop songs that are hits use samples...even like mc hammer. why you throwing vanilla ice under the bus?

I wonder if the background dancers deny they were ever in this video? I'm sure this is one job they exclude in their resumes.
