I still have the letter from Mother Osmond, it is my most cherished possession to have survived fire and flood over the last 15 years.
Needless to say because this song is so special to Merrill sheet music was not made available through them, so I had to sing it accapella as I knelt to ask my girl for her hand.
When I was planning to pop the question to my girl, I wrote to the Osmonds hoping to buy the sheet music to the song.
Mother Osmond responded to my request and told me the story behind the song. Merrill wrote this song for his Fiance' and arranged for it to be played for them on the radio (remember those days?) for the first time as they drove to the temple, to be sealed for time and eternity.
@justinsayne WOW how weird. I wonder if Mother Osmond had a better memory than Wayne (I'd say it's likely lolol). I just watched a clip of a Brothers GT in Vegas fairlly recently where Donny surprised them on stage. They discussed this song. Wayne told a story when he was in the recording studio & Alan (he did a great Alan imitation) had the music & told him they needed lyrics to this song and only had 20 min left-said he wrote it in 15. U sure maybe it wasn't Wayne that wrote it 4 Kathy?
