  • that was really good

  • Daniel Rossin's music will get you higher than any drug. This is incredible.

  • those are the proper chords!

  • Love him :-)

  • i love this band and grizzly bear, is so amazing

  • too walllkk with yoOUUUr bags, down to the docks, and siiiitt in theeaeaaae grass, right, in your spoott, IN EARRRR PARRRRRRRKKK

  • these are the kind of bands that sound so much better live.

  • I'm not going to write a "missed the like button" comment, but I would like to know how 33 people sincerely disliked this...

  • @DaRellReeves They got lost in Ear Park.

  • His voice is incredible

  • God I love this man

  • "in ear park, it's like a park in your eaaar"

  • FANTASTIC

  • I must be a quarter of the views on here haha.

  • @flibberjar Then I think I make up the other three quarters!

  • 3:01 = crescendo...LOVE IT

  • I've been told he is playing clean, but the second guitar (not Daniels) Is he using an effect when he plays those higher notes?

  • @atmosmurs He's most likely using a Digitech Whammy pedal, which can bring the guitar notes up 1-2 octaves and down 1-2 octaves. Awesome use of it, if you ask me.

  • @MisterSteeve whammy pedals sound much harsher..

  • @atmosmurs probably an EHX HOG

  • I knew I recognised his voice from somewhere! Grizzly Bear!

That just made my life a whole lot better.

  • Rossen is just one hell of a composer

  • @createanomaly he's educated in music. i believe he majored in music at a university.

  • @wakinglifeinc I thought he majored in linguistics but I would not be a bit surprised if he did study music

  • sounds like the other guitarist is using an Electro-harmonix POG

  • this song is amazing. a song about his fathers death.

  • Aww i wanted to see him play the awesome flamenco part...

  • Gah! Where can I find an mp3 of this?

  • fuck star power, leave that to gaga n freinds

  • 5************************

  • Daniel Rossin's sense of chord structure and melody is one of the most unique and surreal in music today.,

Not just this track...but his reworking of "Deep Blue Sea" or "Sailing By Night", there's so many examples...it's vaguely vaudevillian, whimsically yesteryear yet somehow comes out of with one foot in modernity as well.

Why the fuck isn't this guy a legend in indie rock yet? I guess being a humble soft spoken plain-dressed guy really kills your star power, even if you're brilliant.

  • @slitheringinterstate I'm fine with where he's at, it's probably only helping his music along. and he already is a legend in my mind. I don't see anything wrong with where he's at, those who know his music understand his brilliance, and that's as much as I would care about if I were him!

  • @slitheringinterstate he definitely gets the credit he deserves, at least within indie circles.

  • @slitheringinterstate I have named it "Baroque Pop" much in the same line as Rufus Wainwright and very few others. The chords he uses are very much the same as I used in all my writings when first teaching myself to play music on guitar cuz it was easier to sing with that than my piano....i just made up chords, jamming my fingers together in weird shapes...i saw the music in shapes and heard what i wanted in my head. i think he may do the same.just a thought.very keen of you to spot this as well

  • AHHH my ears. his voice is like GOD LOL. i get goosebumps when he screams or his voice is louder. <3 LOVE it 5 stars **********************

  • very nice-

like the way the guitars parts interact-

never heard of these guys before but again, I am finding artistic gems on youtube-

    bravo

  • I love the acoustic guitar! AWESOME sound!

  • oh my god daniel rossen is in this band haha im a grizzly bear fan and i didnt know this :)

  • I agree this is a better version, despite the album version being pretty lovely too!

  • Sounds even better acoustic. I wish they(eagles/bears) would put an acoustic album out.

  • Somehow I can imagine this tune being on the Led Zeppelin 3 album. Don't know who this guy is but it's like he trawls the ether picking up songs that other artists from the past 30 years have missed. Is that a good thing? LOL

  • @lll991 He also plays in a band called Grizzly Bear. They are the best thing around in a long time.

  • @lll991 His name's Dan Rossen, and he's one of my favorite musicians.

  • Jimmy Page didn't grow up a jazz guitarist.

If only Led Zeppelin used diminished and 6th chords and other stuff that actually makes pop music interesting...

  • Listen to the track "Friends" on Led Zeppelin 3. If those aren't diminshed and 6th chords then something that sounds very similar - the sound that says one thing, but means another. "Bron-y-aur" also has something like diminshed chords, though in a differenet context than In Ear Park and "That's the Way" also something like 6th chords - all from Led Zeppelin 3. As a musician, what other ways do you tink could Page have made those sounds?

  • dude there just in Open C theres nothing unique about those led zeppelin songs, this song here is unique and different.

  • Can't stop listening to this version. Does anyone know if it's downloadable?

  • @moondog202001

    Ever heard of Youtube downloader??

    It will do the work:)

  • Awesome, thanks!

  • this is beautiful

  • Comment removed

  • weirdly i prefer this version

very pure without any arrangement (though they're great), acoustics are just appropriate and his voice sounds very honest compared with the studio version

  • dan rossen is SO CUTE and this song/video are SO AMAZING.

  • very few songs get to me like this one does. i wish i could create something that powerful. love dan.

  • I love this version of the song. I like it much better than the version on the album. This just has a more focused and mysterious quality. Thanks for posting.

  • hay man!!! come to mexico!!!

    greetings from mexico city!!!

  • BHANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the best songs ever written. I'm so glad I saw this video.

  • i practically want to implode with the gravity generated by my love for this recording.

  • woah woah woha.... This guy is from Grizzly Bear isn't he? I thought he was because of seeing the vintage instruments and his short chin.. But then when he sang I knew it was him... I dont know his name but he sings "while you wait for the other" and this song is the same folk style and everything.

Thatd be insane if that wasn't him.... Whats he doing with another band? Im itching for a wiki visit

  • its him, Daniel Rossen

  • yeah it's him. dan rossen. good eye.

  • lol at the end, Daniel is like "hmm, that wasn't bad"

  • heard this sampled on NPR, Morning Edition June 17, 09. had to follow up. you never know what they (NPR) will insert and match with a particular news story

  • his voice is beauuuuuuuuuutiful.

  • I came home after a long day of work and sat down at my computer with a glass of red wine. The warmth of the wine spread through my body getting all mixed in with this song.

  • How much did you drink?

  • the heart wants what the heart wants.

  • i love this song.

  • Perfection.

  • Nice tune - Best thing about this session is the mix, listen with cans.

  • it's ordinary quality, cans just makes the 64kbps obvious

  • this is actually much better than the album version; there's so much noise on that.

  • whatttt nooo the album version is pure bliss

  • The tremolo adds a certain effect to it. I love both versions, but still my favorite is the album version.

  • David Bowie would be glad to make beautiful music like this.

  • Excuse me, please, i'm new to these Eagles.......

Probably a stupid question, but why the reference to David Bowie?

  • What sculpture? Do they mean Aural Sculpture from The Stranglers? Was that a "real" sculpture?

  • anyone know what guitar the other guy (not daniel rossen) is playing?

  • It's a Guild

  • the melody along with those chords is so amazing!

  • one of the best records this year. it actually really is an inear-park.

  • some weird comments here. like violent comments....

  • Kind of reminds me of Nick Drake... which is a good thing.

  • Why did someone give this guy a thumbs down? It is a little bit like Nick Drake, but different. Who cares lol.

  • awesome... that dude has a killer voice :D

  • I really liked this :)

  • Genius

  • that's what I call great new music.

May very well be the best album of 2008.

  • disagree

    great album

but In Rainbows is the best

    and guess wat

i saw the whole album live

    beat taht nukka

    lvoe this song tho

  • Anyone know what's up with Rossen's tunnings?

  • Drop D with a capo on the second fret.

  • Make that drop d flat, sorry

  • Beautiful

  • I have been waiting for this album for

3 years! Daniels brilliance is evident in how you help transform Grizzly's sound. But between Daniel and Fred, the sound is transcendent.

  • i actually like this version much much much better than the album!

  • SUPER pumped for this album.

  • god i love this song!!!!!

  • w/e freshman.... btw lunch was good eh

  • lunch was good? what was for lunch?
