The BLEVE effect refrigerates the remaining liquid as most of it escapes. It does a slow burn. Ideally, the hole should be at the bottom of a secured tank so it all comes out and volatizes. Get a tank with 2 small brass shutoffs, do a liquid transfer; second valve is the vent so it fills. Shut 'em both off, and since there's no safety, it'll blow sky high if left on a hot fire. When it rips, the latent heat will vaporise it all, and no fire heat will be wasted in making a King Kong fireball!!

I watched my friend blow up a small coleman propane tank when I was in high school. He wrapped it in a towel and soaked the towel in mineral spirits. Then he lit the towel on fire and ran a few hundred feet.

After a few minutes it started whistling and spewing a 5 foot long flame. Then the fire stopped abruptly and a split second later the sound waves hit our location. It was incredibly loud, like lightning had hit the ground close by. Very scary and powerful stuff!
