  • Very well done, all your videos are of high quality. Your restrained use of the dreaded zoom feature is especially creditable!

  • Thanks very much for your kind comments, we obviously have similar tastes as I try to avoid the zoom as much as possible, steam in the landscape is my first choice

  • Well, I'm a huge fan of the Ivo Peters school of railway photography/film, and your work certainly puts me in mind of his films.

Perhaps even worse than the 'dreaded zoom' is the 'never-ending wide angle', where the cameraman seems determined to use every millimeter of his focal length - to the point where an approaching train seems to be getting further away!

  • I think I may just retire from photography now if my work is in any way similar to the great Ivo Peters, there could be no higher compliment. I agree too re use of the wide angle.

  • What an excellent production, Austin.

You are setting a very high standard for us to match.

    Mike

  • Thanks Mike, I'm blushing now!!

  • Brilliant video yet again Austin, superbly chosen locations and camera work...5* Bob

  • Great video. I happened to be there on holiday and got the Eastbound departure from Llandudno Junction platform end.

  • Thanks David, just had a look at your videos from Saturday, very nice. Good of you to capture me in two of the shots!!

  • Beautiful shots. I was aiming to be where you were at Conway but ran out of time to get there. Much better location than I finished up with. The chap on the footpath in shot two seemed decidely unimpressed to see her passing by! Chris

  • Thanks Chris, yes just another train to him obviously.

  • Most enjoyable great first location, the light for photographers is like weather for gardeners, never quite right, we survive though

  • Thanks, as a gardener too I quite agree. We do like a bit of a grumble!

  • Saw this light engine at Crewe on her return, didnt get a video because i was quickly arriving on 40145

  • How did the 40's little trip to the Cambrian go?

  • The 40 was good, peformed brill, just uploading the first of about 45 videos, feel free to have a look :)

  • A pity the sun didn't rise in the west and set in the east, just for yesterday. A great video nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks, I know exactly what you mean, I should have learned from past experience on that route really as the sun can be a problem.

  • Thanks Steve, yes planned like a military operation (he lied !!) It was a nice day though and as you say the scenery along the coast is lovely.

  • Excellent video 5*. A nice day, good light, and well composed shots. A pleasure to watch. Thank you. Mike

  • Cheers Mike, I'm pleased you enjoyed it, it was another good day to be filming..Austin

  • Fantastic video Austin - 5* and fav. You know a few great places to view - keep up the good work!

  • Thanks very much, it had been a while since I last went to these locations and trees and bushes are gradually encroaching at Conway.

  • shes such a beast 6233!

Isn't she really due for an overhaul though?

  • The boiler certificate expires towards the end of the year so work on the overhaul will probably start soon after.

  • how long is an overhaul expected to take?

  • Depends if the cash is available and volunteers to do the work. I have heard that 6233 is in good condition so maybe not too long.
