  • Very nice =]

  • Yay it worked!!

  • When you whisper, you sound like Moss from the IT Crowd! :D

  • thanks it work

  • i cant do it :/

  • @stopmoclay this video is out of date, check my new one, I uploaded it today!

  • ...This is the exact WRONG way to scream. Screaming should never hurt and should never make you cough and it should be LOUD! When you whisper, your vocal chords push against each other and air is forced through. If you push this air through harder, you're going to create nodules on your vocal chords and you will be unable to SPEAK let alone sing or scream.

  • @theortizppls Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • @theortizppls I posted this vid 1 year ago dude. I've never messed up my vocals by screaming :) as long as keep a good balance with singing and it's all groovy :)

  • Hey, I tried this, and managed to scream quite well but was just wondering, is it normal for the back of the throat to be all tingly and tickly when doing this? :O

    Thanks.

  • @AkilahhasnolifexD at first yeah! does it make you cough and splutter a bit?

  • @TheCookieGodxD Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • Trying to scream like this is probably the worst thing you can do.

Lacks power, sounds bad, and this wears out your vocal cords.

It's fake and an easy way to get a "scream". You can do this in 5 min, to learn frys takes many months.

It's better to learn how to do frys. Screaming isn't something you learn over a night -.-

You say it's useless to use your diaphragm, you just embarrassed yourself.

Breathing is the FUCKING key to scream, without support from your diaphragm it sounds like shit.

  • @GuideMeMetal dude, it took me about 5 months aswell to learn to scream using that technique, not 5 mins. and I know I said "blah about using your diaphram" but if you looked through the previous comments you'd see that I didn't realise I was already using my diaphram and didn't know it, I've been screaming for over a year and a half now, and it doesn't lack any power.

  • @ejcottier I'm just saying that this is NOT how you should do it. Never. Ever.

So... How's your range? With this "technique" you can't change your pitch. You got one scream. Which sounds bad.

And the "over the pencil" technique is to get something called "heat", without it you can't make a fry... No matter if you're doing a low, mid or high.

Watch this: How to Scream, Screamo Scream, Scream Sing, Part III (on youtube) ....and realise this is a very bad way to scream. Period.

  • @GuideMeMetal My range is fine, the only thing I've ever struggled with are really really low death growls. If you check out my video 'Don't Tell My Street To Die' you can hear me screaming properly. And okay, I'll check out that video.

  • Comment removed

  • @ejcottier Haha mate, sorry for being such a bitch ;p I've been pissed of the past few days (personal reasons :c)

None of my comments are offensed to you, and I have to admit that your scream sounds good in your 'Escape' video.

Keep on making music mate! Drums and guitar sounds epic =)

  • @GuideMeMetal its okay dude :) I think i'm gonna do a part 2 to this video any way, I've found a better way to explain to people how I do it, not THE way, but how I do it lol. and thanks :)

  • omg i love you , Im crap at screaming ... ive tryed but it hurts my throught so i looked up more videos then i founf yours .. thanks for the help , btw any more tips ;D

  • @alisha54189 thank you :D and yess actually, try shouting a bit as you project the scream, it'll sound like total poo at first, but it makes your scream much stronger :)

  • @ejcottier Thanks forr your help , you have helped me the most ;D

  • @alisha54189 yaaaay XD btw I love your drumming vids, you're acee :D

  • @ejcottier :D ahhh awesoome , thanks , you see i think im crap xD

  • @alisha54189 Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • this vid helps like 80% of screaming. but 20% of your scream comes for thinking that you can do the scream. Doing the technique and thinking that you can do it will lead you to success!

  • @Jerv165 Agreed :)

  • @Jerv165 Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • You are gonna screw up those vocal cords of yours, use your diagphram

  • @paramore0otwilight Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This is the only video that worked for me!

  • @3laineli Mate, if you do like that... 1) You don't get any power. 2) You're fucking up yar voice. 3) In 2 years, you can't scream nor sing.

Use yar bloody diaphragm and don't push your fucking brains out ;p

Keep your throat relaxed, and keep it simple :) don't try go like grincore shit, say.. "BLLLLLLLRRWWWRRWR"... Because you will fuck up your voice.

Keep it to metalcore/deathmetal screams :)

  • @Doyouspeakdaim I do use my diaphram, just I didn't know I was at first, listen to my song Escape (click on the annotation link) and you'll hear me doing it properly.

  • @ejcottier Okay, I'm going to be honest. This is not how to scream. This is how you destroy your vocal chords.

What you're trying to do is a fry scream, and it's not learned this way.

Make a hum, and slow it down, you get a crackling sound. THAT is how you learn to scream. Not like this.

You mention a pen, and the reason you use the "over the pencil" method is because you're learning "heat". You sing with an overtone, if you don't do this it sounds like shit and you can't be heard live.

  • my problem is that whenever i scream it always comes out quiet and when i really try to scream loud it just sounds all crackly and raspy it doesnt hurt my throat but i just feel like im doing something wrong any tips?

  • @rainbowchickenfish I know what you mean, I've heard people do it before at college lol. But if you try and learn this technique you shouldn't have that problem. And legendary username btw hahaa XD

  • @rainbowchickenfish Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • Holy shit dude, I've been trying to figure out how to scream for months, watching all these videos on how to do it and all that. But then I watched (or listened) to your video once, and I got the technique straight away, sobthanks for that

  • @coolcabs10 you're welcome dude :)

  • @coolcabs10 Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • @oscar2034 Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • @coolnoftoday Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • yh dude, doing it like this messes up vocal chords, ur not ment to get coughs or sore throats, ive got zen of screamin dvd and she trains bullet for my valentine, and stuff like tht

  • @MrJonesy236 Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • It still hurts. That's my problem. I know how to scream, I just don't know how to make it not hurt

  • @HeadbangerFromHell14 Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • you're sooo ddamagiiiinnnnggg your vocal chords!!

  • @glie3 Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • thanks this should help

  • @hungryazhn Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • ACTUALLY EVERYONE, Ejcottier Us Right, Learn Like This, AND USE your diaphram at the same time. sounds good and wont damage yur vocal cords, (all you have to do is exactly what Ejcottier is doing and put a little "stomach muscle into it, (: Great Vid Dude!

  • @ExileCU Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • thank you a lot man! :D

  • @violentrockz Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • That's what I said, the way I do it doesn't hurt my throat.

  • @ejcottier i wanna know howto screamo to where it doesnt hurt

  • @AllYaunna Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • This does fuck up your vocal chords

  • you know that way of screaming is a good idea but it ruins ur vocals

  • It hasn't ruined mine, only thing I've noticed is I can't do it too much in a short space of time otherwise I temporarily lose the ability to scream. It just comes out as a horrible straining noise.

  • @ejcottier Like other ways you can try to scream, it will damage your throat. When you force it through your throat, it can create either a node, or a blood vessel. The whole diaphragm thing is not that you use it to scream, but you use it to control breathing techniques, air control, and other related breathing practices. If you have heard of Melissa Cross, she has taught many great screamers, and she has a DVD on screaming. Hope this can raise your brow, haha.

  • @guitarfreak512 Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • xxhalo2shockxx.... ur a dumbass... u have to use your vocals or else how the fuck are you gonna make any noise?!?

  • this guy sounds like daniel radcliffe

    wingardium leviosar.

  • @CatherineContemp looool :P I only sound "posh" when I'm nervouss lol, I'm gonna do a part 2 to this vid and make it better and easier to understand, with some better examples! :)

  • @CatherineContemp Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • using your throat is bad: will mess up you vocals= surgery on throat

  • its called pigsqueal

  • Wait is this pipsqueak? i dun want dat...

  • Woops ment pigsquel

  • @AlphaBendo this isn't pigsquealing, thats when you scream inwards, this is exhale screaming.

  • UM NO. EITHER WAY, U CAN DAMAGE, SUM1 FAMOU8S ALMOST DIED FROM THIS IN 1995 :O , cut yur throat, u can slice it open, diaphram screamo exhales or, call me an idiot.

  • @ExileCU Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • @AlphaBendo noo, no pigsquealing haha :P outward screaming :P for an example click the annotation link on this video to listen to my new song, where i'm screaming in parts! :)

  • thanks! this actually helps me quit a bit. =) i understood that the basics of this vid were to get the feel of how a scream is to do it properly, not direct results examples.

so this helped me greatly. the other videos ive seen have taught me the gist of it, but not the final keys to make it work.

    thanks :)

  • @raccly17 You're welcome :D

  • @raccly17 Check out my better tutorial on my channel!

  • woaa dont hurt yourself harry potter

  • poo:L

  • @EthansGears Poo to you too ;)

  • harry potter stick to your magic please!

  • whisper scream = fail!!! learn how to actually scream. x.x

  • this isnt a whisper scream, you start off by whispering but once you have practiced enough you can project a scream not a whisper. When I scream I don't whisper, it's a scream.

  • ok sorry, no offense but this technique didnt work for shit

  • A scream is more or less this anyway. "Whisper screaming". Once you have this down, push out your stomach slighty as you breathe in, tense your stomach, then use your throat to make the scream. Thats how to use your diaphram. It takes about 2 months to get going but it's far more powerfull than the whisper.

  • using throat = bad. sorry i know this comment is two months old but i had to say it lol

  • Nasal/throat region usually. Makes perfect scratching sounds.

  • OMG it's Daniel Radcliffe!

  • huh? lol

  • Lol i just thought you sound a bit like Daniel Radcliffe. Harry Potter?

  • oh okay lol, I don't normally sound that posh, just I was nervous and trying to make it professional sounding but I go all posh when I'm nervous lol.

  • Well accually guys, if you hurt your vocals while learning, dont worry XD It took me a while on my own to learn and I did sprain my vocals about 4 times before getting it. It doesnt really matter if you hurt them or not, just dont push it like my one of my old friends did, or else you might have a problem O_O

  • dude ur a genious!! i looked at all the other vids and it didnt help, i used ur technic and it works so fucking great!! thanx so much and it doesent hurt at all when i do it!! thanks

    5*

  • Hey man this is how I scream and I've watched all the other fools try and teach it. Most suck. Although the guy who looks like a twelve year old girl does know how to inward squeal properly and the guy from NY that sounds like he's from Ga. He's got that down, but everything else these cats do is lame. You're the one these kids should listen to.
