@kiditsmaug ha ha ha will first you lose your balance then you slam down on the water get pushed down do mctwists back flips 1080s all that shit then you hit the bottom and you think it's the surface then you figure out wait thats the bottom and then you swim to the top then the next wave hits it starts again but even worse
I luv when that happens but that's why i were a leash
You have got to love days like this just for the possibility of a 0:48. I love taking off on at least one impossible bomb on days like these. It is so much fun just to bottom turn see this huge black wall stand up, fold over and get a split second view before getting totally mauled! Thanks for paddling for that wave, guys you just made my day.YYYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUU!
Possibly the slowest wave on earth. Surfed it in 2008 and again in 2009 on 6' and 10' days. The take off and the next two turns are ok but then it turns into a rolling face, white water pusher down the line lacking any verticality.
I'm new to surfing and I'm just curious about at 3:33 when he wipes out.... When you fall on huge swells like this, does the wave carry you up and over the top, basically hold your breath and go along for the ride? Or do you fall and pass through the wave? Always wondered how that works.

@milkmandan77 It is called "Ruggles" after the avenue. It is not a beach, but at the bottom of a small cliff along the Cliff Walk. It is rocky and hard to get on to, but it's where the experienced skilled (and maybe suicidal) surfers go when there are hurricane type waves.
All three of your vids,as well as Morgan Crossley's, are badass. I spent a couple hours on the cliff walk that day just amazed, the biggest and cleanest swell I ever saw on the east coast. I don't think any other place got as good a day from Bill as us. Thank's for posting, great to re-live that day. This sunday will probably not be as epic but should be pretty damn good if the forecast stays the same!!!

@jjs4you2
I will award 10,000 points for using verticality in the correct context without being pretentious in a youtube comment. Well done!

Great Video, Ruggles is a favorite spot for us and the Winter Nor Easters are so cold, the Ol Dry Suit was the only protection that kept me warm.
